Whenever the avian goes to draw in breath so that she could make an awful screech, he takes his claw and gently pulls her chin up ever so slightly, so that her chest inadvertently draws in some more air. Whenever she lets out the screech; it comes out loud, haunting, and powerful. Renathan could not believe his ears; if he hadn't done this training with others before he would have been scared out of his witts! Thankfully though, it just made him shiver, and the hair that was braided on his neck stand up a little. Yes, this was excellent. Renathan gives her a good slightly bigger seed, so that she would know she did good; real good. It was one of the darkly roasted ones that she really liked. Renathan watches as the tiny avian eats her snack; and smiles. He was real proud of this one, even though she was so small and fragile compared to some of his other pets!
Training could sometimes be exhausting; it was at this moment that Renathan realizes that he is so tired he could nearly pass out. It wasn't helping that his head had developed a pounding headache, perhaps due to a combination of the illness and of the tiny jibiji being trained to make absolutely awful noises at this moment. He wasn't sure if he was going to be able to finish this training today like he'd hoped; but he really wanted to get finished with it so that they could work on something else tomorrow... He hoped to train at least three behaviors today; to catch them up with his stallion's training, but he was honestly not seeing that happening today now. He watches as the tiny jibiji eats her seed merrily; the cooked ones were easier to eat and didn't require all of the chewing that the smaller seeds required, so she was already nearly completed with the huge seed.
Renathan waits until she finishes her seed as he nurses his head, taking his mask off and pressing his palm against his aching forehead. The pain was just between his eyes, he felt, and it was annoying. He squeezes the bridge of his nose further in front of his eyes, and then he sighs. This just wasn't going to go away today, it seemed. He takes a drink from a water bottle he has brought so that he can stay hydrated; like that may be part of the problem he was experiencing of course. Renathan then looks at Auburn and dreads what he is going to have to do next to complete the training. After this, he tells himself, they will go home so that he could lay down and go to sleep for his headache. Yeah, that might help. He smiles softly at the little jibiji, and prepares to give the command.
"Auburn, Cree." He says reluctantly, still holding the space between his eyes with the cup of his palm. The tiny jibiji does look concerned, but she doesn't seem to understand, of course, she was such a simple creature. She still does get the command though; she breathes in a huge amount of air for such a tiny bird and then absolutely screeches a horrid, staining noise that strained the ears and probably made some weak-willed creatures around really spooky feeling. Renathan was glad that birds had such a wide range of vocal noises; this may save her life someday, and that's all he really hoped for. He had the opportunity in the past to perhaps put her in a tournament for creatures her size, but he hadn't felt quite right for it... She was just so tiny and he was afraid she'd be hurt. Renathan digs around for another of the smaller seeds in his pouch to give to her.
The horrible headache had definitely gotten worse after that last one; he thinks, as he digs around in his pouch. He was beginning to run out of the smaller seeds that were a staple to their training for today anyway; perhaps he goes a little overboard with the food-based training with some of his creatures. Then again, what works, works, simple as that. No point in changing a formula that worked, right? Renathan smiles softly at the creature and then finally finds a small seed for her. He gives it to her and she seems, of course, blissfully and naively happy. He hopes that she remains like this even after they do the harder training in the future; that was going to make it really hard to do, if it broke her spirit! She was such a little delightful creature, and would do basically anything he said from the moment he saw her. She begins gnawing on her seed quickly.
As the jibiji finished her snack, Renathan decided that they were going to be as quick as possible on the rest of this training. He watches her discard her shell, and steels himself for a moment, knowing that he was going to have to cement this behavior with repetition; and that meant more screeching noises that was going to make his headache absolutely unbearable. However, the quicker they finished, the quicker he could get home and go to bed so that he could hopefully heal from this illness. Renathan cycles her through some of her other commands to distract her, for a moment, and then goes back to the one that they were working on right now; "Auburn, Cree!" She made the head-splitting screech again, and he gave her another seed. He continued cycling through the other behaviors and then doing that one over the next thirty minutes, until he just couldn't take it any more. Renathan takes the jibiji home for the day; his head pounding.
Renathan was back two days later; after having gotten a little more healthy after his illness. He was still sniffling a lot; he really wanted to train some more though. He was planning on taking Auburn, his jibiji, out in the morning and maybe Shy Guy, his equillion, out in the evening. One trick a piece, hopefully, in order to help get them ready for the tough training that was to come. It was going to be very difficult; super difficult in fact, but he hoped that they would be quick and easily done. The first training was going to be teaching his beloved jibiji to bow; like he had with his equillion. Though his equillion had a literal use for that trick; the jibiji would be using it entirely for a cutesy show. However, he hoped working further with her would calm her for the next issue; working on her fearfulness, like he had with many of his other creatures.

Renathan had pondered for a while on what exactly he should be doing to properly teach her this skill. There were a lot of different manners to teach this one; and he really did not want to hurt the jibiji for accident. She was a small creature, delicate and frail in every sense of the word and hurting her would be terrible, even if only slightly. He'd have to run over to the Healer's, just to get her healed up! He'd never actually had to go there before, and he really didn't have to want to. He has the little jibiji riding in his braids at the moment; but whenever he gets back to the little walnut wood table he picks her up carefully out of his braids and then he places her on the table. She is awake now, and just a little grumpy; but quickly seems to be less worried about it as she realizes where she was.
The jibiji watches him curiously and quietly; seeming to know by now what was going to be happening. She was still undeniably excited looking; her body fluffy and wings held high. She was going to be getting treats! She always got treats when she did this; as long as she did whatever thing was correct. Renathan sits down on the seat of the black walnut picnic table and then looked down at the tiny avian. How exactly was he going to do this... He thinks for a moment, what he was going to have to do to get her to do the trick properly... After a moment, he leaned forward, and then called out, "Tseetsi!" And then he takes his fingers and pets her head gently, guiding it down to the top of the table to make her bow. Then he happily pets her head and gives her a little seed to eat; hoping that this start would help them get the trick down pat.
Of course, training took quite a while typically, which was fine. Renathan just wanted to get them started, so that they could continue working on this for the next hour or so maybe, tops. She was very clever for a critter of her otherwise simple mentation, so perhaps she would catch on quickly like she typically did. That's what he hoped anyway! Renathan watches her eat her tiny seed, happy with the joy in her bright blue eyes. He goes to pet her on her head, and scritch behind her tiny ears with a single claw as gently as possible as she ate the little seed in her beak. He waits until she is finished with the seed and then gives her a moment to discard the seed shell. Then, he smiles at her sweetly and calls out again; "Auburn, Tseetsi." Then he leans forward carefully and guides her head down even more gently now; to the table. She still wasn't making the action completely herself yet.
The tiny jibiji was not making the motion at all by herself, but once he started guiding her down into the little bow, she bobbed her head down to the table and then popped back up, as he didn't keep his finger on her head. Renathan of course grabbed a small seed for her and offered it to her carefully, she took it in both of her front limbs and raises it to her beak, where she begins gnawing on it to open the seed shell to get to the soft seed within it. After a moment she is able to crack the seed open and get to the tiny seed inside. Renathan watches her eat the seed quickly, and then discard the hard outer shell. Renathan then gently pets the jibiji again and grins softly beneath his mask. Well, they'd just have to keep working on it. "Auburn, Tseetsi!" He calls out quietly, waiting.
The tiny jibiji was quite happy that she was going to keep getting treats today; in her tiny mind of course, so she sat on the table quietly and whenever he had stated the command she started thinking. After he would make that noise; he would make her lower her head to the ground; and then she would get treats! That was good; so maybe if she did that she would be 'doing the good thing' that would get her the treat; as per usual, right? She leaned forward and dropped her head to the table, and then raised up. Was that the right thing? Renathan was of course overjoyed; she just looked so cute whenever she did that; with her big bright wavering eyes and cute poofy tail all up in the air. Well, tail-feathers, rather. He leans out and pets her softly, and then gives her another seed to enjoy.
The jibiji is happy, getting yet another seed for one of her tricks. She did tend to pick up tricks rather quickly, but it required some repetition as Renathan well knew. The tiny jibiji began working on the seed well enough with her beak; worrying the seed case until she was able to get it open so that she could get at the soft seed within. Renathan watches as the tiny cute avian eats her tiny little seed silently. Then, the tiny little creature finished off her seed. Renathan was happy to see her getting this trick; but they needed to keep repeating the trick to make sure that she was going to get it and keep the trick in her head. Renathan calls out again; softly of course to keep from startling her, "Auburn, Tseetsi!" The tiny jibiji wasted no time, bobbing her head down to the black walnut table yet again.
Renathan was happy to see her continuing to pick up the trick; he wasn't sure exactly why she was getting so good at this so fast; it was almost like she was starting to learn more about his general expressions and body language, perhaps not just hinging on the commands themselves? After he made clear what he wanted, she seemed to be getting it very well. But then again, it was possible that she was simply getting used to the whole training regime that they had going on; and she was really motivated by those seeds! Renathan reaches into his pouch to pick out a tiny seed again for her, softly picking it up and handing it to her so that she could take it from between his claws with her small forelimbs. Renathan grins beneath his mask again; this was really his favorite pet, most likely. He hated to admit that he had favorites, though.
Then again, the jibiji was one of his most trained creatures also; he knew her very well. She was just versatile and a quick-learner in general. Renathan is happy to pet her as she begins to gnaw on her seed casing, the casing must have been harder or thicker than usual, as she seemed to be having a little more trouble with it than usual. Renathan watches with mild interest as she finally is able to gnaw the seed open with her beak; and then she gets at the soft seed held within the seed casing. Renathan watched as the tiny creature toss the seed casing away. Renathan decided that it was time to repeat the trick with the tiny jibiji yet again. "Auburn, Tseetsi!" He says this softly again; and waits for a split second. The jibiji quickly forgets about the previous seed shell again and drops her head down to the table yet again.

Darky: I may have looked into things before.. x3

Riku: I love it when you walk into a room like "Oh, ye, hear thine wisdom." <3 It never ceases to amaze me.
Jul 3, 2020 4:10:33 GMT -6
Darky: From what I've looked at things over the years, both sides are actually correct: the elements do need some fleshing out, but they are also very much their own types of style/flavour/effect as well. Still, one doesn't have to compromise the other x3
Jul 3, 2020 2:23:22 GMT -6
Riku: I think Morgan's attempt was less of a "do this now plz?" and more of a "Can we simply acknowledge that this is where we eventually want to go?" -shrug- // Congrats to the agility winners! <3

Riku: For instance, elements can be perceived different than usual. Like Shadow not being evil, or acid being direct and immediate harsh damage rather than a DOT. Things can also get interesting when you mix elements. So imagine a DOT cold move, etc.
Jul 2, 2020 21:33:19 GMT -6
Riku: I also came to the conclusion about every element having the different techs, but like mentioned it would be a massive overhaul so I just didn't mention it. lol I do feel like elements should be more flavor than technique, therefore all having all techs.
Jul 2, 2020 21:30:49 GMT -6
Morgan: I wish I could thumbs-up a cboxpost. /laugh/ If the nerf goes through, they could be made NRS and nerfed down to the other similar moves. But this was just the heart of my first suggestion here, I was hoping to make more as time goes on.
Jul 2, 2020 20:01:13 GMT -6
Haix: We have moves like deluge/harsh gust that cost 7/8 tp, deal 10 fit damage, but lack the NRS modifier that would make them as powerful. Maybe they could be altered slightly to be on a similar level as they have the same cost?
Jul 2, 2020 19:59:20 GMT -6
Morgan: You're right, they're not suited for the only fighting we've ever had on site up to this point.
Jul 2, 2020 19:59:14 GMT -6
Morgan: I agree, but we definitely Do Not Have Those at the moment.
Jul 2, 2020 19:58:55 GMT -6
Aster: Mmm, I dunno if they're not 'good' so much as not really suited for the only type of fighting we have access to, which is one on one. I think the metagame would be pretty different with like, the boss battle type fights Skylark had been workshopping before
Jul 2, 2020 19:58:07 GMT -6
Morgan: I know that curses/poisons are a thing, but there's a reason no one uses those. They aren't technically... Good. (Not with fltnrs10 around. While someone is trying to drain the person's stuff, which doesn't work with hardy anyway, the fltnrs10 kills.)
Jul 2, 2020 19:54:14 GMT -6
Morgan: And if it isn't overpowered for one element to have the tech, then it shouldn't be for others (obvious exception is physical) because the same rules go for all resistances/immunities save for physical. Nothing was meant to be resistant to every element.
Jul 2, 2020 19:51:51 GMT -6
Morgan: Doing it in pieces would be best, because other than spirit's little blurbs (which we've changed other things before for the good of the site) the elements aren't really set in stone with tech choices. Moves were added fairly often before.
Jul 2, 2020 19:49:01 GMT -6
Morgan: I know, but I've been suggesting it for... Quite some time.
Jul 2, 2020 19:47:55 GMT -6
Aster: That would be a pretty big rehaul of the current movepool P:
