Today was quite the weird day for Renathan. He woke up in the morning perfectly meaning for today to be the day that he took Lazare and Kingfisher out to the breeding center. He was hoping to be able to breed another pair this month, but it was looking like he didn't really have enough time to get more than one more out, if he was super lucky. Work was really picking up, and it showed that morning when he'd gotten a confusing call for an order at the shop that someone wanted. Renathan had to come out really early to size a particularly small and delicate vulticus for a set of armor. Renathan was out all morning just trying to get the unruly vulticus to let him size him properly. Finally, Renathan had been able to return home. He picked up Lazare and Kingfisher. Well, Kingfisher first, since she had to be put in a carrier before Lazare was grabbed. Soon after she was fixed up (it was difficult because she was easily his biggest female orbaru at the moment) Renathan put Lazare on a chain, and they began their trip to the breeding center. Renathan was super worried about today.

The breeding center was probably tired of him being around, to be honest. Renathan had a lot of trouble recently, and he was afraid that he would run into trouble on the way there again like he had forever. However, Renathan had his fingers crossed that nothing would happen as they made there way to the breeding center today. It was going to suck quiet a bit he knew though. He just knew it; things had not been going well for him, and it was a shame. However, he hoped that it would surprise him at least. For one, Lazare was a nightmare to take out to breed, which was a real shame. Renathan hadn't really thought very far ahead this go around it would seem. He hadn't really considered the fact that a battle orbaru would be more of a fight to handle than a regular orbaru, and he had no idea why he hadn't thought about it previously. Even now, Lazare was fighting going a bit, though mostly for fun it would seem. If he truly didn't want to go, Renathan probably wouldn't be able to get him to go. Still, he was being super slow. Thank goodness Kingfisher wasn't that way!

There were only so many things that could be done about Lazare when it came to going out for breedings. He was too large for a critter crate, the kind that he used for all of his other orbaru, and he was too small to waste a courier service on. He was really tall and kinda broad, more like a kangaroo than a rabbit really, and the mammalian couldn't help but note that he could probably cause a lot of damage if he decided to get a good kick out. He wasn't really too much trouble for Renathan, but he was super worried about someone else freaking out about him. Battle orbaru were sort of frowned at by a lot of the breeding community since they were aggressive, and most saw that the only use of them could be animal fighting. Renathan would never use an orbaru like that, since they weren't all that clever or probably even good at it, even the battle ones, but it was frowned upon to breed an aggressive creature like that when it came to orbaru. Kingfisher was a great testament to that truth; she was a devious little creature for certain. More so than other orbaru Renathan had.

Renathan hadn't really expected Kingfisher to be the way that she was, and it was now obvious to Renathan that linebreeding orbaru for certain markings was causing serial personality traits to pass down as well. Lazare was a punky creature, and Kingfisher had that in spades. It made her clever and careful. With Lazare's other kids, Laharu and Liliana, there were a few interesting personality traits that had passed down. Liliana was obsessive over her sons and protective of them, whereas other mothers that Renathan had tended to let go a bit after their orbaru offspring were adults. Laharu was sweet as pie, though, and Renathan was amused by his antics. However, Offspring from further down the line with Lazare's continued addition made for some rough offspring, that looked amazing though. Cinnabon was Laharu's offspring, and perhaps she wasn't the best choice as a parent with Lazare. She was a very aggressive orbaru, pulling the ears of others. He'd had to remove her from his breeding program and orbaru house after Kingfisher was born, because Cinnabon was even going to do that to HER he could just tell. It was a mess, a real and true mess. Thankfully, Kingfisher didn't try to pull ears. She was much too clever for that.

Renathan was probably making a terrible decision breeding these two, but they were the perfect parents for something he'd wanted to produce for a long time; pure bred v2 red panda orbaru. He'd never thought that he was going to be able to produce any, until he heard about the berries that Turner had worked on. Those berries were perfect for using to make those much desired v2 red panda orbies, though he knew he was probably going to have to breed them quite a bit to get the hoard that he wanted. They were the perfect set. Kingfisher was excellent, a beautiful female orbaru with Lazare's eyes nearly perfectly, just a bit lighter. Renathan had been excited when she was produced; she was missing a few of Lazare's white facial markings, but she had a few special white markings on her that came from Renathan's other special breeding pair, Goodnight and Nightlight. Kingfisher was the final product of a long line of breeding, having descended from a lot of Renathan's favorite custom orbaru pairs. Now she was perfect for the production of the orbaru that Renathan really wanted. This time, he was bringing the v2 berry to test one out, and also a male fruit to ensure a male.

Renathan was really picky, generally, about the genders of offspring that he wanted. While he never turned down a surprise male in a group of expected females, he was not afraid to use a male berry to make sure to get a male when it was needed. He was hoping for a male this go around, and then maybe a female in the future? He wasn't sure how often he was going to be able to do this in the future now. The mammalian was having a bit of trouble getting Lazare out of the yard and down the street, but finally, Renathan was able to figure out how to get him to come; bribing him with an animal-safe sweet treat. Renathan had brought a small container of the tiny 'cakeballs' that he sold at his shop, and thankfully the creature was interested enough in those that he would follow on the lead a lot more calmly than he had before. Kingfisher was much easier; being very lazy inside of the crate and sleeping. Sloth orbaru were great that way, Renathan really did like sloths because they were easy to deal with since they slept more often than other types of orbaru.

Renathan was super thankful that Kingfisher, though cunning and a bit of a kingpin if he did say so himself around the orbaru house, was indeed pretty lazy all things considered. The mammalian used a few sweets to get Lazare down the street, and now it was only a few more streets and they would be there. Already, Lazare was starting to be more interesting in their surroundings than actually looking at the sweets. Dang, this was going to suck. Already he was glaring down someone's particularly tough looking bloodpaw. Thankfully, the bloodpaw was snooty and didn't seem interesting in backing up what Renathan was very sure was a threat from Lazare. "Lazare, be nice dude." Renathan snarked at him, knowing that he would have no idea what he was talking about. "We don't need you getting mauled to death by a vulticus on the way to the breeding center." It was a dang mess, the fact that Lazare was now super aggressive, and it was Renathan's fault of course. Lazare luckily wasn't paying attention to Kingfisher, though he had sniffed at her crate just a bit ago. It was possible that he hadn't really noticed her, but Renathan doubted that.

The walk was both boring and stressful the whole way, it would seem. The trio finally managed to get to the end of the first road without Lazare throwing anyone else the metaphorical rude one, and Renathan felt like they might actually get there without any issues. The last few trips had been super stressful and awful, so the process being as smooth as it was, even with the bumps that Lazare was throwing, was super calming. The mammalian was starting to get a bit of a reputation for bringing trouble, and he didn't need that, even if he was having to bring Lazare this go around again. Battles were, after all, very frowned upon. Battle orbaru, that is. Renathan continued moving on practically dragging Lazare some of the way, with Kingfisher peacefully sleeping under his arm. "Alrighty you two, almost here." Renathan said, really determined to get there without any overheating or setbacks or anything like that. Eventually they were able to round the corner; and then Renathan stopped. Oh no, there it was; the setback. He steeled himself a bit and watched as a pair of folks went by carrying glass. GLASS. CARRYING GLASS; who even did that anymore?!

Renathan was proud of himself for stopping, of course. He hadn't ran into it and managed to keep Lazare from doing so as well. However; something even worse happened while they waited for the huge piece of glass to be moved; a little kid nearly ran into it while chasing his estharne kitten. Renathan had to drop Lazare's chain in order to grab the kid and push it back gently. Of course, the kid started crying because Renathan had an absolutely 'terrifying' mask, and then the kid grabbed the kitten and ran off in the opposite direction. Well, Renathan would much prefer the kid to be scared and run away than to have run into the glass and possibly gotten hurt or killed, so Renathan didn't think much of it. Instead, he checked Kingfisher to make sure that he hadn't shaken her up to much, and then he noticed it. Yes, he had indeed dropped Lazare's chain. Renathan immediately turned back to see if he could find the fella, and of course Lazare had took off as soon as he noticed that he was off the chain, but he hadn't gotten too far. Renathan couldn't run with Kingfisher under his arm, though!

Renathan sighed. He knew that he had to get Lazare back under control, but also, he couldn't just sit Kingfisher down. This was why he really should train some of his orbaru at some point... At the very least 'come' was a must for creatures. He sighed, watched as the last of the people carrying the glass walked across the road, and then he sat Kingfisher down on a tree stump nearby, withing sight of the breeding center for just a moment, never once taking his eyes off of Lazare. Afterwards, he took off to go after Lazare. Thought it was a game, and took off running away. Renathan growled beneath his breath as he ran him down, finally managing to just barely leap on the chain that held him. Then he walked back over to the stump where he left Kingfisher's carrier, and he was breathing hard as he stood there for a moment trying to catch his breath. Thankfully, Kingfisher was still there and no one had grabbed her on the way to the breeding center. Renathan knew that she was going to be okay, but he was super worried about the entire thing in all honesty, his luck hadn't been good lately.

Renathan was so used to his luck being decent that these repeated orbaru trips being bad luck were wearing him down so badly. He wasn't sure if he was going to be able to do another one of these within the month. He had so much stuff going on, he didn't know if he was even going to be able to get this one fixed up either, with how it was going. He really needed to get it done though, really, really badly. Renathan stood there for a moment, his hand on top of the critter carrier holding kingfisher, and his other hand holding the chain that was on the collar around Lazare's neck, and he really didn't know what to do. Should he go home and come back another day? They were really close to the breeding center, and getting Lazare even to this point had been a huge chore. He only had to keep doing this whenever he could, and he might not get another chance to do this. No, he had to keep on trekking, no matter what happened. Renathan quickly hefts up the heavy Kingfisher, and then places her under his arm. He had a breeding center slot to catch.

Renathan finally managed to get all ready to move on to the breeding center. Everything was all situated and ready to go, though he wasn't entirely ready to get this over with it would seem. As soon as he stood all the way straight, Lazare rushed forward, nearly knocking him off of his feet. "Darn Lazare, why do you always have to do that?" Renathan said, moving forward quietly, trying to keep him from dragging him around. However, Lazare had powerful back legs and was very strong and tall, even compared to the russet mammalian. He managed to drag Renathan out to the road, where there was a kid with some kind of candy; it looked almost like candy floss. "No no no Lazare, NO." Renathan said, trying to drag him back a bit and keep him from trying to steal the kid's candy. "You are a mess today!" He said, worriedly and with plenty of aggravation. "Lets go." Renathan said, finally catching him off guard and dragging him toward the breeding center. Lazare looked upset, and finally just let himself be dragged despondently, not in any pain of course. Renathan stopped, holding his ground.

The anticipation was real with this breeding though. Renathan had chosen to do it a little earlier than he was going to, for one. Sure, he was going to breed Lazare and Kingfisher for certain, or maybe Kingfisher and Laharu, but he was then going to breed Lazare and whatever orbaru offspring that Kingfisher made. However, looking at the variations between these two, no matter how slight in markings, was enough to convince him that it wouldn't hurt to do it now. Kingfisher's white markings were quite a bit different than his, and at first that made Renathan a bit concerned about whether or not she would be good for such a breeding. However, her lighter and brighter colors were pretty okay, in Renathan's opinion. He wondered if the offspring would take more after her, or more after him perhaps. Renathan thought about this as he went forward to the front door of the breeding center. This breeding would be worth Lazare's trouble, it just would be he was convinced about it. Renathan finally felt Lazare calm down, and he let him get up, helping him along. They were right at the door now, it was just time to get to go on in.

Renathan had a bit of trouble trying to get the door open. He usually did when he had two crates under his arms, which was basically every single time, however it was much more difficult to do this with an orbaru on a chain; a battle one at that, that didn't particularly enjoy being good and doing what he was supposed to. Perhaps he needed some kind of physical outlet more often? Renathan commonly allowed him to run around the yard and follow him around and such. But it would seem that he needed to be able to fight or something as well, and Renathan didn't particularly enjoy that idea. However, something had to be done, or else he was going to be a mess forever it would seem. Renathan was finally able to weasel the door open, but Lazare pressed up against it a bit, not meaning to, and nearly closed it. Now Renathan was fanning the door a bit, and even if it was cooler in the breeding center and outside now, it was still much hotter outside than it was inside, and he was letting all of the cold air out by accident here. He shifted Kingfisher's crate over slightly.
