Fanged moved away from Imogen, putting about a field’s length of distance between them. The Rakai was distracted with a patch of strong smelling plants that were appealing to her. This time, now that she had done away with the treats entirely, it would be good indication to see if Imogen understood the command. She used her fingers to whistle loudly, attracting the attention of her Rakai. Imogen raised her head, trying to track down where the sound was coming from. When she saw where Fanged was, she trotted over, moving with a decent sense of urgency.
“Good girl, Imogen! That’s perfect! I’ll need you to do that again!” Fanged praised her pet, giving her a good scratch between the ears while she did so. “Let’s try that again.”
She waited for Imogen to grow distracted once more. This time, Fanged would test her knowledge in a straightforward way. The distance wasn’t too great and she was clearly in view. She amplified her whistle with her fingers, but she only let out a sharp, short whistle. Imogen took a moment to track down Fanged, but this time she was quicker to start moving closer to the woman. When Imogen reached her, Fanged was quick to reward her with a head pat.
“Nicely done! How about we move onto the next trick?”
Now that she had taught Imogen some of the basics, she could move onto a new trick. It took her a moment to decide to teach the Rakai stay. It would be easier to teach Imogen further tricks now that she knew “no”. She took a few steps away from Imogen.
“Imogen, stay!” she told the Rakai.
Imogen didn’t know what the command meant, but when she moved to follow Fanged, the woman was quick to tell her no. Fanged felt bad, but it would be the only way that she would learn the new trick. Imogen ducked her head, displeased with being told off, but she stood still in place.
“That’s a good girl! I need you to do exactly that.”
Imogen perked up at the praise. Fanged stepped closer, leaning in to give the Rakai a quick pat on the head. She didn’t want her to feel like she’d been scolded, but it couldn’t really be helped.
She would need to repeat the trick so that Imogen could begin to grasp it properly. Fanged placed herself a fair distance away from her, but made sure that she was still close for Imogen to follow her movements clearly. She held out her hand in a stop motion, making sure to give the command at the same time.
The Rakai stood in place, but Fanged suspected that was mostly because she didn’t have any incentive to move at the moment. She would have to change that. She grabbed a piece of food, ready to use it as temptation for Imogen. The Rakai suddenly turned to watch her intently, the scent of food clearly catching her attention. She moved to take a step closer to Fanged in attempt to reach the food.
“Imogen, no! Stay!” Fanged was quick to reprimand her.
Imogen ducked her head, sulking at the command. She remained in place for now.
Teaching stay always made Fanged feel guilty, but she knew it was an important trick for her pets to learn. When Imogen remained in place for long enough, she switched into praise mode. She stepped close to the Rakai, leaning downwards to give Imogen a long scratch behind the ears. With the attention, Imogen relaxed a little. Fanged then stepped back, eager to try the trick again. Repetition was the key to teaching a trick like this and she didn’t think the Rakai needed a break just yet.
She held up her hand, hoping that the extra gesture would help Imogen learn. She then slowly began backing away from the Rakai, watching carefully to see if she would remain in place. To her surprise, Imogen remained still for now, her eyes focused on Fanged’s retreating form. She didn’t want to press her luck, so when she got a fair distance away, she stopped moving.
“Good girl, Imogen! That was fantastic!” She smiled brightly, pleased with the progress that Imogen was making.
She returned to Imogen, dismissing her from her command. The Rakai relaxed and flopped down onto the ground. Fanged allowed her to take a break, not wanting to push her too hard. When Imogen was rested, they started back up with training again.
“Stay!” Fanged commanded, this time foregoing the gesture.
She began to back up, moving a little more quickly this time. For a moment, Imogen looked as though she wanted to follow, but she hesitated. Fanged kept her expression neutral, continuing to move backward. Imogen fidgeted in place but remained standing where she had been told to. Fanged continued moving, placing more distance than she had anytime before between the two of them.
“Alright Imogen, you did a great job!” She called out to the Rakai.
The small creature relaxed, pleased that she had performed well.
Imogen scrambled forward, eager to meet Fanged in the middle as she walked back to where she had been. The woman leaned down, stroking the Rakai’s back when she was close enough to do so. With that settled, Fanged was ready to test the trick one last time. If Imogen succeeded, then the woman was confident she had truly learned the trick.
“Imogen, stay!” Fanged told her.
Without warning, Fanged took off in a light jog. To her credit, Imogen remained standing in place despite the sudden movements from Fanged. She continued jogging, only stopping when she saw Imogen growing smaller and smaller. She didn’t want to get too far away from her Rakai, but she was certainly pleased with the outcome. Since Imogen was rather far, Fanged whistled to indicate that she was released from the command. She jogged back, meeting Imogen again in the middle. She leaned down and stroked the soft fur of her Rakai companion.
Fanged felt confident in the steady trust that was growing between her and Imogen. Once she had these basic tricks trained, she felt that her and Imogen could accomplish anything. Next on the list was to train follow. Fanged had already trained Dream this trick, so she knew what to do for Imogen as well. She would start with food and she made sure to cut a sizable chunk of meat for the Rakai to become interested. When she moved closer to beg Fanged for food, the woman took a step back.
“Follow!” She gave the new command word. Imogen tilted her head to the side for a moment before inching closer to her.
She took more steps back, pleased when Imogen continued to follow her. Food was a powerful tool. She continued taking a few steps at a time, but she stopped before Imogen could grow frustrated with the lack of reward.
“Good girl! Here’s the treat!” She praised Imogen, glad that the Rakai had followed her movements. She handed the treat over to her, stroking the top of her head while she ate. When she was finished, Fanged allowed her to take a break. When she had rested for long enough they got back to work.
“Imogen, follow!” She gave her the command again.
Without warning, she walked quickly away from the Rakai. Imogen was caught off guard, but she moved to follow Fanged. The woman suspected that she didn’t quite grasp the trick yet and was simply worried that she would be left behind. She tried to move quickly, but Imogen was just as fast. When she was tired she stopped and gave Imogen more praise.
“Fantastic job! You did that well!” She leaned down and gave her companion a quick scratch behind the ears. She appreciated that Imogen was such a hard worker.
Imogen was pleased with the praise that Fanged was giving her. She watched the woman intently as she stepped away from her. She was ready to continue training, but she’d wait for Fanged to give her a command first.
“Follow!” She clicked her tongue encouragingly as she began to walk away from Imogen.
She’d need to make this trick more difficult for the Rakai. She’d need to take some trickier paths and see if the baby pet was still inclined to follow her. She started by stepping through a field of overgrown grass. It was simple for Fanged to walk through, but the small Rakai would have some more trouble with things. When Imogen hesitated, Fanged was quick to chime in.
“Come on girl, follow!” She snapped her fingers, trying to keep Imogen’s attention focused on her.
With the extra prompting, Imogen pushed forward following Fanged as she navigated through the overgrown field.
When they reached the other side of the grassy area, Fanged stopped to praise Imogen.
“Perfect job! Imogen, you’re very clever!” She leaned down and patted her pet on the top of her head.
She gave Imogen another piece of meat as a reward. Fanged had grown to accept that pets tended to need food as incentive, so she wouldn’t try to control their food intake. After all, she wasn’t giving them enough to be unhealthy about it. When Imogen was finished eating, the woman prepared to try out the trick again.
“Imogen, follow!” She gave the command word loudly.
This time she would see if Imogen would follow her with her understanding of the command word alone. There would be no extra urging or treats. She began to walk away, turning her head slightly in order to observe if the Rakai was following her. To her delight, Imogen was indeed walking along behind her.
She stopped momentarily, giving Imogen brief praise before stating the command word again. This time, she would see how far the Rakai would follow her. Like before, Imogen had gotten the hang of the trick enough to continue following Fanged as she walked away. Fanged gave no outward encouragement, relying on Imogen’s willpower alone to follow through with the trick.
They continued onward, moving at a steady pace. Fanged showed no signs of stopping anytime soon. Imogen continued to follow. Perhaps it was partly due to a sense of stubbornness from the Rakai, but she wasn’t about to complain about her pet properly performing the trick.
“Alright that’s far enough. You did great!” Fanged exclaimed as she finally came to a full stop.
Imogen allowed the woman to pat her head, grateful for the praise. When she drew back, Fanged realized that they had wandered quite far from their initial training area.
The next trick to train Imogen would be to teach her how to sit on command. The area she was in now was an open space with lots of soft grass. This seemed like the ideal place to train the trick. Fanged got close to Imogen, placing her hands soft near the bottom of the Rakai’s back. Fanged applied pressure, encouraging her to enter the sit-down position. With some encouragement, Imogen slunk down in the proper position.
“Sit!” Fanged gave her the new command word.
She released the Rakai from her hold and gave her some food as a reward. Imogen was pleased for the reward, even if she didn’t quite understand what Fanged expected from her. When she was finished eating, the woman would have her try the trick again.
“Imogen, sit!” The Rakai didn’t understand the command word, but when Fanged pressed down on her lower back again, she was forced to sit.
This time, Fanged held her in place for a little while longer before releasing. She was then quick to give Imogen more food, wanting to keep the reward close to her performance of the trick. Now that Imogen had a baseline for the trick, the woman would try to be less controlling in helping her into the correct position. She gripped another piece of food, ready to tempt Imogen with it. She held it over the Rakai’s head. She continued to move it backwards until it was out of her line of sight. Imogen sat down automatically as she tried to keep the treat in view.
“Sit!” Fanged reiterated the command word.
She waited a little longer, making Imogen hold the sit position for longer than she had before. After a few extra moments had passed, Fanged gave her the treat. She patted Imogen on top of her head while she ate.
Imogen’s performance had certainly been better than when Fanged had guided her into place, but she would still need to repeat the motion. In order to accomplish this, she took another strip of meat and waited for Imogen to be ready to try again. The Rakai soon stood up once more, eager to see if she could get more food from the woman. She held the food above Imogen’s head again, waiting for her to assume the sitting position.
“Imogen, sit!” She commanded the moment that Imogen moved to sit down.
She waited for Imogen to assume the proper position and then waited further to see if the Rakai would stay there. When she did, she was promptly rewarded with the treat held in Fanged’s outstretched hand. She also received an additional scratch behind the ears. Fanged was impressed with her progress and now she would need to see if Imogen could perform the trick entirely on her own.
Fanged allowed Imogen to have a quick break. She didn’t want the Rakai to get tired of performing the trick after all. It was odd to think that her companion was still a baby, but Fanged knew that she needed to accommodate her young age as best as she could. After she had reclaimed some energy the women got Imogen ready to continue training. Fanged took a step back, not wanting her body language to influence Imogen’s willingness to perform the trick. She needed to see if she could do this on her own.
“Sit!” She gave her the command. When Imogen hesitated, Fanged repeated the word. Only then did the Rakai move, lowering herself down into a sitting position.
“Good girl! That’s exactly right!” The praise came quicker than it had before. She wanted to build the connection between Imogen listening to her and the trick she had just successfully done.
Morgan: No one knows yet. But I did want to make it clear that the jar itself isn't used for lotine husbandry in any way. c:

Twilight-Claw: I'm only assuming that it does something similar like a Fungal Beast that infects a Leaf-scatter. (the one with moss and I think it was a pink flower growing on the head.)
Jun 5, 2020 4:18:34 GMT -6
Silver: I'll try it soon and we'll find out!
Jun 5, 2020 4:16:11 GMT -6
Silver: I don't think anyone knows yet!
Jun 5, 2020 4:16:05 GMT -6
Darky: What did the 'infection' do again?
Jun 5, 2020 4:14:43 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Thanks for this information, its really useful to know! <3
Jun 5, 2020 4:14:30 GMT -6
Morgan: The lolatic doesn't disappear after one use, and can be reused on the same lotine when it is allowed to 'infect' a lotine- to my knowledge.
Jun 5, 2020 1:41:37 GMT -6
Morgan: The only effect/thing that the jar can be used for is to open up into a lolatic. The jar itself has no use in lotine breedings.
Jun 5, 2020 1:39:52 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: and the jar is then gone, if with the creature I am more guessing with this the creature doesn't disappear and it has unlimited use.
Jun 5, 2020 0:17:55 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Something else I am wondering about with the Lotine breeding is whether one would use the jar the Lolatic comes from in the breeding, or actually the creature itself. I'm assuming with it if its the jar, then it gives people only one shot in a breeding,
Jun 5, 2020 0:16:08 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Then using it in my rps is definitely just for the sake of rp's and not for anything additional.
Jun 5, 2020 0:12:17 GMT -6
Renathan: Fish are unlimited use once bought though. c:
Jun 4, 2020 22:31:17 GMT -6
Renathan: There's no additional effect for adding a fish to a magical berry in a lotine breeding. Magical Berry is kinda it's own thing. Adding a fish for roleplay value shouldn't hurt, but it has no effect when used on a magical berry lotine breeding.
Jun 4, 2020 22:27:14 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: be just for the sake of rp, and perhaps seeing if it might lent a bigger chance to multiple offspring with unique pattern. X3
Jun 4, 2020 15:31:01 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: I think your right on it being unlimited use yeah, although.. *cough* I only found out a couple hours after I started writing that I had yet to buy the fish in question so used the one you could get for free as a replacement, it still was meant to mostly
Jun 4, 2020 15:30:59 GMT -6
Riku: From what I loosely understand about the fish is that it isn't one-use, whereas the berry is. I feel like there wouldn't be any consequence of 'using' the fish...which I'd think just ooc wouldn't be counted for whatever rolls or whatever it is that it uses
Jun 3, 2020 14:14:30 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Thanks for that piece of info Ren! <3 | But would it be allowed for the flavor of the rp if the berry wasn't filling enough for the Lotine?
Jun 1, 2020 6:09:21 GMT -6
Renathan: There is no need to double up on a fish and a magical berry (doesn't change the effect of the berry at all) in a lotine breeding.
Jun 1, 2020 6:02:21 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Does anyone know if it is possible to combine both a magical berry and a fish in a Lotine breeding? Or is you can only choose one of them? (right now writing a Lotine breeding)
Jun 1, 2020 5:36:49 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: I am still interested in trading it for a green drake.
