Morgan had not at all been expecting this huge of a turnout. What, did people not have enough to do during their time? Morgan frowned, and hung back a bit of course well beyond the crowds. Morgan did not do crowds. Even Nico could feel Morgan's anxiety and was reacting to it by staying at heel but looking as intimidating as possible, his eyes sharp. He wasn't at all intimidating, but he was trying. Morgan watched as a few different people fell out, and immediately people replaced them, all of them pawing at the quest board like a wall of flapping hands. Gross.
Eventually Morgan saw someone behind the quest board. Really? Behind the quest board?!? That was a mess. Nothing would be back there! Morgan was about to turn around and leave, perhaps come back later to see if the hawwing hoard was gone, but the individual waggled a finger at the pair. What?

Morgan's brow furrowed. Bad idea, definitely don't go around to the other side of the board to look at them. That sounded like a bad idea; and Morgan was sure they'd probably be mugged. However, Morgan had brought their fireworks shooter, and of course Nico was there. A second or two was taken by the human, who tilted their head as they considered the situation, and finally Morgan turned around to step away. They would come back later, and see if the board was any less crowded with people. It was a far cry from the previous month; when the board was completely covered with papers and no one was around to take even the most pathetic of requests (actually, Morgan wasn't thinking about the pup but of the toilet papered trees). "Come on Nico, we'll come back later." Maybe later, there would be less of a crowd, and no weirdos behind the quest board.

They took a good walk around the park and soon enough were back towards the direction of the quest board. Morgan was hoping that they would be correct in this move, but when they returned, they couldn't even get as close to the board as they had earlier since a ton more people had gotten there. Frustrated and disgusted, Morgan turned and made a face. "Ugh." They murmured to Nico, who looked up at them with trusting chocolate colored eyes. "I don't think we're gonna manage today, Nico." Morgan was disappointed. They really didn't have the time after today to grab a quest, they wanted to start it early this month just in case something kept them busy later on in the month. Morgan was employed now, and didn't have as much time for other things like this. Still, it would be a waste...
Again, the shady individual behind the quest board waggled their finger at them.

Ugh, Morgan thought. They might as well see what was going on. Nico was already on edge, and Morgan was going to let him stay that way so that he could help protect both of them. Morgan wasn't sure when suddenly they began to trust Nico with that, but now they couldn't imagine feeling like he couldn't at least hold his own until Morgan was able to help at the very least. "Be on your guard, Nico." Morgan whispered anyway. It wasn't a command, but the feeling was mutual across it would seem, both were on edge. Morgan slipped around the outside of the large mass of people, to get a better luck at the weirdo behind the questing board. Why the heck would someone even be behind the quest board at all, let alone right now?
Morgan was a little shocked to actually see what kind of person this was, closer now.

Nico was certainly on his guard, his hackles raised, his head bobbed down. He growled at the figure, and Morgan's body was already quite stiffened even before the growl. Muscles tensed, brow creased, Morgan whispers low and dangerous to the cold air between them; "Who ARE you?" Complete with a skeptical glare. Nico looked every bit a miniature lion, with how anxious he was and how tightly his hackles were raised. The individual cracked them a grin, and Morgan took a split second to take in what this individual even looked like.
Tall, too skinny, angular. Dark hair that stuck out at odd ends but still somehow seemed to be relatively groomed. They had a tattered, horrible looking longcoat on; scratch that, a taupe-colored labcoat for some reason. It was frayed at the edges and definitely floating. The collars were stiff, the individual's pants legs were frayed at the very ends, and the person's boots were scuffed but thick. Some sort of black dust covered them in places thickly.

It didn't take long for Morgan to realize that the black 'powder' was sort of rising up off of the individual like smoke, stardusted with bright diamond wake; and of course a bit of this had been grabbed and then scraped across the fellow's eyes, creating a surprisingly neat and winged eye shadow. Morgan tilted their head, and looked at the individual in the eyes; surprised to find that they were bright golden and strange. Almost shimmering in sheen. Yeah; something was wrong with this person, Morgan decided. This was not a good idea. Morgan leaned back on their heels for a second as if they were going to turn and leave, but the individual begins playing with something in their hands- playing cards? That's odd.
Morgan tried to get a good look at what kind of cards these were, but they felt Nico bump against Morgan's left leg, which kept them from being able to focus on it.

Morgan understood, somewhat suddenly, why the houluh had bumped into their leg. They'd been moving forward a bit, just leaning forward, and it seemed like there were suddenly less people around judging by the noise... No wait, there were still the same amount of people around! Morgan had taken just a second to glance to their side and noticed that the volume of the mass of people flocking this board had not gotten smaller, however Morgan could not hear them much for whatever reasons. Nico seemed to have noticed it too, Morgan could tell by how stiff he was at their side. However, the houluh had not taken his eyes off of the strange individual not a second. Morgan glanced back up at him, now on the backs of their feet instead of leaned too far forward, and they noticed some sort of additional strange thing about him; but they couldn't quite figure out what it was at the second. Something flickering.

Morgan curled their upper lip at him, teeth showing; more animalistic than their humanoid shape would suggest. "W-what is wrong with you?" Morgan said, and then the individual finished their tired in a way that Morgan did not really expect. No thievery (Morgan's labcoat pockets were so deep they'd definitely feel something go into there) but some sort of under the table bargain that made even the generally cardinal Morgan feel uncomfortable about the entire exchange. If only because Morgan liked to know what they were agreeing to before they did so. "I think you've got the w-wrong person." Morgan said with a little more snark than would perhaps be entirely intelligent. Morgan would just wait for something specifically from the board, not anything from this... Individual. However, they couldn't seem to quite walk away...
Nico snarled, and lunged immediately for the arm of the individual and was frozen a foot off of the ground immediately.

Nico could breathe, and could look around, but he was otherwise quite frozen in place. Morgan's face contorted into a sneer, and they reached out to grab for the man; finding their arm frozen in place as well. "Let him GO!" Morgan cried, and the individual winked at them. Morgan watched as Nico dropped to the ground instead of keeping his forward Momentum, and Morgan was allowed to strain against the field for a second before they were allowed to dive for the hound a little too late. They grabbed immediately for him anyway. "Nico, Nico- are you okay?" Ignoring the strange flickering dusty individual. "YOU-" Morgan said, rising up as soon as they found that Nico was a tad bruised but otherwise unhurt. "W-hat kind of a job is it? Since you are w-wasting our time with this... Whatever this is!" Morgan was IRATE. No, that was an understatement.

Practically foaming at the mouth; Morgan blinked, and suddenly, both Morgan and Nico were... Somewhere else. The pair were already on their feet, glancing around, ready to fight. Nico was bristling, Morgan would have been bristling had they had fur instead of the blonde mop atop their head, and they realized that they weren't quite sure where they were. It certainly was not where they were before. "D-down the rabbit hole, it looks like Nico. Looks like we need to find... An object." Wow, that was even a little vague for Morgan really... What kind of an object? Was there really any kind of an object that would stand out? For all Morgan knew, and with how nutty this individual had seen, it could be a blade of grass or something. Nico was still bristling, but he was practically connected to Morgan at the hip. Thankfully, Morgan realized that they were indoors... Somewhere.

It was pretty dark all around, but Morgan had their own glasses and glowing eyes to thank for beginning to see about like normally just a tad quicker than most humans. However, it was pretty obvious to see that poor Nico was not able to see anything. His poor pupils were blown so wide, and he was breathing pretty nervously. Morgan could feel the nervousness prickle through them like cacti growing from desert sand. "Come on Nico, follow my body." Morgan said, leaning their leg into him. Their voice was in a hushed tone, they were certain that they were in some kind of a tunnel. It was just stale enough in the air to make Morgan know that they were below some kind of ground, even if it was mountainous instead. "I think... We're in a bit of a p-pickle." Morgan mumbles, voice low so as not to travel. Nico kept close to their leg.

Nico may not always know what Morgan was saying, but Morgan did have other ways. Nico naturally stuck close to Morgan anyway and understood both body language and emotions from Morgan; but the RoT was what tilted it in their favor this time. Morgan felt more comfortable knowing that Nico would stick close to them, despite the embarrassment at kinda... Needing him to. It was irrational at best. "Good boyo..." Morgan muttered, and then quietly chose a direction- both seemed equally likely via sight, but Morgan decided to follow the slightly spicy scent in the air; spicy-sweet, that was on one side. Morgan placed their hand along the wall and moved forward, slowly but surely in that direction. Nico followed, body pressed up against Morgan's leg at the knee. It was a long tunnel, and Morgan expected to be walking down for a goodly amount of time, and with Nico by their side they felt confident.

Confidence was really all Morgan needed, well, that and the determination to do something. Morgan was absolutely determined to figure out what was going on in order to get back home. They could tell that they were far, far away from home- and that was certainly not where Morgan wanted to be. Let alone, Morgan was concerned about the fact that they didn't know what kind of item this thing needed them to find. They sneered in the darkness just thinking about it, squinting. Their sight wasn't any better than anyone else's in the dark of course, perhaps even less so than the normal due to their glasses, but they could definitely see pretty decently. It was a smooth, black tunnel, with nothing at all in it; nothing to trip over. Morgan was thankful about it, since Nico probably stood a better chance with nothing around. Some folks probably would have been stranded with fear. Morgan was not most people.

Morgan was silent as they followed along the wall, Nico up against their leg as if his life depended on it, and since he couldn't see it might. So far, Morgan couldn't detect anything in the incredibly low light that could put them in danger, but they were quite nervous about possible traps along the wall or something. In fact, they had no idea where the light was coming from. There had to be a small amount of it somewhere in order for them to see, but it wasn't like there were any lights at the ends of either side of the tunnel. Nervously, Morgan was checking along the wall every so often hoping not to find any strange holes or anything. Eventually, Morgan began figuring out that there was something sparkly along the walls, a bunch of tiny sparkling things. Oh; so this is where the light was coming from in fact.

Nico was sniffing at something along the wall, and finally, he barks. "What is it-" Morgan begins to ask, and then they stand there, suddenly stark still. The strange things in the walls were getting bigger; and it was becoming more and more obvious to them that... Further down... The wall were no longer solid black. They were a soft and fuzzy foggy look, with little glowing tiny bits here and there that were pretty 'large' now, about the size of lady bugs. "Oh- w-what is this?" Morgan said, still as quiet as possible. It was strange and honestly scary. Morgan was able to see much more easily now, and moved away from the walls, with Nico following super closely at heel. Morgan wasn't sure what that strange substance was, but they weren't about to touch it. They continued on, pushing past all the strange floating lights to go towards... A large light that they could suddenly see.
