It takes exactly two seconds after stepping into the shop, to realize that this particular one is on a whole other level. In so far he has seen a dusty library, a rough armoury and a small convenience shop, but this one is a style on its own. The knight stands in the doorway for a moment, head craned back to take in everything on ground level as well as the above (they even have a skylight here. If there's one shop in town the gentry are sure to flock, he gets a distinct impression it would be this one). In comparison, even him, with the well-maintained knightly attire, seems under-dressed for the scene (which is good). Awkwardly the knight places the glaive to stand against the wall next to the door, seeming to almost consider the propriety of it, before committing to it and walking deeper in.
"Good day?" he calls, not loudly, but the acoustics of the open double-floor plan make it ring louder than he's perhaps ever sounded. Eyes dart around for the shopkeeper, briefly stopping on some attires here and there, before focusing back on the task. Any other time this place could be quite useful for specific needs, but not today.

The shopkeep was bent over, working on a very beautiful dress whenever the customer came in. She could hear them, of course, but she had been so 'in the zone' on the dress that she didn't look up and truly think about it until they called out. "Oh yes dearie, good day to you!" Look at that armor! Must be a military man. "What can I get for you today?" She said, descending the steps with grace after she arose from her workstation.

When the shopkeeper makes their presence known, he gives the customary bow of courtesy. After all, if the blacksmith can be a knight, the seamstress might be a lady in these parts. Stranger things were known to happen. Straightening, he approaches, bringing up a folded paper slip, "I am here on behest of my lord. They require materials and tools for cloth-making, their resident tailor manages to misplace theirs recently." For once the paper slip is something he can hand to the shopkeeper, for it is written in Common. A very careful, precise handwriting of Common, in fact (he made sure to have it look pristine, and not at all the rough print of some soldier).
"It is mostly the simple things - pins, needles, scissors, threads, and such. And perhaps if you had recommendations for good cloth-spinners to source material from here in the City." As tempting as it would have been to simply order in any attire he needed from the Loom, it was a popular shop and word got around about popular styles. A mix-match of various tailors would be more difficult to trace, however, especially obscure ones.

The lady grins and stands at the foot of the steps now. "The equipment is kept on the first floor, on the right side over here." She said, her voice as light and level as ever. She moves over to the stands in question where all of the tools and equipment that they had could be found. " Here are needles, and threads, everything your tailor could possibly need, I assure you." She smiled. "Would you like any recommendations?"

"Ah, I see," he pulls the slip back, somewhat surprised, but not overly. With the other shopkeepers he had to take care not to show the writing (for it wasn't exactly Common half the time) and while the note now could be shown without concern, this is a lady of refinement. A seamstress, granted, but refined none the less - if there was to be a servant here to do the lifting, it would have to be the knight. His gaze moves across the items as if one to see them for the first time, unsure which is which (he knew most of them, even if tailoring wasn't part of his skill sets). One after another he picks up the required items, pausing in between them from time to time to make sure it is the right one.
When all is said and done, he turns to the lady with the handful of small items, "My lord had a specific requirement. If, however, they find anything missing, I assure you they will send for more. These will do for now." He moves over to the counter to place the items down. "There is still the matter of cloth-spinners, if you happen to know any my lord can contact for good material?"

The shopkeeper watched the individual curiously for only a moment, she was too ladylike to watch for much longer than that. She'd never seen this customer before, but of course that wasn't abnormal. She did enjoy a rather nice pool of repeat clientele, but she enjoyed new clients as well. "I spin and sell cloth here as well, though there are other seamstresses in the city as well. I can give you a short list if you'd like, or you can check over my own bolts of material." At this, she prepared to produce a list, writing on a piece of paper she procured from her nearby desk, names written in common in a nice refined script. "Here you are- is there anything more I could procure for you?" She asks, politely. She'd talk price for his wares whenever she made sure he had all he needed.

The knight's brows slightly raise at the mention of bolts being present in the store. Sure enough, when she points them out, he can plainly see a few in the back corner of the shop, but turns to her with a small bow of the head, "You have very fine material here, good lady, but alas, I fear my lord is more looking for cloth with a bit less sheen. Perhaps if they were to hold a ball, then for the costumes. But my lord thanks you for the names all the same." He slips the list of names into a pouch on the belt along with the other note and indicates towards the wares on the table. "For now, these are all my lord requires. How much would this be? And it is credits, yes?"
He doubted the clothes shop would be the one to trade in gems of all places, but it didn't hurt to ask. After all, the knight and his lord were new in town and still had to adapt to the local trade fashions.

She smiled of course as she handed over the list, folded slightly. "I do hope this helps your lord find what he needs." She said. She did specialize in more fancy fabric, but there were plenty folks on that list that sold more common fabrics indeed. "Your total today is-" She had been keeping up with what he picked up, "56 credits sir."

"Undoubtedly, good lady," he agrees with her. In fact it is more than perfect, given the list seems to include quite a few names (the more cloth-spinners to source from, the more tailors he can find. The more tailors, the easier to order in clothes in parts that don't come together until he picks them up). The knight takes out a pouch from the belt, the sound of credits inside evident, as he begins to count out the payment for the goods. Not quite as expensive as some other parts, though he is sure the quality is certainly better - the City was the biggest home for these 'tinkerers' as people called them, with their machines and devices. Producing tools comes easier and faster here than with smiths in other towns and villages.
When the credits are counted, he adds four on top of the pile to an even sixty, explaining "For you kind help, good lady. My lord thanks you for your business and wishes you a good day." He begins to bundle up the items, a package wrap brought from the last shop he had gone to, until everything is a neat little bundle. He picks it up, takes a few steps back, gives the lady a courteous bow and takes his leave, stopping only to retrieve the glaive from the doorway.

The seamstress takes the credits in her hand, of course more than happy to have helped this gentleman, and she waves at him as he goes to leave. "Thank you, sir! I do hope you also have a good day of course! If your lord or yourself need any more assistance in the future do come to me." It was a really pleasant experience all the way around.
