Ashe went on, tapping each flower and dodging their attacks, seeking out the stone. He finally came to one that wouldn’t open its mouth for him. It even tried to turn away, or start shrinking toward the ground, when Ashe tried. He finally got fed up with it and grabbed the whole flower head and decapitated it. When it was in his hand, he pried the petals open, grabbed his stone, and shook the head of the plant at the others. ”Don’t even try to bite me!” He said, waving it threateningly. But the head wasn’t completely dead yet and some of the teeth nicked his finger. He scowled and threw the head into the flowerbed, turning and storming off toward the mansion. Gremlin followed after him, feeling big and tough because he stood up to the threat and the threat never hurt him. Obviously it was because of his bravery! Ashe stuck his finger in his mouth and sucked off the blood, willing it to stop.

Ashe watched toward the Mansion. So close to those doors now, he knew he could make it! He decided nothing else would distract him, unless of course he found another crystal or something equally as valuable. But nothing would stand in his way, no holes, no nightmares, nothing silly like that. He trudged on with his Sarane in tow, who seemed just as eager to explore wherever it was that his master was heading to in such a hurry. It must be worth it! In a few minutes, surprisingly fast considering how their journey had gone so far, Ashe made it to the steps leading up to the door. He walked up them, two at a time, and reached the doorway. Taking a deep breath, he reached for the handle and twisted. The door swung open easily and Ashe took a step inside. He glanced around, tugged on the leash until Gremlin joined him, then shut the door. As if that would protect him from the things outside.

Ashe couldn’t explain why he felt safer inside, or why he insisted on closing the door. Nothing here would be stopped in its quest for coming after him with a simple wooden door! Especially since, unknown to Ashe, the dragonfly had made it inside and landed on the back of his head, clinging to his hair so weightless he would never feel it. The spirits had also made it inside, as things like doors didn’t stop them one bit. Everything Ashe had feared out there, was in here with him. But ignorance was bliss, wasn’t it? Gremlin was busy sniffing around on the ground, following the scents of people and creatures past. The floor was telling him a tale right now and he seemed to be reading it intently. It was almost a shame when Ashe tugged on the leash and got him moving, aiming to take him out of the foyer and into the first room. It looked like a living room, decorated with a couch, a couple comfy looking chairs, and a coffee table.

They proceeded into the room with a slight caution, simply born from habit. Ashe looked around the room for anything adverse that might threaten them but he saw nothing. Grem was more cautious because it was a closed in space, yet open enough that he didn't feel quite as secure. They explored the room, with Ashe testing the corners for traps and other such things. Finding nothing, he started to relax and look around for treasures. He didn't see anything right off the bat, and ended up deciding to take a few moments to rest on the couch. Even though he hadn't done much today, he felt the exhaustion flooding through his veins as keenly as if he'd run a marathon.
With a groan, he relaxed back into the cushions of the couch. He was unaware when Grem climbed up to join him, the sleepy mood affecting him as well. Together, their eyes slid closed. And the dragonfly went to work.

Was this something odd at play? Sapping his energy, or trying to make him sleep? Or was it the mental taxation of constantly having his guard up and being unable to tell fact from fiction? Ashe didn’t know and he didn’t really care. Eyelids were too heavy to keep up, and the comforting feeling of a body snuggled up with him was too much. He gave himself over, and the tired hatchling didn’t put up much of a fight, either. He had explored and goofed around just as much as his master. Spinning dreams was difficult and taxing, but some were gifted with an affinity for it. Some creatures could sense the chemical balances in the brains of others and use it to their advantage. This dragonfly was an expert, though it was too small and of lesser intellect so it didn't recognize and appreciate it's own abilities. Instinctively, it guided Ashe on a quest that could only be traversed in the dreamscape.

The world Ashe ‘woke’ up in was, in fact, dreamy. Purples and pinks and blues swirled together to make things pop and shimmer, but when you were living it, it seemed perfectly plausible and realistic. You never questioned anything in a dream, and Ashe didn’t question anything now. He was with his Sarane, who was unleashed but he was sticking close to Ashe so he didn’t worry too much. They were in the mansion still, and there were half a dozen doors spread out before him. Ashe pondered which to take, and even asked Grem for his opinion. In his dream, Ashe didn't question the fact that Grem spoke and replied to Ashe.
"Take number four,"[/i] he said, and Ashe obeyed. He walked over to the fourth door and opened it, walking through. Grem stayed close to him and followed, before the door slammed shut, nearly on his tail. Once through, there was a hallway that opened into another room. And this room... looked like a lava lamp, for lack of better descriptive words available.

When Ashe said the room looked like a lava lamp, he wasnt exaggerating. The colorful hues danced around in a melting pattern, blobs shifting upward and downward, sluggish and glorious. He watched, stunned in the most pleasant way, then he cast around to try to find the source here. He always wanted to figure out the whys behind the cool things that happened; that was in part why he was so onto messing with dead things. Find out what made them come to life. If only it was as simple as having a scientist share their secrets, but alas, no one would help. So he was doing it on his own. He didn't exactly want to create, either; but he didn't want to destroy, so to speak. He wanted control.
Interrupting his thoughts, the little sarane scurried into the room like a bull bursting out of the pen. His jaws snapped at something dark, which stood out against the deep, but bright, red of the room. What the hell was that?

Ashe walked after his sarane, curious but not in a rush to find out. He felt relaxed, almost chill, hanging out in this room with the slow moving rainbow of colors, lit from behind by something. He got distracted twice and once he was convinced he was upside down, walking on the ceiling. The blobs moving both up and down made it very hard to figure out where you were, and even harder to walk in a straight line. But Ashe gave it a try and walked along after his pet. The baby had the thing, whatever it was, cornered. It couldn't even fly out from above because Grem was fast enough to block it.
"Good job, Grem!" Ashe said, praising. He stopped, also moving over the shadow thing so it couldnt fly above even if it got passed the hatchling's jaws. "Now what are you…." The thing hissed at him, and that's when Ashe saw it was protecting something.

To Ashe, it looked awesome. It looked like something he definitely wanted to have hanging around him; it resembled a dark, shadowy floating head with wisps of shadow swirling around it. When it opened its mouth, he felt a chill go down his spine. Though, of course, Ashe was quick to assure himself he wasn't scared in the least, rather he couldn't help it when nature did its thing. Like a morning boner even if he hadn't had enjoyable dreams. "That's not an answer," Ashe told it. "You're coming home with me, I think." but as Aahe said that, the nightmare and the terror from earlier, swooped around him and joined the terror hovering there near its treasure. Ashe was shocked there were so many, but he opened his hands in offering, completely willing to take them all. They seemed to understand and swarmed around him, hovering like little clouds. Meanwhile, Grem was thieving the prizes left behind; bottles of… stuff. He curled up on top of them like a guardian protecting his hoard.

Ashe wasn't going to let the sarane keep them, though. He scooped up the bottles, and the hatchling, and put the bottles away in pockets while holding the baby under one arm. Grem squirmed and fought him, but to no avail since the human was,for at the time being, stronger than he was. It wouldn't last forever but you could bet the human would take advantage while he could. Ashe had been planning on taking his spoils into the next room; however, things didnt happen quite the way he'd planned. When he had a hold of everything, the dreamworld distorted, stretching and swirling until the color was gone and instead was replaced with…. Reality.
It appeared they were back in the real world, no more fun lava lamp colors! Ashe frowned around himself, then realized with a jolt that his nightmare spirits were still with him! And now they were joined by a dragonfly...caught in a dream catcher. Whoops! That must be what pulled him out.

Ashe walked over to the trapped dragonfly. On the way, he realized he was still holding the runt. He set the sarane hatchling down and continued over. Freed, Grem scurried around looking at everything and trying to chew on everything. Poor little guy, the dreamworld had taken a lot out of him! While Ashe wasn't paying him any attention, he started to gnaw on the first thing he could get his little claws into. Which happened to be a mask. Kind of creepy, kind of weird, and not that tastes, but the texture of it was enough to amuse him.
Meanwhile, Ashe was working on freeing the dreaming dragonfly from where it was caught in the web of a dreamcatcher. So these things worked… good to know! But they were only supposed to catch bad dreams, weren't they? He gently pried the dragonfly's wings free and held it gently, letting it recover. It fanned its wings lazily, recovering some energy and testing those delicate wings to make sure no irreparable damage had been done.

It was a new month and it had taken Ashe a while to recover from the craziness of the past month, but he'd made it and brought his same companion with him to enjoy something similar all over again. He enjoyed spring because it was mostly uplifting feelings of daydreaming and relaxing, the relief after the harshness of winter. Ashe felt it in his very bones, felt great just to be alive right now. Gremlin seemed to be feeling it, too, because he had a bit of a bounce in his step that Ashe hadn't noticed before. The hatchling fluttered his wings and wiggled his tail, occasionally testing Ashe's alertness and the strength of the straps of his harness by darting off after a butterfly, or a dragonfly, or a grasshopper.
They reached the Mansion grounds and Ashe stood just outside the gate, staring into the charming valley of flowers that separated him from the house this time. It looked peaceful and happy... The sun was shining. Dare he go inside? Taking a deep breath and holding it, he finally got the nerve to step inside.

It was the next day after their very long training session, where Ashe spent the whole time throwing things at his beloved pet. He had decided, for both of their sakes and also his selfish enjoyment, to change up the location for some additional training. Instead of returning to the boring park, Ashe led Reoz to the Mansion. Like always, it had changed with the start of the month. Now there was a wicked wrought iron gate around the property, the gate of which creaked as Ashe opened it and ushered his corpse through. Reoz shambled along, glancing around. He didn't care where he was, it was obvious, but Ashe was thinking that the more time he spent with Reoz, the more he started acting like a creature, and less like a lifeless corpse. A man could hope there was something in that brain! He shut the gate behind him, out of a habit of closing pasture gates, and headed in. First up was a graveyard... Spooky things happened in graveyards. Even in early evening. Reoz: 0 1.5 Ashe: 2 2/20 [Ashe is using Sever Bond at the cost of 4 MP] October post 1
