Not sure what to do yet? Wanting to prepare for the first real event of the war? On November 1, 2019, the first events for both sides will be available for those who have joined the war. Neutral players may 'hear' about a specific event that is to occur and volunteer, but they can only join one. That said, let's see what's coming up for the war!
Shield members: Rumors have been spreading of wandering beasts, of stolen wealth, of destroyed property. Few have seen anything other than the results of one of these visits, and those who have caught a glimpse of those responsible speak of things no larger than a child loping into the shadows on more than just two legs. Some say it's a mischievous group of kapper, others believe it to be something much worse as they return to their homes to find the creatures they left out partially eaten, or no sign of them beyond puddles of blood.
Just the blood. No trails to show the direction the body was taken, no prints to hint at the numbers or the ones doing this. Owners have taken to leaving out traps, only to find the traps untouched despite their missing pets or items. Sometimes the traps are sprung, but only contain twigs and stones.
Those sworn to defend the labs have been busy with other matters, seemingly unconcerned by these problems, and so those leading the Shield have decided to send some of their members look into whoever is doing this. Someone must help, must find out what is happening before more damage is caused. They are looking for volunteers to find out who or what is responsible and put a stop to the attacks somehow, though they warn those interested that they cannot be certain of the strength of these creatures, nor if it is only creatures behind this. It may take a few weeks before they have a lead for their volunteers, and hope they use the time to prepare themselves.
Rights members: Minor workshops have begun to spring up dedicated to teaching those sentient yet not recognized as people how to read, how to communicate in some way as to make their wants and needs known. Pamphlets litter the streets, some claiming to have been written by these 'people'. Speeches ring out from many corners, some 'normal' speakers, some translating for creatures rapidly waggling their appendages in ways that the accompanying person claims to understand, and one or two 'beasts' speaking as well as they could. While this was novel at first, most seem to be growing content to ignore those speaking and the papers they offer.
Some are less than content to leave it at that, and have made their displeasure known. It has been small things so far, like leaving those with boxes of pamphlets to find nothing but shredded paper when they open the boxes. Grease left on the boxes and chairs they bring to stand on, causing more than a few minor injuries as a unsuspecting individual fails to notice before stepping onto it. Balls wet with some foul smelling liquid rolled into the few crowds that stay to listen, sending them scrambling away far enough the speaker's word can no longer reach them.
Those who have found themselves trying to organize Rights are planning to start sending out more people with the speakers, if nothing else to keep an eye out for those responsible and hopefully deter them from escalating their disruptions. A good eye, a quick wit, a companion to stir the sympathies of the crowd they hope will come would be more valuable than someone intimidating, though they would accept them as well. No matter who volunteers, they would prefer them to avoid causing a fight. Since the disruptions so far have not be overtly threatening, Rights is taking a little time to find the best site for speakers during this event, and hope that anyone interested will be fully prepared when the day comes.

Name: AsheSide: shield Ashe remembered unrest stirring once before. He and Spencer had heard stirring, but they'd been silenced and he didnt know what had happened. But this was the month of Vai Vin Mur, a very busy time for Ashe. He hosted haunted houses, haunted trails, and other delights on his Estate, Zanarkand, around this time. Plus his trips to the Mansion, and training - so he hadn't been around the city as much as normal, and even less so by the Hunter's lodge, a place he had yet to need the services of. It didnt come as a shock to him, though, that people were uneasy about Tat-lung and Harachiu being sold there. What did surprise him, however, was an uproar about some pet attacking people? As he walked he saw two groups forming, two tables set up to sign. Ashe didnt have to hear much from the lady lioness to make his decision,; the other group wanted to free all sentient pets? As Captain of the Aquatic Keep, as a strong pet trainer in the city, a Pit champion - the decision was easy. "To protect the city. I'm in."Did sentient creatures deserve respect? Certainly. But did they deserve to be sent out on their own? Would you send your own child out into the wilderness just because it was intelligent?

Name: Vixen Side: Shield
Vixen had tried, tried very hard mind you, to stay neutral. She didn't like this entire debacle, in fact it made her deeply uncomfortable. Yes, she had thought quite a few times before about how strange it was to possess ownership over sentient creatures, and she often felt awkward addressing such animals, as she felt as if she should treat them as equals- much like Ashe's Maverick. However, this important discussion was not one that should be addressed with violence. Besides- while intelligent, some of these creatures couldn't fend for themselves. It was too nuanced of a topic to treat in such a black-and-white manner, and Zyler, her own person hell, had shown her what it's like when creatures imposed their will violently on their world. The bodies stacked up. Besides, being a member of the Keeps, it was her sworn duty to protect the city. The decision was made for her regardless of how muddy she found the ethics of it all. So, when she was approached, Vixen pursed her lips and nodded at the lioness. "I'm from outside these walls as well." She paused, her expression somewhat stony as involuntary memories of her childhood filtered through. The hood the lined her neck flared gently, betraying her emotions. "We will protect the city."

Shield: No matter if it was a kennel, a home, wherever it was that you might be expected to reside, several sharp, loud knocks would ring out from the door. Opening it, one would find the same lioness mammalian who had handled their recruitment standing straight as if she had a pole down the back of her mud-splattered clothing, one clawed hand attempting to brush away the wet dirt that had splattered onto their face. The hand freezes as she makes eye contact, then pulls away to leave the hair there spiking outward.
“Apologies for my appearance. A few members of the public wanted to express their, uh, lack of support for Shield.” The hand hesitates, then wipes off the mud on her already dirtied uniform before it is held out to be shaken. Whether you leave it hanging or willingly shake her hand, it then comes to rest at her side as she assumes a slightly more relaxed, but still fairly straight, pose. “I have been sent out to confirm you are one of those volunteering to stop who or whatever is attacking creatures and stealing private property.” Once you confirm it, she nods to herself, a small smile creeping across her face. “I am glad we have someone like you to help. I am also here to tell you what information we have gained since the call for help went out. As you might know, the criminals or creatures have been sneaking onto private property, killing or taking beasts without leaving much of a trail, and sometimes have stolen small items from the properties. I have heard that one carpenter had several carved toys taken, and a fletcher lost a sack of colorful jibiji feathers and a roll of twine. There also was a collector who was furious that several carved pieces of antler had been taken from her collections, also having mentioned that the thieves left behind the gems she had intended to decorate them with. In each case, the individual had found that they had a dead or missing creature beforehand. The carpenter was missing three adult truffle bwee, the fletcher lost one of their guard vulticus while the other came out of a pet house when he returned, and the collecter, well.” She takes a breath here, the smile looking a little sickly. “They had recently adopted two trained, old amber wiurn to defend their property. One was gone, the other looked as if it had been partially eaten. The wings, tail and head were largely untouched, but those who looked it over could not tell if any specific wounds had been inflicted before or after it had been killed.”
She takes a moment to look at you, watching for your reaction. “We understand,” she begins slowly, not with a hint of annoyance or judgement in her voice, “if you would like to back out. This information is more than a little worrisome, but we cannot let those who have volunteered to go in blind. Nor do we wish to pressure anyone who might feel unprepared. If you do decide to continue, there is a ranch named Dragontooth nearby the other locations that have recently been attacked. The owner informed us that something has been exciting his creatures, and he swore he saw several sets of eyes watching him while he was repairing one of the fences surrounding the property. Against our recommendations, he has informed us that he plans to trap the intruders himself. We are worried what might happen to him and his family should he attempt to confront them directly, and will be sending the volunteer group there soon in hopes of preventing a disaster. If you want to back out, you only need to not go on the decided date.”
Her smile remains, but there is a worried look in her eyes that only intensified as she spoke of the rancher. “Whether or not you decide to come, we thank you for the assistance you have given us so far. Have a good day.” She turns around and leaves, practically marching as she disappeared from sight.
Rights: You were being watched.
You could not be certain when it began, nor are you able to pick out exactly who is watching you, but it slowly dawns on you as a somewhat familiar face passes you by, the way a nondescript figure darts into alleys or behind trees as you move around in public. You find yourself picking out colors and walks, trying to determine which person had bumped into you, pressing the folded and torn muddy sheet of paper into your hand that told you to go to a nearby address, the sloppily drawn wasp at the bottom of the words all the signature the note needed.
When you reach the address, you find that it’s an abandoned looking house, the windows boarded and trash of all kinds littering the dying grass. A few scattered and mostly leafless trees are on the lot, their long branches decorated with coils of shiny material and bottles. Knocking on the door produces a shuffling sound from inside, but there is no other reply from there.
Instead, a grey wolf mammalian comes out from the side of the house, announcing his presence with a hacking cough and a limp, dragging one leg as he turns his glossy-eyed stare on you. Despite the leg, he quickly blocks the stairs of the porch, head bobbing up and down just slowly enough that you can catch the way his eyes dart all around your body to the paper unfolded in your hand. Seeing that, he coughs one last time, then straightens up as his leg miraculous heals and all signs of illness appear to flee.
“Sorreh for all that smoke and dagger nonsense.” The wolf mammalian laughs, a coughing huck-huck-huck sound emanating from his grinning mouth as he makes his way onto the porch with you. “Just hadda make sure you weren’t sneaking around, workin’ with those slavers to ruin our protests. Haven’t found the folks messing with the speakers yet yah see, so the boss was wonderin’ if maybe it was a few recruits that weren’t actually recruits. Not for us, at least.” The smile twitched slightly, suggesting how he felt about that. “You can call me Wolfe. Not the most original, but it’ll do. I’m here cause you said you’d be willing to help out at the big protest we have planned?” At an affirmative answer, he beams. “Yeah? Great! Glad you have ya. Scales told me all about yah, and he’s a good judge of character. Usually. Just had to see yah for mah self.”
He relaxes, leaning against the wall as he picks mud out from under his claws. “First off, I trust yah now. At least as much as I would any new recruit, so I’ll give yah some info. We’re going to gather at the fountain in the city square, y’know, the community center? We’ve got pamphlets and the smaller boyos, you know, the ones those slaver ijits call pets? They’re gonna help pass out some papers and sign what they can to those who can read them. Haven’t gotten a Common speaker yet though, but if you’re friends with one, bring them on by. Might help convince the folks around here better if a one of them they think are ‘beasts’ can talk at them. If not, seeing as I haven’t see yah at the teachin’ groups we do, we’ve got translators.” He strugs, clearly not too enthused by the back up plan, but a moment later he’s plowing along again.
“Yah can help pass out pamphlets, help a speaker,” he starts, counting out the options on his fingers, “speak yourself, if yer so inclined. Stand in the crowd, give an encouraging shout or clap when a good point is made, yah know, help keep their spirits up.Yah can even just argue with a few of the folks that are a bit too” he twirls his counting hand in the air, four fingers outstretched, “unwilling to admit the bad things they’re doin. Just keep it calm. No fights, no pointless insults, no in-tim-mi-dat-in anyone. We aren’t the bad guys here. We need them to know that.” He stops his count, flicking away a piece of mud from his claws. “We are the good ‘uns. Once they realize that, they’ll be more willin’ to listen, to realize just how bad what they’re doing is.” The smile drops, and the wolf looks you in the eye in what some might interpret as intimidating, others might see it as nothing more than fervour for the cause. “Don’t let them make us look like the baddies here.”
Then the smile is back, and he slaps you playfully on the arm. “But yah wouldn’t let that happen. Yer a fine, up-stand-ing citizen, the kind who knows what to stand up for. If yah’re worried, yah can sit this one out. But we’d like to have you.” With that, he lopes away, disappearing as easily as he had before.

Shield: Due to lack of interest by any neutral or Shield players, the Shield event has come to an early end. The call for protection went unheard by those who promised to protect.
Rights: A Rights member has come to spread the word and improve relations between those the city recognizes as people and the others who still are.

Hi there, I haven’t joined yet technically but I plan to. :)
Not a harsh complaint, but more of an observation and potential solution to a minor setback. I just wanted to note that this maaay be going a bit fast. It’s clearly a great idea since so many people joined and plan to soon, but right now there’s a lot to read to catch up, and the last scene seemed to have 1/10+ people involved...get involved. :(
Perhaps a poll can be done each time to see whether people are ready to move forward into a new scene/thread, since such an incredible and complex event like this war deserves and requires a bit of preparation and time to read and react. I just don’t want the threads you’ve obviously put effort into planning to go to waste while people are busy with the month rolling over or other holiday or life events. <3

I'm with Riku on his suggestion; the holidays are coming up. With that, most of us are working increased hours, our freetime gets limited, and with that, the attention span (like mine) gets turned to working on threads that are monthly vs going towards the war or training something.
I will admit the war thread totally slipped my mind, so can for the rest of Rights/Neutral/Shield, I formally request we get a two week extension of openings on the 'closure' of those threads? Bout three days is a bit of a tight fit around this time of year to get in a reply/plan to reply.
Please and thank you.
