Diesel | 1/2Stamina: 3 Strength: 4 Resistance: 3 Dexterity: 3 Mentality: 2 Special Abilities: Danger Sense, Intimidation Moves: Flame Bite, Demoralizing Cackle, Howl, Balefire Renathan was admittedly having a bit of trouble with this vulticus; an adult cave. This particular one didn't really have any natural inclination to 'like him' and as such was confined to a muzzle for now. However, Renathan was convinced that he could get the cave to like him if he spent enough time with him. So Renathan took out early that morning with a bound Diesel to do a quest while 'getting to know each-other'. This was not going over well so far, with the creature never lowering his hackles, and keeping his tail bottle-brushed up. The mammalian is having a bit of trouble trying to keep him from pulling when they got to the questing board. Usually early in the morning like this, no one was around yet. It was just Renathan's luck that there were shopkeepers standing in front of it, of all things. Great, Renathan thought, maybe Diesel wasn't the best choice today... But they were already here. Renathan didn't really spend a lot of time 'hanging around' with shopkeepers, but he did tend to remember people when he had spoken with them before. Jolyne was not exactly the most polite person, but Renathan could deal. He keeps one hand firmly holding onto the leash that he kept Diesel from being too rough with and he waves with the other, meant to be quick. He planned to come back later when she wasn't around the quest board, since he didn't really want to get Diesel around people too much at the moment. It would be a feat just to go past them with him right now. However, the person from the Hunter's Lodge was waving him over, and of course Jolyne was giving him the stink eye. He wanted to give himself the stink eye right now, mostly because he knew that it would be insulting NOT to go over there, but also, Diesel was probably going to show his butt, so to speak.

Renathan was pretty used to dealing with Diesel. He had poor vision but a halfway decent sense of smell (much like a silverfang, now that Renathan thought about it) and due to it he tended to get used to things when he was around the same areas every day when being taken out to 'do his thing'. The mammalian was slowly trying to get him used to going out closer and closer to the park so that he could eventually be trained, and today Renathan was going to try to hit two birds with one stone by picking up a quest from the board... This was an unexpected complicated. Renathan knew that people tended to be really judgmental when a creature was in training and not quite 'socialized' yet, as if someone wasn't working to get them socialized... Yuck, things were difficult to deal with when it came to others and the judgmental mentality that they had regardless. Renathan comes over anyway, holding Diesel a lot closer, in both hands now so that he could hopefully salvage this situation. "Need any help?" He asked, expression hidden behind the mask.

Renathan had guessed correctly, it would seem. The pair of shopkeepers were dealing with someone that was apparently leaving tokens of affection (at that the same tokens of affection?) to both of them while they weren't looking. It seemed that there were several levels of reaction going on here; one with more disgust and the other perhaps with more curiosity but also more annoyance. Renathan wondered if this had anything to do with the Labs City's 'love festival thing'... Vakrah or whatever? His homeland didn't really have something like this, but he had lived in the Labs City long enough now to be at least somewhat familiar with it. Immediately he blanched- should he have gotten Jack something? It was probably good that his mask didn't show off his face. Diesel was sniffing the air, and pulling to sniff at the shopkeepers further, but Renathan would not let him move any further. It took a lot of Renathan's strength to hold him back.

If Diesel really wanted to, he could probably completely pull away from Renathan. However, he at the very least would not be able to bite anyone, since he did have a muzzle. For now, it seemed like Diesel wasn't too alarmed, but he did seem to keep himself just on the edge. Renathan was practically holding his breath over it, but he was also listening to the problem at hand. So his quest this month was going to be to try to figure out who was leaving these misguided gifts. Renathan wasn't sure how common it was to leave gifts this time of year, but these two folks didn't seem too happy about it so he was going to go ahead and assume that. Apparently he needed to stake out and figure out who was doing this kind of shenanigans and... Turn them in maybe? Renathan glanced down at Diesel worriedly- but he DID have a good nose... "Have either of you two been to your shops this morning?" Might as well get right on it.

Renathan was glad to hear that neither of the two had. It was probably best to go stake out and see if they couldn't catch the person before it was time for the shops to open in 'about an hour' as he was told. The Questing Inquisitor was closer, so the russet mammalian chose that particular place instead of the other one. No need to waste some of that hour on a trip that may or may not be super difficult touting a big ole cave vulticus adult that looked more than a little evil on the way there. It wasn't long before long-legged Renathan was standing in front of the shop itself, trying to figure out where they were going to hide to catch this individual. There had to be somewhere to hide around here! With the big cave vulticus, that was going to be very difficult. Especially since Diesel (now more calm) was still being a little difficult.

It finally occurred to Renathan that while trying to hide with a gigantic dog-wolf thing was going to be a nightmare and very conspicuous, it was probably pretty normal for people to bring their pets out for an early morning play session out in the big yard beside the questing center. Now that he recalled, he'd seen several people do so previously before, usually not this early but hey, the earlier the better, right? Renathan figured that this was as good an idea as any, and figured that it probably wouldn't startle whoever was doing this for Renathan to be playing with Diesel not too far away.
The hard part was going to be getting Diesel to play with him at all! Diesel wasn't really interested in that kind of thing right now, seeing as he still didn't really like the russet mammalian very much. Plus, big creatures were dangerous when they were used to you feeding them...

You have rolled a Success! Your QP will be added to the bank, and your prizes will be sent to you shortly. You may continue roleplaying if you wish (take the following info into consideration when continuing roleplaying ;3).
------------------
After all that hard work (including whatever you did afterward) you are given your first glimpse of whoever has been leaving those horrendous notes...
A young boy wearing a sweater and shorts was holding a little box of candies and a card when he was glimpsed sneaking suspiciously close to the building, and then when he was spotted he tried to run away! After running directly into Jolyne, he turns around, looking sheepish. A tongue lashing by Odoshi later, and the boy was trying to defend himself- "I am not trying to uh, trying to be weird or anything!" He finally shouts, the poor thing couldn't be any older than ten. "I just want to open a candy shop! We were thinking about Selling Vakrah stuff too, but I knew that we needed to uh, advertise!" He looked really sheepish. "I thought y'all would be okay with it, but I was too embarrassed to ask!" He hangs his head in shame.
Who knew that the Vakrah Incident was a misunderstanding all along? The tiny entrepreneur was let off lightly by the two prickly shop keepers all things considered, and told that he can ask any time he wished (it was better than frustrating everyone at least).
