A startled whine-like roar cut through the silence of the room as the wiurn finally squeezed itself through. It toppled forward into a wooden china display, rattling the delicate contents within. The displayed dishes threatened to come crashing down, but thankfully did little more than that. Whether by magic or by chance, Xentus wasn't sure. But he certainly was relieved to not need to clean up some mess of ceramic shards, scales, and fur.. Of course, he could've opted to simply flee the scene and let the magic of this place take care of it. But some part of his heart felt it wrong to do so, and a gut feeling told he'd face consequences.
"Ah, careful, Alé", the man warned a little too late, "Are you alright?" The wiurn seemed to sheepishly duck its head down, not wanting to have the spotlight of attention after the blunder. It didn't understand the man's spoken words, but did press a resigned mental apology to its keeper.

Its only reply from the man was a reserved smile. He wasn't angry or upset. That was good. Alerios slowly bumbled its way through the tight quarters, bumping against the other chairs which lined the oblong table as it tried to make it to its keeper's side. Xentus kept a watchful eye on the creature for a moment, assuring that it wouldn't cause too much trouble or damage, then turned his attention back to the swirling liquid in his cup. Was it safe to drink mystery tea in the middle of a magical mansion? It was basically a cointoss. With the extra threat of unseen side effects. With the sensible side of his psyche dulled, the curious and adventurous side was free to be daring. His lips pressed against the ceramic and allowed himself a sip of the strange tea. And it was.. Rather average. The scent was stronger than its flavor, and the flavor was of somethin akin to earl grey. Slightly disappointing.

With a sip and a blink, the illusion was broken. The alluring aroma was just the scent of plain tea. The liquid itself was.. Tepid. Not a fresh brew, perhaps something lingering around for the past few hours. Not that tea even went stale. A slightly disappointed hum escaped the man's throat.. Yet he still went for another sip. A slight refresher, but that was about all. And a telling sign that the devious magics of the mansion worked very well on him still, despite his guard. Good thing there wasn't anything too dangerous about tea. Except for poisoning. A nervous chuckle broke the silence. Well, if he was poisoned, perhaps the antidote was around here somewhere. Like a cliché book setting. Alerios nudged the man gently, seeming concerned for the shift in demeanor. It was sensitive to how he acted. And something was slight amiss, it felt. A reassuring head-pat was all the man offered before the chirp of a bird interrupted.

"Hmm?", a curious hum sounded from the man, attention turning from the wiurn and to the black dove perched on a chair at the end of the table. This creature.. Looked familiar. Birds within the confines of a building were not too common a sight. Birds in this building was something he last saw on his venture with the knight. This probably wasn't the same bird.. Though it could've been. Xentus stood up and tucked his chair in, then walked toward the small avian. With a coo, it fluttered its wings and swooped through the air to land atop the doorframe on the far end of the room. Beckoning for the duo to follow. Not that he wanted to be led astray, but it wasn't like he had a particular lead in the first place. Beckoned by a bird. What was the worst that could happen? Alerios wasn't exactly on board with the idea, if only because it meant squeezing through tight doorways..

The wiurn was resigned to go where ever its keeper requested, despite the potential of discomfort. Being indoors was already testing. Unable to spread its wings, despite the lack of flight behind them, felt so limiting. Its mind mumbled the displeasure it felt as it meandered after the leopard, bulky body bumping into chairs and the table in doing so. Xentus cast a quick glance behind himself to ensure Alerios wasn't about to wreck something, but the creature seemed to move carefully enough. His attention turned back to the dove. The small bird tilted its head at the man, watching as he pushed the door open. And once enough space allowed, it hopped down and fluttered through the opening, resuming its task of leading the duo forward. The next room revealed itself to be an immaculate bedroom. Furnishings within were elegant, themed with golden and white hues. The sconces lit the area with a warm flame, welcoming the leopard in.

With a fluttering flap, the dove perched itself on the bed, settling next to a strange little doll and another origami flower. Intrigued, Xentus wandered over, hands gently tracing the fine carving on the bedpost as he approached. Blue eyes scanned the bedsheets, skirt, and canopy, observing and making note of the design. A little too elaborate for his tastes, but he could appreciate the quality. Now then, what about this doll? And these paper flowers.. He first clutched the yellow doll. Its static smiling face was.. Unnerving. Something a child may like, he supposed. He glanced up to the dove, as if it could answer why it brought him to this 'treasure'. But it was gone. Only a feather left in its place. And he heard no fluttering of wings. Odd, but not the strangest thing, he supposed. Alerios, finally through the narrow doorway, nudged the man's back to signal its arrival.

"What does Alé think of this?", the words were spoken aloud to the wiurn as the man's attention was caught by the beast. The yellow and black dressed doll was presented to the reptile. A gift? A strange gift. A testing mouth reached forward to take the offered object, gently and slowly. A light press of teeth determined that it wasn't food. A ringing confusion sounded from the beast's mind, prompting a chuckle from the man.
"Agreed, it is not the most.. Exciting artifact, hm?", Xentus chuckled as he reached to take the doll back from the wiurn's grasp. Alerios wasn't one to enjoy toys much. Roosting, sleeping, and sunbathing was just about all the creature cared for on a daily basis. This kind of enrichment was lost upon it. Ah, they'd have to get back to something a little more fulfilling soon enough. Perhaps teaching the wiurn something new was on the menu.

A bedroom was not quite the best place to try learning something new, however. Unless it was something like tidying up or being careful, but those weren't exactly the minds of things he had in mind for the wiurn. A chuckle escaped the leopard. They'd need to make his way out of this place soon for what he intended. Just how to do that was always a difficult one. The leopard's quiet mulling was interrupted by a trilling coo. The dove was back? He looked to where his ears pointed him - and there it was, perched on the tall back of a lounge chair. A sprig of lavender was in its beak, which it dropped once it caught the man's attention. Curious. The leopard beckoned for the wiurn to carefully follow behind him as he skirted around a large chest and chairs over to the bird. Alerios wasn't nearly as curious about the bird, but followed diligently.

The grand bedroom was much more forgiving toward the wiurn's bulk, thankfully. While it wasn't the widest or most spacious room it'd ever crawled through, it didn't need to worry about losing strands of fur getting caught on furniture. Xentus quickly peeked over his shoulder to ensure his company was able to traverse just fine, then set his sights back on that black dove. Halfway across the room, he felt it again. The thrum of magic. It wasn't a feeling he felt he'd get used to any time soon. His eyes scanned for whatever might be the source, though he wasn't sure what he ought to be looking for exactly.. The bird decided to help with that, taking flight and fluttering about the room before eventually settling on a bronze and silver tea set on display upon a wall shelf. A questioning coo sounded from the creature, as if asking the man to come closer.

How did such a tiny creature seem so.. Knowing? Follow the black dove. That was an omen or prophesy if he'd ever heard one. With a shake of the head and a dismissive laugh, the leopard excused it as the magic of the mansion. Anything that was odd could be explained by magic, especially in this place. And yet, somehow he still sought for some other answer. 'Magic' just seemed too convenient. Ah, but perhaps it was just that simple after all. Walking over to the suspicious tea set, the soft pulsing seemed to only grow stronger. Tentatively, Xentus reached for the tea pot, lifting it off the shelf for a closer look. It felt mostly empty. No tea inside, that was for certain. A gentle shake caused a clang and clatter from within. The man turned to his wiurn companion to show off his find. Alerios was mildly interested, poking his nose at the offered object.

Hushed whispers of curiosity stemmed from their mental connection, wondering what this thing was and why the keeper was showing it off. Neither trains of thought were quelled when the man lifted the lid up to reveal the gently glowing crystal within. As far as the wiurn was concerned, there was a rock in the pot. But, the keeper seemed to be rather proud about it for some reason. Alerios sniffed at the opening and snorted, finding no answer about it. {What is?}, the wiurn questioned in its mix of thoughts. A clawed hand reached in to pull out the magic artifact, spinning it between padded fingers.
[A source of magic. Like Kyrio], the leopard replied, marveling at having found yet another one of these things. Alerios, on the other hand, seemed slightly appalled by the thought. Kyrio was basically like another Nazura, and it did not get along with either of its roost-mates.

Seeing that he found another one of these crystals, he assumed the mansion would start to pull some of its mind tricks yet again.. Not that he wanted to hold his breath waiting for something to happen. Perhaps this crystal was controlling that bird.. Thinking of which. The mammalian looked up and scanned about for that black dove. The silence of the room was no help, and it wasn't on that wall shelf either. But there was a feather in its place. Was it only an illusion? He couldn't make any better reason or excuse for it. An illusion it was. A helpful one, at that.
"This one appreciates the gifts, dear dove. But.. Perhaps it might lead to a means out of this place?", he asked aloud with a slightly hopeful tone. There was no harm in asking, he supposed. No immediate answer came, but that was hardly a disappointment. The leopard sighed and looked to his companion, giving the wiurn a shrug. He tried.
