"Thanks!" Jack said happily, smiling down at Lark, "He's super cute, I think you'd like him. I hope you can get some nodes in the future! I wish you all the luck with getting crystals, it's harder than most people think, though it seems to have gotten a bit easier." She'd made several so far, had died for one, and that was fine, as long as she came back, she didn't see the issue with it. Grinning a little, she pushed her hair back and then stood up when they were called to go back to a room. "We're up!" she said happily to Leafy, offering her a hand up if she needed it.
Lark scrambled off of the woman's lap as she stood up and she looked, annoyed, over at the other Orbaru. She didn't like that happening to her, it just wasn't fair! Oh well... she could rest some more when they got to the other place, she figured, and she slowly started to wander over to the attendant.

Leafy accepted Jack’s outstretched hand and used the leverage to stand up easier. The breeding centre usually made Leafy a tad bit uncomfortable since is was generally so busy. But today it was quiet and she had a friend to accompany her. Worm booped in sympathy at Lark when she was harshly awoken. He wanted to curl up next to the sloth Orbaru and take a nap as well. Maybe she’d let him if they were good enough friends!
“It’s a good thing it’s not busy. It gets too loud when everyone decides to breed their pets on the same day,” Leafy commented.
She made sure she had a tight grip on Worm’s leash. She didn’t want to accidentally lose someone else’s pet! It would be enough of a hassle to lose her own Orbaru, never mind her friend’s Orbaru. Worm tugged on the leash, wanting to follow Lark as she headed over to the attendant.

"This is true, it can be a bit hectic at times, especially if people are using Serums..." Jack sympathized with a little smile on her face as she helped her to her feet. Jack wasn't sure what else to do at the moment aside from follow the attendant and Lark, and she smiled a little more when they were led to a room. Lark darted in as quick as Jack had ever seen her before and pulled herself clumsily onto a chair so she could curl up and sleep again. This would happen whether she did anything or not, best not to get too invested in things, she figured. Pushing her hair back, Jack laughed a little and settled into a chair next to her, reaching out and lifting her up and putting her on the floor again. "Well, at least we know a Sloth Orbaru is good for sleeping..." she said with a chuckle and motioned for Leafy to take a seat as well. They still had a little ways to go.

Leafy laughed as the sloth Orbaru immediately took to a chair and fell asleep. Worm looked up in dismay, distraught that he hadn’t been invited to nap as well. He booped unhappily and approached the chair next to the female Orbaru. He hauled himself up into the chair and stared at Lark. He tried to inch closer to her even though the design of the chairs made the movement a little awkward. He was determined to cuddle up next to Lark. Leafy took a seat as well.
“At least Worm seems eager enough to breed!” She laughed as she watched the interaction. “Though I think he still has some work to do.”
Orbaru courtship was a strange process to her. Leafy didn’t really understand it to well. She understood the Pachee much better, though that was more like plant pollination than anything else. Orbaru were a bit different and hard for Leafy to understand.

Jack laughed along with her, "Yeah, he's eager enough, she just wants it down and over with, I figure." Lark had been bred a couple of times before, so she was a veteran in the terms of Orbaru, Jack figured with a little chuckle. She just couldn't wait to see what kind of offspring they were going to produce, it was going to be nice to see things from their point of view, and again Jack wondered if she should get a ring so she could talk to the species. It might make things more interesting, and more... disturbing too...
Making a face, she shook her head a bit and then smiled over at Leafy, "Any plans for anything soon? I know there's a lot to do around here again and all." She couldn't wait to get some ideas as to what to do as well, she was a little overwhelmed recently, but maybe that was a good thing.

Leafy contemplated the question for a moment. She wasn’t really one for long term planning, but she could make an effort for Jack.
“I suppose I’ll camp out the quest board. Ever since they’ve added it, it’s given me lots to do! Then I’ll probably do some more mining and maybe even train some creatures if I’ve got the time.” She listed off each activity. The two Orbaru seemed like they’d make a good pair. Lark might be sleepy, but they did make a point in saying that opposites attract. Worm booped at her again, trying to catch her attention. If he could just get a little closer! Then they would be fully cuddling.
“How about you, what are your plans?” she asked Jack.
There was always a ton of stuff to do around the labs. Leafy was running a bit low on credits so she was focusing on building those back up.

"That's a good call! Gotta make credits somehow," she said with a nod, "The quest board really was a great addition to the Labs, it's been great seeing what we can find, plus that new shop is amazing too!" There were so many cool artifacts in there, it was hard to decide what to pick up when you had enough quest points. Lark sighed a little and opened a single blue eye before batting at the male a little in play. She slumped her head down again, but kept both eyes open now to see what he would do.
Breathing a sigh, Jack smiled a little and shrugged, "I have no idea, I need to cover for the Archmage again soon, but other than that and training, I don't have a lot of plans. It's been tough trying to catch time for everything lately, I feel like I've been stretched thin for a bit."

“The Orbaru in the shop are definitely tempting. I’ve never seen any like that before! I wish I could catch one myself and save my points, but they’re much too quick!”
Leafy did like having a variety of Orbaru, but breeding them certainly took a lot of time. Having Jack to help made the process a whole lot easier. Watching Orbaru alone made Leafy feel both bored and intrusive. With a friend, she certainly wasn’t bored.
“I’ve never met the Archmage before. That must be an interesting job! I don’t think I’d ever be that good at magic. It’s impressive that you are!”
Worm booped in excitement when the female Orbaru decided to play with him. He squirmed in his seat, trying to position himself into an angle where he could reach her to tag her back. He reached over with an outstretched paw and booped her on the nose.

"I ended up buying a male and a female if you want to breed sometime!" Jack offered happily, grinning at her friend. She found she smiled more around her friends, it was a nice change of pace, she figured, "Yeah they're quick, if that quest awhile back was any indication..." She loved Orbaru and she had quite a few of them back in the kennel, and she hoped Leafy knew that they were offered to her whenever, but just in case, "You know you can ask to breed to any of mine when you want! I have no problems with bringing one along sometimes."
Another nod and a smile, "She's really nice, just... busy. I'm still not that great at magic, but I do try at least." She might be being modest, but there was still quite a bit of magic she didn't have control over, it was frustrating. But soon enough she knew she would get it done.
Lark rolled onto her back and then booped in surprise when she rolled onto the floor. It was a shock to find herself off of the chair, and she scowled a little at anyone who might be nearby, trying to blame someone else.

“I definitely need to take you up on that! I just get so busy that Orbaru breeding sort of gets pushed down on the list. I’m hoping to spend more time in the mansion before the month is over. October has some of the best stuff!”
She’d been saving up her quest points and didn’t quite know what she wanted to spend her points on. Orbaru were a good option and she always liked the crosses that they made. She definitely needed to breed them more. She hardly had time to get anything done these days! It seemed to be a common theme for both her and Jack.
“I’m sure you’re great at magic! Anyone who can harness the power of a node is impressive really. There aren’t that many people who are able to do that!”
Worm booped in alarm when Lark tumbled straight out of the chair. He rushed over, checking to see if she was okay.

"Great! I look forward to a message, you can come over anytime. Plus I have the Preserve now, and I'm trying to expand so I can have more room there for more animals as well," she told her happily, nodding eagerly. She couldn't wait for people to start going to the Preserve, it was so neat, at least to her, and people could rent her animals for either a baby from the breeding or credits, whichever was easier. If only people wanted to see it.
Jack laughed a little and shook her head, forever a bit modest when it came to her abilities, "Oh I'm not all that special, you'll see. It's not like I know a ton of stuff just yet or anything, and the nodes I have are some of the weaker ones I think. The strongest one I have is a light node, that took forever to save up for."
Lark glowered at Worm for a moment before sighing and reaching out to tap him on one of his long ears. She was fine, he didn't need to hover, Sloths had a nice reserve of... erm... skin... after all.

“I’ll try to visit sometime. Maybe once my Tat-Lung has hatched I’ll bring it over so you can see!” Leafy exclaimed happily. She definitely needed to spend more time with other people. Isolation could be a tricky thing and it was never beneficial for one’s mental well-being.
“But you have a familiar! That’s some very tricky magic!” Leafy exclaimed.
She didn’t know too much about magic, but she was certain that creating a bond between a creature to the extent a familiar was took a lot of work. She had contemplated getting one herself, even though that would be far in the future. Maybe when she had a ton of magic up her sleeves would she consider one for herself.
Worm booped happily when Lark reached out and touched his ears. The motion felt nice and he wanted her to do it again! She seemed rather easy-going which made Worm feel comfortable around her.

Jack nodded again, "Of course that would be great! I have a few Tat-lung from the Hunter's Lodge, maybe they could all get together sometime and play? If yours is into that kind of thing though." She grinned as she thought of a lot of fish playing together, but there were stranger things that had happened, she figured.
She shook her head a little, "Not as tricky as you'd think, you just don't have as much magic power after you take one. Sure, it's not a lot of a difference, just a single spell or so, but..." Jack chewed her lip a little and then put her hand out, palm face up and let some fire crackle from her fingertips for a moment, then smiled at her friend, "It is pretty fun having that at your fingertips though."
Lark nuzzled up to Worm and slowly drifted off again, she was tired, it had been a long walk, even though she hadn't done any walking of course. She liked this male at least, enough to fall asleep around him without any qualms.

“That sounds like a lot of fun! When it hatches, I’ll see if it’s the type to get along with others. A fish playdate is certainly an interesting concept!”
Leafy had a few Tat-Lung but they needed an antigrowth potion before she could truly work with them in any real capacity. Her Tat-Lung egg was a chance to get some real hands-on experience with the creatures.
“It sounds complicated to me.” Leafy made a face. “I’ve thought about getting a familiar, but I’m not quite sure it’s right for me. Before I’d even consider one, I’d need to get a ton of magical power first though!”
She wasn’t quite sure what type of magic would suit her. She’d just never had the opportunity before. Her eyes lit up in amazement when Jack managed to conjure fire at her fingertips.
“Wow that truly is amazing!” She clapped enthusiastically at the sudden show.
Worm booped in happiness when Lark finally cuddled with him.

"It's a play date then!" she exclaimed happily. She had a Tat-lung who need anti-growthing as well, a Crystal in fact, which she was a little ashamed of, but that was alright, there were workarounds with certain things.
Jack nodded sympathetically, "It's a hard decision to make, it took me years to decide if it would be good for me or not, and I finally went through with it. You're the only one who can answer that question for yourself, you know. I didn't even take one until after I got my sixth node..." So maybe she did have a lot of magical power, she really didn't know at this point, she seemed to have more than anyone else at least, except maybe the Archmage. She smiled sheepishly, "Thanks..."
Lark bobbed her head a little in her sleep and snored a bit. She liked being around other Orbaru, don't get her wrong, but some things were just in her nature. Like sleep.
