Honestly, there were times when Shayna was acually a little bit frightened by the competition - this was going to be one of those times! These pets should feel right at home with their lovely festive decor. "To continue our Vai Min Mur celebration," the woman projected to the contest hall, "We'd like to see all of your freaks! That's right - bring your creepiest, weirdest, or downright scary pets for all to see, just for the occasion!"

Imp for participating in both VMM and the Freak show!
Once Renathan was done registering his other pet for the Vai Min Mur competition, he moved over to the Freak Show competition registration table with Cyrus. This was more difficult; he had come back into caring for Cyrus when she was returned to him from the kid, and she was a lot more easily dealt with now. Something had made her more interested in people than aggressive, thankfully. He was really hoping that she would leave the other pets alone though. He was sure he could control her using the leash, at the very least. "Hello there, I'd like to register my custom malii, Cyrus, into the Freak Show please." While Renathan felt a bit bad for putting Dullahan in the Vai Min Mur contest, since he got easily hurt sometimes and he'd have to be extra careful with him, he felt no remorse for wanting to show off Cyrus. These two, after all, were the next ones on his list for training, so he might as well get them shown off to see what they were capable of. Renathan almost put them in the opposite contests than what he was doing now, but he felt that this was for the best, at least. He felt like he'd have to watch Cyrus more than Dullahan, after all. He was very sure that the floating malii would fit the bill at least a tiny bit for being 'freakish'. She'd probably be proud of it too, if he got an RoT to explain it to her.

They didn't have a good chance of winning, but that was fine, she just wanted to put him in there and go along with things at this point. She grinned and waved to Renathan before going up to the table and announcing herself after he was done, "This is Ergo, I'd like to enter him into the Freak Show please!" The halfbreed stamped a two pronged foot and eyed her a little, eyes glossy like he wasn't fully there. It was fine if they lost, she wasn't in it to win or anything she figured, but she still smiled like she was sure of herself and then moved on again, leading Ergo to the side so other people could register. She had to watch him carefully though, he wasn't fully there and he could melt someone's mind with just a thought if they were lucky, he would just mess with them if they weren't lucky. That was the worst part of it at this point, but the woman knew he would be able to at least compete in the contest no matter what.
And the warden sang Come on somebody Why don't you run Ol' Red's itchin' to have a little fun Get my lantern Get my gun Red'll have you treed before the mornin' comes
What a day, two contests in one month! This time, he was able to bring his pet with him when he went. A heavy duty collar and chain leash, and also his magical nodes and Inyala's shrewd observance, managed to keep the digit dragon under control. He walked along Ashe in an odd lumbering kind of way, his hands instead of feet curling their clawed fingers with each step. The long snake-like tongue slithered out between two of his lip fingers, and nearly dragged on the ground- was that a curling finger at the tip, or were you just imagining things?
Inyala was on Ashe's shoulder at this point in time, sitting in such a way that she could keep an eye on the monster Ashe was leading. She didn't trust that monster, not one bit! Something about the way the lip-fingers laced together to close the mouth... The wings that were actually fingers... So weird, in such a bad skin-crawling kind of way!
Which was exactly why Ashe wanted to enter Gogol into this contest.
"Hey, gorgeous, long time no see! I'm here to register this lovely guy for that Freak Show contest." As Ashe said this, he whispered 'freak show' in case the dragon made of hands also had sensitive ears. He quickly filled out the paper and turned it in.
With how contests go, she knows she’s in it for the long haul with them. Especially when the contests are held only a day apart and the announcement of who has won what in the end will come just about a week later. She already finished hers with Envix, and now its time for Dartmoor to take the stage once more. Though she has to remind herself to call him Azrael for this, its his stage name after all. The soft churning of water from Azrael is rather relaxing to hear while they wait for the row of people before her to sign up their companion’s, and watching from the corner of her eyes she can see Azrael stare curiously around himself with what almost seems like recognition as he stares at certain parts of the building, but that can’t be true can it? Its been so long since the last time she went to this place with him, though back then it also took much more convincing to walk with her to somewhere while feeding him bits of food. Perhaps he has just matured more?
Shrugging the thought off her, she felt glad they only needed to wait six more minutes for the last of the people to be done signing up for this contest. Slowly she makes her way to the desk, checking behind her to make sure that Azrael either stays where he is, or is following her and not moving about closer to the other competitors as she doesn’t want to be disqualified before she even begins her performance with him, should he try to lash out against what he perceives a threat. His self-preservation is rather strong for one who is basically a skeleton submerged into a body of water. When he stays curled up on his spot, she gives a sigh of relief, and starts walking faster to the desk. “Hello again Ma’am,” She says cheerfully, rather glad that there is hardly a need for introductions anymore with how often she enters these contests. “I am here to enter Azrael my Wiurn for the last show your holding here.” She doesn’t really like saying the word Freak for this show, especially not when the words are meant for your companion. For there are those who are sentient enough to understand speech and get their feelings hurt or to have those who know when they are getting insulted. Luckily Azrael isn’t the first, but she’d rather not learn he might be of the latter either.

This really wasn't Fiera's month in terms of contests, to be honest. She was a woman of refinement and grace (if you asked her), a connoisseur of everything elegant and beautiful. Needless to say, something called a 'freak show' wasn't exactly something she had been able to prepare for easily. Her best effort was carried in a basket she had looped over one arm, snoozing quietly as he usually did. Lionel was a custom ghaenelt she had managed to acquire, and like most baby stagnant ghaenelt, had an absolutely atrocious constitution. Despite that however, his coloration was gorgeous, like a venomous animal. If she had any luck at all, the audience would love him. If not, well... she already knew that this wasn't going to be her best month. She didn't let it show as she strutted up to the registration desk however, and slid over Lionel's registration form as if it were a top secret document.
Fanged: Hooray! Thanks Nadia for stepping up to the plate. <3

Darky: I may have looked into things before.. x3
Jul 3, 2020 4:58:37 GMT -6
Riku: I love it when you walk into a room like "Oh, ye, hear thine wisdom." <3 It never ceases to amaze me.
Jul 3, 2020 4:10:33 GMT -6
Darky: From what I've looked at things over the years, both sides are actually correct: the elements do need some fleshing out, but they are also very much their own types of style/flavour/effect as well. Still, one doesn't have to compromise the other x3

Riku: I think Morgan's attempt was less of a "do this now plz?" and more of a "Can we simply acknowledge that this is where we eventually want to go?" -shrug- // Congrats to the agility winners! <3

Riku: For instance, elements can be perceived different than usual. Like Shadow not being evil, or acid being direct and immediate harsh damage rather than a DOT. Things can also get interesting when you mix elements. So imagine a DOT cold move, etc.
Jul 2, 2020 21:33:19 GMT -6
Riku: I also came to the conclusion about every element having the different techs, but like mentioned it would be a massive overhaul so I just didn't mention it. lol I do feel like elements should be more flavor than technique, therefore all having all techs.
Jul 2, 2020 21:30:49 GMT -6
Morgan: I wish I could thumbs-up a cboxpost. /laugh/ If the nerf goes through, they could be made NRS and nerfed down to the other similar moves. But this was just the heart of my first suggestion here, I was hoping to make more as time goes on.
Jul 2, 2020 20:01:13 GMT -6
Haix: We have moves like deluge/harsh gust that cost 7/8 tp, deal 10 fit damage, but lack the NRS modifier that would make them as powerful. Maybe they could be altered slightly to be on a similar level as they have the same cost?
Jul 2, 2020 19:59:20 GMT -6
Morgan: You're right, they're not suited for the only fighting we've ever had on site up to this point.
Jul 2, 2020 19:59:14 GMT -6
Morgan: I agree, but we definitely Do Not Have Those at the moment.
Jul 2, 2020 19:58:55 GMT -6
Aster: Mmm, I dunno if they're not 'good' so much as not really suited for the only type of fighting we have access to, which is one on one. I think the metagame would be pretty different with like, the boss battle type fights Skylark had been workshopping before
Jul 2, 2020 19:58:07 GMT -6
Morgan: I know that curses/poisons are a thing, but there's a reason no one uses those. They aren't technically... Good. (Not with fltnrs10 around. While someone is trying to drain the person's stuff, which doesn't work with hardy anyway, the fltnrs10 kills.)
Jul 2, 2020 19:54:14 GMT -6
Morgan: And if it isn't overpowered for one element to have the tech, then it shouldn't be for others (obvious exception is physical) because the same rules go for all resistances/immunities save for physical. Nothing was meant to be resistant to every element.
Jul 2, 2020 19:51:51 GMT -6
Morgan: Doing it in pieces would be best, because other than spirit's little blurbs (which we've changed other things before for the good of the site) the elements aren't really set in stone with tech choices. Moves were added fairly often before.
Jul 2, 2020 19:49:01 GMT -6
Morgan: I know, but I've been suggesting it for... Quite some time.
Jul 2, 2020 19:47:55 GMT -6
Aster: That would be a pretty big rehaul of the current movepool P:
Jul 2, 2020 19:47:35 GMT -6
Morgan: I personally don't think that the elements matter, IE: I think every element should have all tech choices.
Jul 2, 2020 19:47:00 GMT -6
Aster: And 7 STA is still a pretty significant threshold. Definitely not as much as 10, but
Jul 2, 2020 19:45:13 GMT -6
Aster: Ehhh I still feel like NRS big-damage moves should stay in a few elements. Otherwise it'd kind of be taking away from Fire/Ice/Elec without giving anything to them that other elements have (ie a persistent DOT, or more crowd control for Fire/Ice)
