Welp, it was that time of month again for Princess! She'd produced quite a few lola by this point, but Renathan hadn't really changed his method of operations, so to speak. Renathan knew that if they kept working the same way each month that she should produce more lovely lola, and perhaps with any luck a collector would pick up their hoard or something. It would be a long road, but Princess was growing more and more easy to work with. Still, he was heavily considering feeding her a berry one month, and then growing her lola offspring to work in her place. Perhaps when it was time to retire her, Renathan thought. For now, she seemed to be quite fine; if a little nervous like she usually was whenever it was time to 'produce' a lola. Renathan was going to use magical fish again to get her to follow him, and they made their way to the breeding center as per usual.

Renathan was never really that confident with Princess, perhaps it was because she was quite intelligent and he felt bad for never really understanding until the 'day of' that she was ready to produce lola, or perhaps it was because he was never really all that confident with breeding creatures and more complicated than an orbaru (of which Princess certainly both was and was not more complicated by quite a bit). On one hand, doing an orbaru breeding -right- was a complex process that took a lot of work. On the other hand, Lotine were so smart that it was sometimes difficult to get Princess to do what he wanted, but he also didn't really feel confident with training her; therein lies the rub- she probably could benefit from a lot of training. However, Renathan really just didn't have the time to work with her like that, so they made due with fish.

Princess largely did not associate herself with her own name, but she did answer to the tone of Renathan's voice, much to his happiness. She was finally beginning to get a little more attached to him, and now whenever he was around she went near him and watched him, even trying to play. Renathan was beyond pleased, though sometimes she nipped at his tails and he wasn't really a big fan of that. The first time she had done it he remembered just about calling out, though he'd managed not to just barely. Thankfully, she hadn't did any permanent harm, and as soon as he had stiffened up and yelped a bit, she had stopped and looked up at him worriedly. Since, she had still attempted to play with his tails, but not nearly as roughly as she had attempted originally. Renathan was glad that she was too distracted to do that right now.

Princess always got really distracted like this around the time of month, but thankfully Renathan had caught her early in the morning; they would probably be some of the first ones in the breeding center since it was so early and now that the breeding center had calmed down some. It was certainly a good thing; Renathan really hated being there when there were so many people that he was having to wait for sometimes hours. Though it usually wasn't an issue with Princess; Lotine rooms were not popular, most of the time Renathan was the only one there with his lotine though he had seen someone else one time, if he remembered right. Really, they just weren't all that popular outside of people's gardens it would seem. Renathan wondered how many people collected these; he knew that Jack did, but she had so many of them that he doubted she had any that she was missing.

Perhaps it was not exactly a good idea for Renathan to keep more than Princess; since over-saturating any market with creatures that weren't wanted was sadly not a good idea. However, it was that or let Princess produce lola that would disappear, and that sounded somehow even less good as someone working with a lotine. Renathan would really have to think about that one in the future. Today, though, he was waving around a rainbow fish, and then scooting back as he typically did, with Princess making her walrus-like way across the way on the sidewalk. Renathan always hated this part because he knew that she would be much more comfortable in the water, but they was no waterway to the breeding center that he knew of, so she had to be uncomfortable on the way there. He did try to keep her from having a rough path though, so as not to hurt her.

It was a shame, watching her meander towards him more like a walrus than the really beautiful and delicate water-dances that she could perform in a way that could not be likened to the movements of any other creature. Perhaps it was true when they said that Lotine were scions of water; created for water, though sometimes poetically it seemed like water was made for them instead. Princess, however, had to go about on land to make it to the breeding center so that she could safely have her lolas, and Renathan was really just lucky that it tended to be pretty smooth along the way there, and that she was being less frightened and afraid of him. Her first lola had been had under duress due to not knowing him well, and from what Renathan had been told the produced lola was more than a little sad all the time. It was probably his fault.

Regardless of whether or not that had been his fault entirely, Renathan wanted to make sure that Princess was more comfortable now. He tossed her the fish quietly, and then grabbed another of the magical fishes out as soon as she stopped and kind of 'side eyed' him, which was something she was learning to do on her own to get her own way. Though she didn't seem to overdo it much, perhaps figuring out that if she did than it might not work every single time as it had been doing up to this point. Renathan and the lotine seemed to have a bit of a working theory going with one another, and it worked out for both of them. It didn't take long for the pair to make it to the front of the breeding center; which was good. Renathan was glad that she didn't seem to be scraped up from any rocks or anything.

That was always something that Renathan was quite worried about; after the first month that they had come out here Renathan had found a nasty but thankfully easy to heal scrap on the underside of her belly. It was hardly anything really, but Renathan had been super careful after that to choose a method to get to the breeding center for her that was both quick and relatively free of stones. It wasn't possible to completely eradicate them from the entire trip, but he tried to steer her clear of them whenever possible. Today she didn't seem to be moving in any sort of manner that would tip him off to believing that she was harmed, so he was quite glad when he reached behind him and placed a palm on the door handle and it went to open. Good, that meant that it was past the time in the morning when they were open; that was good!

Renathan always got the lotine to actually go into the breeding center the same way each month, and it always annoyed all of the people that were there trying to do breedings whenever he did it. However, there really shouldn't be anyone here this time of morning anyway, especially not with the breeding center having been much lesspopular now than it previously had been, so he was able to pull open the door and toss the magical fish in where it produced a wet plop when it hit the tile floor. The lotine then barreled through the door pretty quickly, chasing after the magical fish. She really loved those magical fish! The lotine descended upon the magical fish and devoured it, even licking the tiled floor clean when she was done. Renathan came in after her and closed the door behind him politely, and then he turned his attention to the attendant at the front desk.

The lotine was obviously coming up on the time to produce her lola, so Renathan made sure to be incredibly quick with the paperwork. He was quite good at paperwork by this point anyway, since he had done so much breeding over his time living at the labs. The years had been quite good to him when it came time with the breeding center, and of course the attendant was pretty ready to get him back there; it was no secret that the lotine was ready to produce her lola anyway. "Come on, Princess." Renathan finally said, though she of course did not know her name or the command to come; but he DID have a fish in his hand so he was able to get her to follow just based off of that. Renathan got her to the room just in time for her bloom to close up in order to produce lola...
