Warden's Logs of a SSasshirk.
Warden's log. Day of week of month of year. Must have a twenty in it. Don't recall. Today is a cloudy day, kind of quiet in the neighborhood. The locals holing up inside for the wintertime. Those who are mad enough to step outside, that drake hasn't left. I am curious of the ssashirk and what he does in his day though. What a hermit. Doesn't even leave the garden hardly at all. Not that its blamed, theres a lot of humans and ersatz around who are... Not so friendly? There are rules in the city, rules I don't like. I agree with staying away, but he. never. leaves. Heck, even built up a tent on the other side of his plot to be a home. The night owl probably does not like it, but they haven't come toting an eviction notice. Some humans build a lot. I'ma follow him. Need to check up on his dragon-dog thing too. 1

Have to be kind of quiet, the ssashirk is a carnivore. I have passed by to see him eating raw meat. How does he have the funds to afford raw meat. Meat is expensive. I've seen the butcher's prices. Charges through the roof for their stock. There are a lot of carnivore creatures here in the city; I mean how much does it take for the humans to afford their addiction to teeth and claws? Well, there goes that meat. Its hardly the size of the ssashirk's fist. He's awful skinny for a big creature, humanoid? Does walk on two legs... focus Warden. Seems to feed himself before going after his own crop of creatures to feed. I recall him getting himself a puppy in the previous year. I don't like dog-things. This dog is crossed with a dragon some how. Another one of those lab- released things. 2 x.20

That dog thing is a very rambunctious creature. Getting bigger every week. How does that carnivore keep his pet entertained? I never see him going for a walk. Granted I'm not constantly stalking, I mean browsing the gardens to check on people's progress. Oh, there's the lady with the pachee addiction, hi lady. Focus Warden. That pup's shoulder is going to be at my chest soon, and I'm not that short of a mammal. I wonder how big those dog things will get. Hm. I can hear something rattling around as he's feeding the beastly thing. Did he manage to get dry kibbles for the thing? or just dry out meat haunches for him. It. I can't tell. No no, its a him. I've seen that thing trot over to a rather gnarled root ball and do businesses. Yes, definitely a him. He seems busier then normal too. What sort of thing is this guy playnning. 3 x.20

As the day passes, I'm positive this guy is getting prepared for something. He seems to be more in tune with how the dog thing acts, but the dog thing whines a lot when not allowed into the garden. The ssashirk peddles about his garden for most of the day. Watering each of his plants or checking to see if they need water. For some reason. As I'm standing there watching, he holds onto one of the teapots and yanks the tree growing inside right out! How'd he do that wihtout breaking the pot? Huh. Gardeners, never relaly understand how they function. He's not the normal kind I see either, typically up to their eyeballs in garden pets, like pachee or lola or what not. But he only has a few running around, but he appears to have more creatures accompanying outside of the garden instead. How very unusual. 4 x.20

Now whats this. He's got a flat space thats raised up among the plants, but its made of stone and quite clean in comparison. The tree is being placed there and he's got... what the heck, is that a miniature rake and a fork?! He's not doing a normal thing there, digging out the dirt from the root ball. I've gotta shuffle around and try again. Hasn't seen me, but might have smelled me. Don't really know. He's scraping and scraping at the dirt. Its just all falling away. Digging away at the roots and making a right mess. He stops, and brushes the dirt into a tub, where'd that come from? into it. Now this is just plain weird. But now the guy is taking the tree, shaking off what dirt is left... and putting the tree into another tub? I can hear sloshing, is that water? Darn, the dog's got my scent now. 5 x.20

No' I've seen everything. Taking a tree out of a teapot, taking out the dirt and then putting it back in water. Its almost fascinating but I'm supposed to be observing, not fascinating. The ssashirk is taking the tree back out now, and its all wet upon the stone in the middle of the garden. There's more supplies out too... hard to tell from this angle. I half want to just walk in and check out what he's up to. But the drake is now on his knees and that rock is tall enough that it reaches halfway up his torso when he's kneeling. Or he's taller. Whichever. He's blocking now what he's up to, I'll have to get another angle without making much noise. Shhh, I'm hiding. Who's making that noise! Oh, its me again. alright, shuffle shuffl here and there, and there we go. Up in a tree somewhat so I can see down. Ok. Where's he, where's that dog. 6 x.20

So in the time it took me to get myself situated again to keep observing, the ssashirk's gotten more supplies out to work on his tree? I can see some shears... wait. What. Those are murp shears. I've seen them hanging up in the grocer's shop. Would they even work for this sort of thing? There's a fork, and a rake, and a squirt tube of water. He's using the fork like a comb, carefully drawing it through the roots that extend out from the tree. Now what is the use of COMBING your tree roots out like your own hair? Though if I look, that ssashirk's got hair too. Strange. Its bound up behind his horns as he works, bobbing his head a bit to a tune of his own making. I glance every now and then at the rakai pup on the other side of the fence. He's got some sort of bone in his maw, chewing away. 7 20.20 lv 56 Flare

[Flare's pov] Nosy warden; I can hear him moving around outside of the plot. His nosiness is distracting. I hear Shabh's gnawing stop every time the Warden moves around; he must be keeping an ear out for him. My task is to groom my teapot roots today. I noticed earlier this week that the teapots were beginning to bulge slightly. Tableware does not bulge on its own, not even when swollen with water or drinking liquid. When I pulled out the tree, the roots were thick and wrapped up. This will take much time to break apart and ease back into the teapot. It is savable, still. I believe. The dirt can be reused, possibly. Crannie has some rocks crushed up inside the soil, it almost appears to be clay or bricks. I can't remember if there were any bricks spread around in her garden or what not. The removal does take a long time. 8 x.20

The goal of taking the soil out is to be able to see the entire root ball and spread out the roots to be more... uniform in size. This... this is a twisted mess that surprises me the number of roots inside that teapot without it bursting. Each bonsai will need to be dealt with soon enough. There are no plant shops in the city except for the old human woman and her variety of creatures. I bought seeds from her, sprouts. But not enough gardening equipment. I made do with what I could buy out of the local general shop. Shears to cut, fork to comb, wire to shape, etc. And a multi purpose knife to both cut and shave. It has several items inside, most of which I have not used. The tiny shears work well for tiny sprouts or small branches. Those shears are weaker and cannot cut through the thicker branches or stems. I can hear Shabh's gnawing stop... then resume again. 9 x.20

Its a good thing I am not cutting roots or branches, for a branch snaps beyond the plotline. the fence line. Shabh's gnawing sounds stop again. He gives a bark. Whatever broke the branch hasn't moved since. I can hear Shabh testing the limit of his lead in the ground, sniffing along the edges of the fence. This is his territory as much as it is mine. Another bark. Whatever is there won't be much longer. The fence can be seen through, but beyond the fence is quite dark in some areas. The last of what dirt I could reach without cutting into the roots fall away and I take the bonsai tree over to swish it around in some water. The water cleans the roots and dislodges any more rock fragments, or just softens up any dirt clods. The combing is a very tedious job, but has to be done if I want it to look the way I wish. 10 +2 levels, +2 loyalty Shabh x.20
