REPEATING THE SEPTEMBER 2019 QUEST Nimbus Male lv18, Loyalty 18 The last thing that Ridelys actually wanted to do was press the big shiny red button. She has more willpower then that. Until some crazy old hermitess that wasn't a goat somehow walks into the scene, presses the button after saying something faintly foreign and walks away like nothing else happened today. Next thing she knew, there was the crispness of fall again. Had the button really turned back time? thank goodness it was only one button. Why'd she buy two... But for some reason, that panite...goat? Sheep? Old thing? creature looked familiar. "I'VE BEEN EXPECTING YOU DEARIE. GOING TO FIND MY CRYSTAL CLUSTER FOR ME?" The more humanoid then ave gave her an awkward half nod. The goat claps her hooves together. "O THANK YOU. GRANNY WILL MAKE YOUR WHILE, I PROMISE. ITS THE GIANT O ALL NYSSA, REMEMBER THAT. IN THE ABANDONED GARDENS. THINK YOU CAN DO IT?" Must have gone back in time, because when she opened her kennel up, Nimbus was waiting patiently? for her? 1

Her memory of this month was all allergies. But it wasn't affecting her now. How peculiar. Perhaps an effect of the button? Thank goodness there was a tab attached to the other one, for some reason or another. Must be blocking its reaction to a battery. Wait... what's a battery? Oh, right. The things that made the radio work. But why would the radio not work if the battery was blocked? Not really something to worry about. Clever looking bird eyes blink as the izer tilts his head to one side, working to figure out what his person was thinking. She had these times of super deep thought where he just couldn't think of figuring her out. "Going out. Are you coming?" she asks the izer. He squawks in response, working to catch the air as he flutters up to rest on her shoulder. Nimbus seemed to be reaching his prime... 2

"Do you remember going to the gardens at all this month?" she asked the bird as they locked the kennel door behind her. Nimbus trilled with a confused tone. No? Three peep like noises as he tilted his head around to look right at her. Without a ribbon, at least thats what the big owl told him, he couldn't say on his mind. But what birds had on their mind wasn't much some days. And Ridelys knew that herself, but she hadn't put a ribbon on the izer. Was she even wearing the ribbons from that month? The calendar posted next to the questing board conspiculously mentioned it was the harvest month of last year... This seemed seriously strange. Especially when she'd been in the dead of winter and now in the life of fall just turning to harvest. The izer slowly turned himself around on her shoulder so he could see where they were going today. 3

The gardens weren't that difficult to locate, especially since... she had one? Maybe? With the migratory properties of how people could and did come and go from the city, having an abandoned garden plot didn't sound too farfetched. Allergies made her practically useless that month. It was... seeking a crystal cluster off a giant old nyssa. Why even did a nyssa want a crystal. She had nyssa, at least. Giant walking trees, right? Why... don't think too hard on it. Just gets one into trouble. She's get in, get the crystal and get out. There was no idea when or how the button may or may not wear off or out and suddenly throw her back into regular esistence. The day was raining. It felt good on her warm skin, even if she'd regret later on not bringing a coat. Squaaawlk. Why were they going without a coat into the rain. Nimbus grumped a bit, fluffing his feathers. 4

"You won't melt, silly bird." Ridelys told him when she felt the fluffing of feathers next to her head. The sideways look of 'yes I will' nearly piercing from beside. "Your breed loves the rain. The storms, the winds." Nimbus made an unsettled side-agreement noise. Maybe, but he didn't like getting WET. He wasn't a duck-izer. Ridelys wondered if the izer had ducklike feathers with some breeds. She'd not seen any real interesting looking ones show up in the papers over 'show off your new custom' column. However she did specifically recall someone showing off a gallor with an enormous beak. Looked like the splice of a waterbird and a cat. very unusual, but probably exactly what they wanted. Granted, hadn't the last thing she'd seen in the paper came with the second? attempt to have a dragon instead of the gallor? Truly a chimeralike creature. The garden doors swung open before her, practically inviting. 5 level up nimbus

Somewhere beyond sight, hidden in the garden's mysterious surroundings, a large thump could be heard. Was that a giant step? That was a huge booming kind of noise and slight shake, so whatever it was, it was BIG.

The biggest creature that Ridelys ever encountered would have to be that snakeskinned wiurn she trained up for someone; What was his name... oh yes. Crotalus. Hard to forget such a creature; it was an experience to work with a wiurn, especially since... she had one and he was too acidic to handle. He caught his own food, had a water source all to himself and didn't interact with anyone or anything. Although she once or twice felt his eyes on her back as she handled everything else BUT him. The thump that came from beyond the gate as she stepped inside gave her pause. This sounded big as or bigger then Crotalus. What did the grandma goat thing say? Grandfather of all nyssa? So bigger then a normal one, and old nyssa were tree sized. BIG. She winced with Nimbus' digging his claws into her shoulder, not quite a reassuring feeling to have claws in your shoulder haunch. 6

"Calm down." She trilled through the corner of her mouth to the izer, patting his feet with her hand. A concerned somewhat scared sounding squawk came from the izer. He wasn't stupid enough to fly away straight into danger. He'd essentially taught himself how to fly with trial and error. Ok... maybe fly wasn't the right term. Flutter? Glide? Yes, he could glide from a to b. But gaining distance and height he'd not tried yet. The kennel had a ceiling after all. Ceilings were bad to fly with. "Calm down, its not even near us." But in order to find the crystal cluster once more, she would need to encounter the beast of question. But it IS nearby! Nimbus shuffled himself with unease. He didn't like this. Not at all. However his human, his precious human who smelled like a flame and wood, had a bad habit of just walking right into trouble. The big owl said so. 7

Deep breath in, hold a moment, and slowly exhale out. Repeat. Deep breath in... hold it... slowly exhale out. Right. Tiem to retrieve a crystal. Time wouldn't be on her side this time, potentially. Or... no no too many ideas running through her head at once. Focus on the stast at hand. Keeping a close eye out for giant tree feet tracks (she owned nyssa, they made BIG tracks), Ridelys proceeded into the garden. Weeds infested the ground, fighting for space with the grasses that grew wild. The dying of summer eventually into fall would send everything into seed shortly, if not already. The vines and bushes overgrown and skeletal if looked at in the right area. Just green on the outside. Vines hung from the trees, obscruing the sun further. But these plants seemed to be still able to grow in the limited sunlight. A branch snapped, and Nimbus squawked loudly. Ssssh! 8

The drake izer hissed at the branch snapping. Be quiet! But the sideways stare of his human told the izer he should probably shut up. Who knew, it was just eye contact. But when her eye caught the sliver of sunlight streaming through, the pupil became a slit, and that kind of unnerved Nimbus a bit. Yes, beign quiet was the right idea. That shoulder would be sporting some claw marks for a while... the skin wasn't t hat tough over the particular area. Itchy from slight raised pinfeathers? Yes. Scales? Not yet. Not like Ridelys chose to wear sleeveless anything. However when swapping your tunic for another to launder... be careful on which way you let the pinfeathers lift up. It hurts. She crept into the garden further. Looking. Listening. Seeking. Another branch snapped nearby, and the two froze. Up ahead... something big moved across their path. It was ...big. 9

It turned. Very very slowly. For some reason the massive lower jaw meeting the main head looked very reptilian for some reason or another. Angled itself to look right at her. Or over her. It just waited there. She waited too. Who would make the first move. Ridelys wasn't afraid of a giant tree. Hell, she grew up in the northern forests. Trees were massive out there. Bigger then some giant walking tree monster. The heat arose up on her back, gradually warming up. Not to the point of showing but there. The creature seemed to be waiting. If there was nothing wanted by the stranger, it would leave. "You have something I want. A crystal cluster. Shiny thing. Yes?" she tried to ask it. A pause as it... thought. The old one didn't realize immediately taht this hot-head spoke forest word. It didn't move. "It is not yours, I want it." 10 lv up nimbus
