The outside door creaks open as a dark figure enters, bowing their head to avoid snagging horns against the door frame (he could have sworn the place somehow got smaller on the inside than out). In armour, helmet and tabard, the knightly figure glances around inside, deliberates a moment, then places his glaive against the wall beside the door. The place is cramped enough as is, a polearm here would just be asking for trouble (and it wouldn't do to start some so early into arriving). Pale eyes search around until finally he steps forward to the counter and heavily knocks on it to gain the attention of any residence inside. It's dim here (not that that was ever a problem), but worse is the mess of books and scrolls. For all he knows the shopkeep might be sitting above him in a tower of scripture, or dug below into a pile of papers. He has not been in the City long, but already its begun to show just how many colours it really has.
"Hello?" he calls, but its not a shout. More a low, solemn rumble. It doesn't exactly carry, but then the place is quiet enough to make no matter. "I am seeking some tomes." There's an accent to the voice, subtle, but there. He still needs to work on that, but even learning this metropolitan language takes time and practise, and he's hardly had a chance at the latter. Besides, he would not be the first stranger in town to sound different, so there's solace in that.
