The room opened up into a large room with a single table in the middle. The ceiling was decorated with thousands of twinkling stars. Was it projecting the real stars, or simply a magic effect? They couldn't really tell, since none of the stars around here looked familiar to them. If it was looking into the stars, then it was looking into ones from a distant land, which they would totally believe was possible.
Phosphor ran up to the table and put her paws up on it. In her short life, she had learned that tables usually had food on them. This one didn't however. She was quickly bored of that and started to sniff around again. The beauty of the twinkling stars above was totally lost on her. She was much more interested in the dust bunnies on the floor of the spacious room. Silver watched her out of the corner of their eye as they considered the nature of the stars above.

Phosphor wandered around the entire room, but she didn't find anything worth playing with. She hopped back over to Silver and headbutted them in the leg. She wanted to be pet. They squatted down and scratched her head, though their eyes were still fixed on the ceiling. She grabbed their gloves in her mouth and tried to pull them off, which finally snapped them out of them.
"Ah, right," they said. They shook their head as they often did when they were trying to straighten their thoughts out. It was a mystery as to why they were so fixated on the stars above. There was just something about them that felt... was it familiar? They couldn't be sure, but they also couldn't stand there staring all day. In fact, how long had they already been there? They weren't sure, and that thought made them nervous.
"Okay Phosphor, where should we go next, do you think?"

They waited for a moment to see if Phosphor was going to lead the way again, but she didn't. There was only one door in this room, so they made the decision for her. "Let's go," they said, which caused her to line up behind them as they headed through another door.
The room was filled from top to bottom with more strange crystals like the one outside in the garden. They grew from the ceiling and floor, jutting out at odd angled. Silver was cautious as they moved forward, and they avoided making contact with any. Phosphor, on the other hand, ran right up to one and licked it.
"Ah! No, be careful!" Silver shouted a little louder than they expected. Phosphor jumped with surprise. "Oh, ah, sorry, look, just come here okay?" Phosphor did as she was asked, even though she was started, she trusted them. They lifted her up and tucked her under their elbow so they could carry her through the room.

The crystals were colorful and mesmerizing, but they couldn't spend even more time standing around staring at pretty stuff. In fact, they didn't feel like they wanted to stay here at all. The crystals were beautiful, sure, but they could be dangerous. They hopped across the room awkwardly, so that they didn't step on any crystals jutting out from the floor.
"Oh look, the way out," they said. "Good news, Phosphor!" They cheered, rubbing her head. She wagged her tail, but mostly she wanted to get back down so she could explore.
They moved slowly through a doorway encrusted in the glowing stones. It led to a long hallway that seemed to twist around itself as it continued on further than they could see. They frowned, not sure if they should continue forward or try to head back. When they turned around tentatively, they realized that they couldn't see the path they originally took. They had no choice but to go into he hallway.

The Firefly Festival was a special time in Silver's history, though it was doubtful whether or not they could remember why. The very first time they had visited the Eccentric's Mansion was during the Firefly Festival. They had found a starry cloak back then, and they continued to wear it ever since. Now it was time again to explore the warm summer gardens and sparkling skies of the festival. What better creature to bring to the firefly festival than a Faeron. This time it was a particularly colorful Faeron known as Ising. His parents had been a mix of bright and pastel colors, and he was a fun mix of both. Silver always adored the chunky stripes on his tail. It was also always nice to bring a Faeron with them, since they had a great knack for coming out of dangerous situations uninjured. That was probably for the best, because they also managed to get themselves into a ton of dangerous situations. 1[124.55; 0.2]

Often, Silver visited the grounds of the mansion and stayed outside for the entire trip. They loved to explore the garden and the forest at the edge of the grounds, leading up to a mysterious well that held many secrets. They had thought at times that they understood the well, but they also often felt like they had no idea what was going on with it. Such was the curse of strong magic, they supposed. Even as a magical being themselves, they hardly understood it.
As soon as they stepped through the gate, they realized how bright the stars in the sky were. It was like the world was sparkling with light even though it was night time. Wait... was it night time when they walked in? They suddenly couldn't remember. They shifted uncomfortably and wondered what the magic was doing to them. If not for the twitching striped tail of their Faeron companion, they might have lost touch with reality.

Ising was staring at the door with a sense of wonder in his bright pink eyes. Silver smiled softly, and silently agreed to show him inside. While they normally spent a lot of time outside, they couldn't blame Ising for wanting to go into the mansion. It loomed over everything else and made its presence impossible to ignore. They supposed that it didn't matter what they did, they were just here to explore and show Ising around, after all.
Silver had been carrying Ising on their shoulder all the way there, as they often did with Faeron. They reached up and rubbed under his chin with an outstretched finger. He was a pretty little thing, they thought. It was giving them some ideas about what they could do after they left. For now, though, they tried to focus on the task at hand. Explore the mansion. Bond with Ising. Easy.

Just as Silver took a tentative step toward the first stair, a glowing bug flitted past them. Ising dove off of their shoulder and immediately chased after the bug. Before he could catch it, it disappeared into thin air. Ising skidded to a hault in thin air and squeaked in disappointment.
"Yea, they'll do that," Silver said with amusement in their voice. They had long since gotten used to the weird things that happened around here. Hopefully Ising wouldn't be too bummed. If Silver recalled correctly, there were plenty of bugs to be found around this time.
"Come now, I don't want you to get lost," Silver said. They walked over to Ising and scooped him out of the air. They pulled him close into their chest so that he wouldn't fly away again. Ising looked annoyed, but ultimately he liked being carried and quickly settled back down into their hands, wrapping his long tail around their wrist.

"Welcome to... whatever this place is," Silver said as they approached the front door. It was always intimidating, standing there before the door. It was tough to convince themselves to go inside. They took a moment to settle their buzzing mind before using a free hand to push the door open. Ising, still wrapped around the other hand, flinched as the door creaked open.
"It'll be alright," they said. They rubbed Ising along his back between his wings. They wondered if their nerves were influencing him. They hoped not. They didn't want him to be too spooked. This was supposed to be fun! Now they just had to remember that for themselves, too. It's supposed to be fun. Right.
With that thought in mind, they finally felt okay to take another step forward, into the foyer of the mansion. The door snapped shut behind them, causing them to jump a bit and squeeze down on Ising.

"Yah!" The voice that called out did not belong to Silver, and they were reasonably sure that it didn't belong to Ising, either. They quickly unclasped the Faeron and looked around the room in a panic. They had seen and heard many strange things in this place, but that voice... that muffled voice sounded eerily familiar. It couldn't be the mansion playing tricks on them, could it? Just as they were about to run back out of the heavy doors, something popped out of their bag. It was a... glove? No wait, it was a hand. A hand reached out of the bag and it was quickly followed by the rest of the being. First a pale arm, then some black ears, and... "Sanguis?" Silver said in true disbelief. "What are you doing there... here? What are you doing, you could have gotten hurt!" Silver's voice was squeaky and panicked, as they still hadn't gotten over the initial shock of the slamming door yet. 6[125.15; 5.2]

Ising shook their head and dived into the hole in the bag left by Sanguis. They would really rather not be part of all this grabbing and slamming, and they could smell treats in there. Silver either didn't notice or didn't mind, because they ignored it to focus on the Harachiu that had stowed away.
"Fine, fine," Sanguis said, shaking his head and putting his hand out to encourage Silver to stop fussing.
"This is... crazy! You can't just hide in my bag and. Show up. In a place like this! It's not. Safe." Silver was clearly struggling to get words out with how frustrated they were.
"Shut up!" Sanguis shouted over the top of them. If they wanted to be nagged, they would have just stayed at home and caused trouble.
Silver gasped, partly out of surprise and partly to catch their breath. They had really been winding themselves up. As much as they hated to admit it, Sanguis' rudeness might actually have helped them.

Silver breathed out slowly and tried to consider what to do next. It seemed pointless to travel all the way back home after coming all the way there. Plus, they had brought small creatures with them to the mansion before, and they were always fine. More or less. Did the mansion not consider small creatures a threat? Was it simply more concerned with what they were doing than their creatures in general?
No. They couldn't spend time trying to figure out the motivations of such a chaotic place. It will only make things worse.
"Alright, you can stay. If you can keep yourself out of trouble," Silver said.
Sanguis considered the options, then gave a stiff nod. He didn't know if he would actually stay out of trouble, as that was a pretty tall order, but he could at the very least pretend like he intended to. He was pleased that Silver relented so quickly.

"Ooh," Sanguis said, immediately becoming distracted from his recent oath. He flickered his wings and jumped to the floor, landing safely but immediately running off into another room after something he had seen.
Silver rolled their eyes. Well, what else did they expect, really? It was shocking how often their days basically started with them chasing a creature around. To anyone else, it would seem absolutely preposterous, but it was common enough now that they hardly thought anything of it.
There was a shiny blue moth floating throughout the dusty foyer into another room, and Sanguis was going to catch it. He flickered his wings, pulling himself off the ground for just a moment before falling back down again. Nobody had ever taught him to properly fly, and he was too damn stubborn to learn now. He grumbled, but he was undeterred. He went up to a nearby curtain and started climbing his way up, using his wings to push himself along.
