Morgan was not surprised, when they came out to feed the tat-lung in the morning after they had worked with Shigeru's penultimate childhood lessons, to see that Ryuusei was nearly on the cusp of maturing into his final form as a gold tat-lung. Morgan had practically panicked, of course, because they were so excited. Whenever Seimei had went through his metamorphosis, he had hidden himself away from all others, perhaps not wishing to be seen in a semi-vulnerable state. However, Ryuusei was not like Seimei. The first thing that Morgan noticed after being quite excited and anxious for this advent was that it was young Shigeru that was attending to the excited and 'chatty' Ryuusei, and not Seimei, who had been Ryuusei's primary companion (if not rival) from their youth. 'Where even IS Seimei?!' Ryuusei sounded angry and accusatory, spending his time searching for his friend in the waters of the brook beside the mansion instead of actually savoring his last little bit of time as a mere 'fish'. Morgan frowned, and gave Shigeru a side-glance, Shigeru, who was very emotionally intelligent for his young age, was quiet but supportive of the anxious Ryuusei. "I don't know, Ryuusei, but don't you think that he might be too nervous to watch? He hid from you when he matured, didn't he?" Morgan knew that Ryuusei had been quite upset that Seimei had been older, and thus matured a whole month before him. "We all know that Seimei is very... Aloof sometimes." Morgan said, wincing.

Ryuusei was not having that explanation. 'But I am his FRIEND and he should be here!' He was fuming. Morgan was concerned, of course, once again sneaking a bit of a look at Shigeru that was quite concerned. Morgan wasn't about to tell Ryuusei that Seimei saw him as more of a Rival than a friend, even though that was pretty obvious, and that he was probably thinking of this as some kind of... Respectful thing to do for Ryuusei instead of the slight that Ryuusei was feeling that it was. Instead, Morgan would say something else that may actually help. "Ryuusei, I just want you to know that we are proud of you, and you may need to be a little uh, you know, Shigeru looks up to you; and he's so young and still learning how to deal with-" Morgan was cut off quite unceremoniously. 'That doesn't MATTER and I swear AS SOON AS I AM MATURED I am going to go and kick his a-' He was ranting, and Morgan had to stop him. "No. No you won't. When you mature, you probably won't even know how to fly. Trust me, I already went through this with Seimei. You'll need time to rest, you'll be tired, and you'll need to get used to your new body. I am sure that you know that it is very, very different than being water bound!" Now Morgan was a bit loud. Shigeru looked a bit taken aback. [2]

Morgan was not typically one to have outbursts like that with their creatures, but they found theirself standing on their toes, leaned forward with a broad stance, shaking. That was... Well that was something! Shigeru was nervously swimming closer to Morgan, and a tad farther away from Ryuusei. Morgan didn't think that Ryuusei was actually a danger, of course. He was powerful, and would be very frightening as an adult they were sure, but he was also very proud and kind. Morgan slicked back down, body leaned back and a passive look crossed over their face quietly. "I am sorry, that was out of hand. Ryuusei, I understand. Seimei should probably be here for you. This is a big day, provided it happens today of course, and your feelings are valid." Morgan nodded, before opening their eyes and sitting down near the brook in the grass. The straight-stiffness that had been in Shigeru's body melted out at this. He seemed to understand that the tense moment was gone. Ryuusei also took a moment, thinking about this. 'I shouldn't be this way either. Seimei's got his own problems. Weird, really strange hangups, but they are his.' It didn't sound like much, but Morgan could see how important it was that he understood how big this was. [3]

Morgan looked pensive for a moment and then nodded, finally. "That is very mature of you, Ryuusei. I do want you to know that your feelings are fine. It's okay to express them, but think also about the consequences. Seimei may not be as emotionally understanding as you are, and he may be... Ah, not understanding your feelings. He may not even understand what you are talking about, or maybe even believe you even if you did tell him." Morgan wasn't too good at this theirself, not in practice. However, they knew it logically, it made sense. They'd read many books, lots of books about this sort of thing for sure. Shigeru seemed a lot less scared now, for a moment it had looked like he was going to bolt. Morgan waited now, to see what Ryuusei's reaction would be. What a day to have a conversation about emotional intelligence with some sentient dragon-fish!
Ryuusei was looking quite anxious, for him anyway. He was generally more laid back than the other tat-lungs, at least most of the time. Ryuusei was much more fun-loving than the others, for sure. More playful. Right now he looked uptight and perhaps a little unsure of himself. It was odd to see him being a little off his game.

Morgan was expecting Ryuusei to converse a bit more. Shigeru was still quite low on his tat-lung 'vocabulary', which made him even quiet when it came to Morgan's ring of animal tongues. Through using this ring and working in triplicate with it and common, while signing in LSL, Morgan hoped that eventually they would be able to pick up LSL and understand at least some common. So far, the work was very slow going... Surprisingly enough to Morgan, Ryuusei was indeed not the first to converse again; this time it was Shigeru. A very shy, almost like a child's tongue, only of course it was just the body language being translated through the ring of animal tongues, from what Morgan had been able to denote of the way that it appeared to be working at times. 'I will mature, one day, too... Right?' It was the first full sentence that Morgan could pick up from Shigeru, and even Ryuusei seemed a bit surprised, and perhaps a bit proud of this 'little brother' figure. The Tat-lungs were a bit of a family unit, it would seem. "Yes, Shigeru. One day you will mature too. Though no one has seen a mature Dynasty Tat-lung before. That's what kind of tat-lung you are." They explained, noting that he had not be told before. [5]

Morgan was quiet for a moment afterwards, allowing this to sink in. Then, came the questions. Morgan tried to answer each one as they came, but some of them were difficult. 'Are there many dynasty tat-lungs?' He asked, young and curious, the first question. "I do not know." Morgan answered. "I've only ever seen you, but I think there are at least a handful of others." Morgan elaborated, honestly. 'Where did I come from?' Shigeru continued. "I requested you, from a shop. Not you specifically, but I am very glad to get to teach you, of course." Shigeru seemed to have a moment to consider, and then he turned to Ryuusei, who had already heard this entire spiel before and understood a little better than him. Ryuusei just kept his eye on Morgan, knowing that Morgan would give him the answers when the time came for him to understand. Morgan's head was still reeling about the entire situation today. Ryuusei was going to change soon. Seimei was off doing... Something, when he hardly ever left. He could be getting hurt somewhere. Shigeru was actually... Conversing. He never conversed; and here he was spouting near-full ideas at Morgan that thankfully the ring was able to decipher.

Shigeru's brain was going ninety-miles a minute, Morgan could tell just by looking at him. Ryuusei was looking more and more anxious as time went on, as if the time of his maturation was coming soon. He seemed to be fighting the urge to go hide away as what Morgan assumed was a metamorphosis was about to occur; or to stay here so that Morgan and Shigeru could watch and know what was going to be expected for Shigeru whenever he made his own metamorphosis. Morgan was pretty proud of him, at least. "Shigeru, I believe that dragons like yourselves should be taken care of and taught, rather than treated as animals. The Labs City is an odd place. People here 'own' creatures that are made by the labs. Anything made by the labs is considered a, ah, pet? Even if it is sentient. As such, the City is a dangerous place for a sentient creature that is not 'owned', or at least considered owned. I feel like it is my duty, as a steward, to teach and take care of as many tat-lungs as possible. To keep you all out of danger, and give you a safe home." There, that was the best Morgan could do. It was a long monologue, however.

For whatever Shigeru had been looking for in an answer, that seemed to be it. A billion other questions seemed to have formed and then died down in an instant as Shigeru pieced together the things he had seen from the travel tank when Morgan took him out to go on the teaching trips, and the bits that he had gotten from Seimei and Ryuusei having conversations in the past. Then, finally, after a few moments of him thinking about what to do. 'I see, and this is a choice of yours? You do not have to, and you want to, right?' Shigeru finally asked. Morgan nodded. "That's right. It's my decision. I respect dragons, and I want to see you all thrive." It wasn't a hundred percent the truth, but it was true in spirit. Morgan also wanted to be protected in turn, but they were sure that it would be fine to bring that up at a more later date, in some other way. "But it is very important that you stay here for the most part. If the labs things any of you have gone rogue, it may be bad." Morgan said, and then looked over at Ryuusei. "Do you mind if I call Seimei back? I'm worried about him."

Ryuusei looked sullen for a moment, and then flicked his tail finally, turning back. Morgan raised their hand out to reach for him, and then withdrew the hand and instead pushed their glasses further up their nose. "Ryuusei, please. It is your decision, but he could be hurt. If I signal for him to come home, and he doesn't, I may have to go out looking for him to make sure that nothing bad happened while he was out." Morgan was genuinely worried for him, for the aloof and snarky fellow. Finally, with some urging from Shigeru, Ryuusei relented. 'Fine. But I don't expected him to stick around for me.' He was still quite sullen and frustrated, and Morgan understood why. Morgan pulled the whistle from their pocket, and then brought it to their lips to give the command for Seimei to 'come'. They knew that it was plenty loud, they made sure that it would travel quite a few blocks. Now, the waiting was going to happen. Seimei may be far away, and may take a few minutes to fly to them. Shigeru seemed to notice it even before Ryuusei did; a single golden scale appeared to turn milky white on his tail tip. Soon after, the entire tail began to slowly start the shedding process.

Ryuusei had lasted so much longer than Seimei had; for sure. The urge, biological in nature surely, for the tat-lung to get out of any possible weakness-showing area was so strong that it even forced him away, whipping through the brook and towards his personal hideaway. All of the tat-lungs probably did this, Morgan told theirself. Seimei had been emotionally fearful, but Ryuusei was generally not. Morgan had figured that if any tat-lung was going to be able to do this out in the open where Morgan could see it for theirself, it would have been Ryuusei. Morgan watched as the white of the dull scales spread up his back, towards his face quickly. Ah; so was it like shedding a skin? Or was this like something else.
Shigeru made his way, looking like he was going to follow Ryuusei, but Morgan called to him to stop him. "Let him do this himself. I am sure Shigeru that whenever this happens to you one day, that you will feel more comfortable doing it in secret as well." As for right now, however; Morgan was beginning to grow more worried. They had called Seimei, but he was not coming... "I need to go find Seimei. Shigeru, you stay here, okay?" Morgan said, and then when Shigeru gave a quick affirmative, Morgan took their leave.
They would come to see Ryuusei's transformation undoubtedly after collecting Seimei from wherever he had run off to.
