Renathan waited until the tiny avian finished her seed snack before he held up his hand yet again, showing the pinky and thumb together for the command. Auburn, true to the feeling across the link, seemed to get it better now. She bobbed her head cutely, not absolutely perfectly as he had imagined, but it was still adorable. Renathan gave her a piece of seed after removing the hand signal so that she would stop bobbing her head 'yes'. Renathan was pleased with this so far! As soon as she was finished with the seed, Renathan touched his pinky and thumb together for the command again. Auburn began bobbing her head again, and Renathan was not slow in giving her lots of praise and another seed for her trouble. Renathan hoped that since she was getting this quite well that she would also get the 'no' shake here in a little while as quickly. Renathan continued practicing with her, trying to trick her with other hand signals. Auburn seemed to be getting it quite well!
Renathan hoped that the small avian would manage to pick up the 'no shake' just as easily; even if she had taken a little longer this last time than she typically did with verbal commands. This wasn't a verbal command thing, so she would have to get used to the physical indicator commands. He tended to train his creatures with different commands over all; and with physical indicators mixed in for more sensitive behaviors that he wouldn't want someone else trying to use. Renathan really didn't have any issues up to this point, but one could never be too careful when it came to creatures that could attack anyone with elemental attacks... The idea made him quite concerned, anyway. Renathan was quiet for a moment, allowing Auburn time to finish her last seed before Renathan began with the next idea. He figured that this command would be similar to the one for the yes shake; but not exactly.

The mammalian had decided that the physical command for this behavior was going to be him holding his forefinger and thumb together, instead of pinky and thumb. He wasn't sure how quickly his familiar would be able to figure this one out, since they were fairly similar. Renathan made sure that the hand was the same one, that way she wouldn't have to guess if that was the difference. He wanted it to be entirely the change in fingers that were being held, after all. Renathan held the command in his right hand, thumb to forefinger, and chuckled as the jibiji began to 'yes shake' instead of the correct one. Renathan gently corrected her with his left hand, to begin moving her head as gently as possible side to side instead. Auburn soon was shaking her head from side to side instead, following his lead as per usual. Renathan was pleased, and gave her a small seed.
Auburn took the seed quickly and began removing the shell. Renathan knew that this was only the beginning of training the 'no' shake because he figured that she would continue to get them mixed up, and that was super important to work on. The distinction was a bit small, but he hoped that she would be able to figure it out in due time. Soon enough, the cute creature had managed to finish her seed, and Renathan knew that they had lots of repetition left to start working on. Renathan put his fingers up where she could see them on his right hand, and then touched his forefinger to his thumb. The bird tilted her head slightly, concerned, and then began shaking her head after a moment of tentative appearing gazes. Renathan gave her a seed and lots of praise. He knew that he'd have to switch this up soon, to make sure that she could tell the difference.
As soon as the jibiji managed to eat her seed, Renathan decided that it was a good idea to do at least one more test run with the no-shake instead of moving on directly to going back and forth. Renathan was quiet for a moment, and then held up the command for the no-shake; thumb and forefinger together. The creature was a little less hesitant this time, shaking her head no. Renathan gave her a lot of praise and a single small seed for the trouble. Renathan knew that now they would need to make sure she got the difference between this one and the yes-shake. Renathan waited until the tiny avian was done with her seed before he took a breath, and then held up the yes-shake command instead; pinky to thumb. She started to no shake, and after he felt an unmistakable bit of disappointment that undoubtedly went through the empathic link; she yes shook instead.
Renathan performed the command again, and this time Auburn immediately began doing the 'yes' shake, the correct shake. Renathan gave her a quick seed for her trouble, and then waited for her to finish it before trying some more. Renathan performed the 'no' shake command with his fingers, and she started to nod; but quickly changed to shaking her head 'no' instead. Renathan gave her a seed for the correct movement after he repeated this; to make sure she knew that she wouldn't get a seed for doing both; that she had to commit to one or the other. Renathan then spent the next half hour working between the two, one and then the other, and then doing one twice before switching to the other to mix it up. Each time she performed the correct movement, she was given a seed and lots of praise. Soon enough, she seemed to understand the difference, and was no longer mixing the two up Renathan considered that a success! Soon after, he had to leave though. It seemed that there was something going on at the farm; according to the RoT link he had with one of his creatures, anyway.
 - [END of 'No Shake'] - Auburn and Renathan go Home
Last Edit: Mar 3, 2019 14:42:14 GMT -6 by Renathan
Renathan had finally bit the bullet and administered the potions to Auburn, in an attempt to give her a form that could hopefully take better care of itself in case of a fight. He had been taking a severe risk, and it had paid off, thankfully. Auburn was now an izer; and really didn't look a whole lot different than she used to, mutation wise. She had extra legs, a furry neck, little ears, and huge wings. He was pleased that it didn't turn her into anything too crazy; then again, he really should trust Miss Alura's abilities much more than he did, she was a miracle worker. Renathan makes his way to the usual black walnut park table so that he could train the ex-jibiji some more different things. Now that her legs were much stronger, he was planning on training her how to dodge bites and such even better than before.
 - [START of 'Dash']
Last Edit: Apr 12, 2019 21:01:29 GMT -6 by Renathan
The Izer leapt from Renathan's shoulder where she was sitting, and used her wings to glide down to the tabletop. She had a much easier time now that her wings were built differently. Izers seemed to be built more to glide than the involved power-flapping that jibiji tended to. Still, she was not quite used to it yet, Renathan could tell by her somewhat clumsy landing. He let out a low chuckle, and reached out his hand carefully. The izer leaned her head into Renathan's hand and then twisted her body around, rubbing her sides against Renathan's palm. Renathan could have melted, it was so cute. "Alrighty Auburn, we have training to work on." He said softly. He knew that it was important to train her to get away from attacks. He'd already decided on a command and everything. But how to get her to do it? Renathan petted her for a second more while he thought.
Then, Renathan decided that he would probably need to do about the same thing that he did for the running from danger thing, only with the command word. He figured that she would learn to get away from danger more and more often, at least physical dangers anyway. He quickly collects the small bee-bees he was using for the dodging training from his backpack, and he placed the canister of them into his backpack. Then, he backed up and called out the command. "Lænrii!" He called out. She had heard a command like this one before, but she was very used to differences between commands due to the intricacies in bird calls. She realized that this one was different; but she didn't know what to do for it yet. However, she naturally ran out of the way on the table when Renathan threw a bee-bee at the izer; skidding after the tiny dash of movement.
Renathan waited to throw another bee-bee until he called out the command again. "Lænrii!" Then he threw another bee-bee. He was planning on calling the command and then throwing them until she got quickly, and then he was slowly going to start getting faster without pause, so that she dodges at the same time. This way, the creature would be able to dash out of the way as soon as an opponent gave her an indication of attacking her. Renathan knew that he would not always be around to help her, after all! The izer dodged handily, skittering across the table. Renathan hardly gave her any time to think. "Lænrii!" He called out again, not waiting too long before throwing a bee-bee at her. The jibiji seemed to be keeping up quite well; she was trained to sense danger, after all. He watched her cautiously; noting that she was a lot better at this than she had been before...
Renathan didn't know if it had to do with her new form, or if it had to do with time, but she was quite good at it. Renathan sped up now, calling out the command quickly. "Lænrii!" Quickly, and then he threw the bee-bee with just a second's delay. The izer was now getting fancy with her dashes, racing across the table with no issues, away from the physical attack. Renathan called out the command again, and threw the bee-bee at the exact same time. The izer once again dodged, very quickly. Renathan continued to work on her, with the command and the bee-bees, until he started pre-cluding the commands with a throw just barely, so that she was as fast as possible with the dashes. Then, Renathan started mixing up the old commands that the izer had, to get her used to integrating the command with other commands. After a long while, he was confident with her knowing the dash command, and he allowed them to have a moment to break before going home. They didn't have a lot of time today.
 - [END of 'Dash'] - Note 1/2 a character level, start off here later. / They go home for now.
Last Edit: Mar 30, 2019 22:32:01 GMT -6 by Renathan
Renathan was finally back to training with Auburn after the incident with Jack and her leg... And well, he hadn't been feeling to well. He was planning on trying to get out of his funk so that he could go mining in the future, to help Jack with the fire node she would hopefully be making soon, but he just wasn't really feeling up to much of anything that wasn't absolutely required. However, he thought he'd try to get out of his funk today by trying to teach his izer how to continuously dodge attacks without tiring. He knew that it would be hard work, but it had to be done. The poor creature was so small that she could be hurt super easily. He wanted her to have the best chance possible of surviving if he wasn't directly there to protect her. Renathan put the izer on the table, gently petting her between the wings as he did so. She was so fluffy!
 - [START 'Endurance']
Last Edit: Apr 20, 2019 12:57:13 GMT -6 by Renathan
Endurance had been one of the things that Renathan had figured would be incredibly hard to teach, but up until this time, he had succeeded in teaching it to Shy Guy, and that had not been hard at all. First, it was more of a 'teach them to run for long periods of time' kind of thing, and then a 'dodge, dodge, and keep dodging' thing not long after that. Renathan figured that his izer would be a little harder, because Shy Guy was part of a species well known for running across plains, and izer... Well, izer couldn't usually run at all. Auburn was a special case because she had four legs, so he figured that he could train her the endurance well enough so that she could dash decently. Renathan hated battle training small creatures, but Auburn was much bigger now, in her new form. That meant that she would hopefully take to this well.
Last Edit: Apr 20, 2019 12:41:59 GMT -6 by Renathan
Renathan pulled out the beebees that he had used before to train the creature from his backpack. She was still too small for him to use sticks, that made him feel so uncomfortable! Renathan didn't want to accidentally hurt her. Just because Auburn was now even fluffier didn't mean that her neck was still super skinny... Izer naturally had very thin necks. Renathan backed up, and called out the command to dodge to make sure that Auburn would get it decently enough. Then, he threw a beebee. But this time, whenever he threw it and she began to dash, he quickly began to start throwing the other beebees, as fast as he could. The jibiji naturally leapt out of the way the first two times, as if she already knew they were coming beforehand, and then had a regular dash the third time. The fourth, fifth, and sixth times were much harder. The entire time Renathan was calling out the command for dash.
Last Edit: Apr 20, 2019 12:42:30 GMT -6 by Renathan
As soon as Renathan realized that she was getting tired, he pressed on further. He kept throwing beebees and called out the command for dash each time, until finally she was so tired from the quick burst of energy that she couldn't dodge well around. Renathan stopped after the first beebee fell into her fur, and then he walked over to her and calmed her with a soothing word and a pet. His emotions were practicedly calm, and this calmed her quite well. "Auburn, you did good." She was obviously very tired, so he poured some clean water into a bowl and then quietly gave her a seed for her trouble after she'd gotten a good drink. Renathan knew that she would need a long break after this, before trying that much again, so he sat down, and gingerly picked up as many of the little beebees as he could and placed them back into the container. He wasn't going to find all of them, he knew.

Sept 30, 2020 23:46:58 GMT -6
Morgan: You did a great job. c: I love how his face looks, and that wing aura is probably my favorite thing about him. I've kinda associated constellation-y stuff with Morgan's magic before I even had Morgan onsite, and it really ties them together.
Sept 30, 2020 23:46:37 GMT -6
Xentus: I was afraid I didn't apply his concepts very well actually heh. The mask inspired his markings and his face shape vaguely. If you look closely at his wing arua, there's little constellations
