Morgan sighed, and sat down the bottle on the table. "Yes, and no. It's not usually deadly. You can drink an amount of it that is deadly. However, it is usually used for... UGH." This was hard to explain to someone without any background knowledge of it, let alone to a kid that really should NEVER be drinking in the first place. How to make this undesirable for a rather malleable young mind? But also not make them curious? "It's used to make people feel a bit loose. Humans use it to have diminished mental faculties for a small amount of time. It wears off eventually." Morgan said. "It does have some medicinal uses in rare cases. Some of it is good for washing out wounds, some of it is good for pain relief, some of it can cure stuff like sore throats or at least make it feel like you have." Morgan said. Vixie was still confused for a moment, and then suddenly seems to glean some kind of understanding. "It has astringent and intoxicating effects. Smells gross, too." She said.
Morgan let out a breath they didn't know they had been holding.

Morgan was pretty much hoping that they wouldn't have to start putting the liquor in some kind of a lockbox. It would be a mess to come in for a drink and have to fumble with keys to get to it. They began to figure out exactly what they wanted to drink, pouring a few different flavors into a tumbler first and then immediately crushed a piece of ice to go into it.
"Why do you want to have... lessened mental faculties?" Vixie asked, looking absolutely concerned. It didn't make sense to her, not entirely.
Morgan sighed, quietly, but finished up making the drink anyway. "It does take some amount of it to do it, but n-naw." The good thing was that now it seemed like Vixie was completely uninterested. Good. The human took a sip and then smiled at Vixie. "Alright, now I'm gonna cook. Let's see..." Morgan turned towards the fridge again.

Vixie looked a little nervous, perhaps because there wasn't a whole lot she could do at the moment. She glances over the chairs, and instead finds herself a nice place on the floor to sit. "So, what are we going to do this evening?" She had surmised that they were going to do something later, but wasn't sure what to expect. She was learning, after all.
Morgan was pulling out a big cut of galabex meat from the refrigerator that was now completely thawed and ready to work with. "I was t-thinking we could go out and do some stargazing. I'll teach you some constellation names, show you some of the books I have that only have pictures in them; a few have words." Morgan said, as they bent down to pick up some of the garnishings they would need. "I can start showing you the alphabet and see where we go from there."

Vixie listened, curiously. She'd been wondering when Morgan was going to skip the 'difficult' aspects of training her in science by simply giving her the tools to train herself. This was apparently something that would have been easier done with a hatchling, too, so it was good that they were going to start early. "I... understand." She said, mind already whirring a mile a minute at she considered the implications of this. She didn't really want to be alone, and definitely did not want to go back to her old family either. She didn't fit in with the clan; it was too huge and too bustling for her. She had no interest in it.
She'd have to find a way to keep Morgan around, and that was that.
Morgan wasn't even aware of her thoughts of course, as they began getting the flour together and putting the oil in the pan. A few herbs were chopped, and placed in with the flour.

Morgan was a pretty decent cook, and they figured that they ought to show the Draconic what good food tasted like, at the very least. "You're g-gonna love this!" Morgan exclaimed. "Friend galabex meat w-will knock all four of your red socks off, I guarantee that, Fetus!" Morgan said. Well, they seemed to be in a decent mood, at least. For some reason, that put Vixie at a little more ease. Still, what? "Red... Socks?" She asked, curiously.
"Your markings, I guess. Looks kinda lashak to me." Morgan said. "Come from a distant family member or somethin'?" They asked.
"Yup; it actually seems like a lot of my clan members have them. Pretty common to have the red feet." She said, glancing down at her own toes. She had pretty long gloves, herself, though she figured they came from her father. Shalaya tended to have larger leg markings whenever they passed down. She wondered why.

Morgan was trying to keep Vixie out of her own head. Morgan had seen this before; namely in theirself, and it was much better to keep someone like that from retreating into their own thoughts too often. However, they also didn't want to stand their and stupidly babble at her, either. Morgan chopped the rest of the herbs and dropped them into the floor, and then retrieved a couple of eggs to put in a separate bowl. A break and a bit of whisking later, and Morgan had a good start for the galabex meat. Morgan started the oil up, and then cut the galabex meat into tiny medallions.
The entire time, Vixie watched with curiosity behind Morgan. The human could almost feel her eyes burrowing into their back. It made them feel really awkward, but eh, perhaps she was interested in the process of cooking. It was, after all, nothing but applied chemistry.
