The day had been a crisp one; the grass dead and the leaves piled up in brown decaying piles all about the area. Renathan had slept, curled upon the soft furs of his bed without a care. That had indeed been the purpose of his furs, to ward off the horrid chill that would sometimes beset his cabin-style home. The house was heated quite well by his hearth; but the second floor was always a little more drafty than the first. His home had a new arrival that also made his life a little easier; the newest orbaru cross Flaik. She was the daughter of his Orbaru Leo, and his beloved Tobi, and thus was actually quite amiable; cuddly and warm. The small cervine creature was sitting serenely at the foot of his bed whenever Renathan had awoke to the soft muffled noise of snow falling outside of his cabin. He rubs his closed eyes with the back of a hand before his ears rotate forward towards the window of his room; out towards the softly falling night and the stark fluffy snowflakes. It was indeed quite serene; his jibiji slept silently in her ornate cage on his nightstand, and the creature at the foot of the bed seems quite pleased, sitting with it's legs tucked up under it in almost a feline position. Renathan feels the urge to take the creature out for a walk to the park; not too far away from his jibiji of course. He lifts the almost gryphon-like jibiji from the cage and places her within a pouch he made specifically to hold his familiar while she slept. Then, he stands up, popping his tired joints, and then reaches for the gentle creature before him in order to give her a gentle pat upon her head. "Hello there, Flaik." He scritches behind the wary creature's ears quietly. "Do you want to go for a walk?"

It did not take Renathan long to wrap his clothing around him a bit thicker than normal; a type of crimson shawl lined with fur wrapped around his shoulders; and a matching one for his waist that was then tied around each leg to keep his body warm. He ties the bag around his beck to keep his jibiji warm and close; not that she would have as much an issue as he does in the cold. The creature before him is not used to him well; so whenever he goes to wrap a shawl around her neck she moves away, even though she seems to sense he has no ill intent. He instead keeps the shawl with him, and carefully clips a leash to her collar (one that he had slipped onto her neck carefully as she slept soundly) and leads her ever so gently down the stairs and into the living room. "Meir Gaessh, Flaik." He breathes out softly. He reaches out for a bowl of pink apples and seeds, and empties these into a sack to carry with him. He had figured out beforehand that Flaik tended to prefer these apples above other food sources. He hoped that after today the creature may trust him a little more, so that she would be a little easier to work with. Not that she was particular difficult to begin with, but she was indeed as skittish as her galabex ancestors, and that made her a tad difficult to lead places. Renathan then opens his door and allows Flaik out onto the porch before stepping out with her and closing his door. "Don't worry, Ni Ksshka Flaik. You'll be safe." He breathes this out, scarcely louder than the snowfall. The creature is not looking at him, though. Her amber eyes are trained on the fresh white blanket of powdery snow that had fallen beforehand. She looks nervous, but over all quite delighted! Renathan still watches her with care, just in case she seems overwhelmed.

Flaik does not have the reaction that Renathan had expected her to have; instead of being intimidated by the snow she seems quite invigorated! She makes her way forward, the leash having quite a bit of slack between them as Sabbath moves forward ever so quietly behind her. She steps off of the porch and onto the soft snow; almost miraculous or angelic in the way that she hardly makes an indention in the snow blanket. Even though the paws are stepping on the softest powder of snow, the precipitation is hardly displaced. The creature does seem to be surprised a little that her feet become cold and wet at the sensation of stepping upon the snow; she raises and lowers each leg individually of each other, and turns in a semi-circle as she does. Renathan is hardly able to contain his laughter at this; she looks absolutely preposterous in all honesty. The creature seems to become at least somewhat acquainted with the sensation of the cold snow fairly quickly, and rights herself against it. Beneath her feet, the snow is barely disturbed. Whenever Sabbath finally steps out into the snow off of the porch, however, the snow is clearly moved under his pawstep to reveal a pawprint. The creature is somewhat startled by the crunching of the precipitation as he stepped, but seems to control herself decently well. The night is quiet, as the snow was muffling any of the noises of the city general. The city had seemed a lot less lively lately. Renathan was not sure how to take that, but tonight felt like a new start; with the crisp cold night musk entering his nostrils. He breathes out a sweet-smelling puff of mist against the night air as he takes in the sights and scents. The creature watches this swirl of breath as it dissipates into the air, curling as it rose. It was almost surreal, standing there.

Renathan knew that working with any creature starting out was a slow process. This particular one seemed more interested in him than normal creatures. He knew that to a degree she would be; her mother was designed to be empathetic so it stood to reason that Flaik would also be such perhaps. Sabbath still was surprised when she had followed him up the stairs whenever he had retired for the day to rest, since most of his creatures when they were still wary refused to be around him much. However, Flaik had curled up at the foot of his bed, watching him with bright golden eyes that were quite sunshine-like in glamour. He fell asleep first but woke up an hour later to slip her collar around her neck to make her more easy to take care of. He had planned to take her out today regardless, but the fact that it was snowing was surprising to him; he had not expected such an outcome to the day. It was yet early in the season for that, and the air had felt dry earlier that morning. Sabbath stands still, allowing the creature to step about on the snow while he exhales puffs of mist into the air. He was of course a little sleepy still, but the chilly air was waking him up. He leans up with a hand to brush the accumulating particles of snow from his shoulder where they had been collecting together since he had been still. He knew patience was the key today; for his new creature to have some good associations instead of negative 'scary' ones that may make the creation of her loyalty with him a little less steady. Sabbath waits until she seems to be quite a bit more calm, and then he steps out, leading her to the middle of the yard easily enough. Far more easily than he had any other creature he'd worked with before.

Flaik was easily one of Renathan's favorites already. He tended to like spunky and spirited a lot more than careful, but Flaik was just a pleasure to be around. Calming and sweet, while also having a bit of fire. He could see the fire now; as she suddenly whips free of his grasp on the leash; not too difficult to do since he wasn't holding on too harshly. She begins to romp about the front yard with a kind of easy grace that almost makes Renathan's eyes water. He moves his mask off of his face just slightly to slip his hand under it and wipe his eyes with his palm. After this, he continues to watch the spirited creature play; her little paws tip-toeing across the snow in a way that nearly makes him feel as if she isn't touching the blanket of snow at all. The only indication that the creature was in fact not floating above the earth was the slight stir of snowflakes at her hind feet when she touched down. She did not seem to be interested in running away; instead Flaik was interested in practically dancing about the precipitation. Renathan steps out to her when she calms down, and gently picks up the leash without jerking her. She bends her head down and noses the little piles in the snow; perhaps to get at the tender shoots beneath. Renathan knows that she prefers the apples; but that shoots may be good placements within her diet, none the less. Renathan barely runs his thumb against the cotton of the leash before she is suddenly up and off again; this time a little further out of the yard. It is not preferable to have to hold on to her harshly; he decides, but he may just have to be a little more stern in the future. At least she did not attempt to run off.
