Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is the August 22nd. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 3 days to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 3 day deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

He hated losing. More over, hated losing by DEFAULT, WHATEVER THAT MEANT. What had happened?! He was ready! It was a thundergug, yes. So what?! He'd win over those gugs somehow. Tear off that stupid face and leave it for the birds to peck at. But he'd heard a shrill sound as the gug prepared to charge. The crowd of noise getting up and leaving, making a variety of sounds. Where was she? Caiman twisted his head around, looking for that familiarly aggravating head of fire. Nothing. No noise, no nothing. She was gone. The drake didn't fight the handlers coming out, armed with those stupid little poking sticks they used on wild drakes. One long look at the first prod in the right direction sent the poker scurrying away. He would walk out on his own power; as he wasn't downed. Back to the pen it seemed. To brood and wonder; where had she gone. She didn't come around this time when the gate opened next. Playing the part of a 'good fighter', he ate his meals and took care to make a right mess of his stable for the humans to clean. Would she be there when he looked back next? For the most part, the theron and him were rarely apart. Ready! 1.5

As far as things went, they could have been better and they could have been worse. That's the general consensus Detritus was beginning to reach by that point. He'd realized battling wasn't necessarily his 'thing' (but, then, that was something he already knew going into the tournament), at least not as much as it was Mear's or Nightmare's, even though a good many times his powers had been clutch in a variety of situations where theirs might not have. By that same token, however, his powers could have just as easily turned around on anyone else as well, making him in battle something of a double-edged sword. Did he enjoy being out and about? Well.. yes, at least, in the context of seeing things and meeting people and creatures. Less so when said meetings would inevitably resort to bloodshed within the first minute, though.. Did he feel better being able to expend all that nervous energy into tangible outlets?
Not that was a question he wasn't sure was ready to be answered.
The two entered the arena much as they always did, with the doors parting to allow entrance of the blue-green and golden-yellow. They exchanged some silent words, a soft bump of the head for good luck and the mammalian took her leave for the trainer's stand, the door closing behind her. Thus, he was left alone in the arena until the sphinx's head became visible in the stand above and thus he considered the drake ahead of him. Another sarane.. the last one had been challenging and though this one wasn't nearly as brightly coloured as that, the others had spoken plenty about all sorts of browns being all manner of strong despite it.
His feet fidgeted, he pressed them stronger into the sands. Stay calm, stay clam..

While the tat-lung was mentally preparing himself below, the mammalian was scouring the stands opposite of them for a familiar face. It didn't take much to recognise the drake, Caiman was a well-known sarane veteran and a bit of a known name in many circles these days. While she might have had a different sort of blue dragon-like beast in the running this time around (one who didn't feel a need to insult the opponents strange blood and/or territorial claim) it was still curiously amusing how some things seemed to repeat given enough time. Eyes half-squinted, it usually wasn't difficult to find the fire-red hair, but she gave a wave towards the opponents regardless. If the woman was there, it was well-met; If not, well.. suppose there are stranger things than waving to greet an opponent's creature in the Pit, though perhaps not by much.
Is this one.. like the other one? Detritus ventured, unable to hide the fact he meant to say 'sarane' even if he failed to do so.
Closer than you might think, Darky smiled, They're both quite good with controlling winds.
Ah.. So.. Is flying going to be difficult, or..? I've flown in storms but the storms haven't been actively trying to kill me.
Darky had to admit that was a good question. It had been some time since she had seen Caiman last and who knows what sort of training might have gone on in the meantime. She had an inkling of the capacity and versatility with wind, thanks to Amonuro and his affinity, though even the shijin's ability was fairly limited compared to injection-blooded creatures. It's possible.. she finally drew out slowly, half in thought, But that's a problem for when it's a problem. For now, shake things up.
"Det, thunder!"
The tat-lung took a deep breath and let it exhale in much the same manner, arms feeling tingly already. Enough pomp and circumstance, it was time to begin. And as the air in the arena thickened, smushed together invisible strings of power before being torn asunder in a deafening boom, Detritus prepared for the inevitable panic.
( Detritus uses Thunder )
