Riku opened the entrance door of the Breeding Center and held it open wide enough for two little Pachee to follow him in. "C'mon, guys...!" he cheered as the little fellers dobbled inside. Quite like a penguin, the one, and the other with a bit of quick curiosity. As soon as they were inside they both chirped a sound of joy. The more awkward female ran off towards one corner of the room, having caught a whiff of something peculiar. The curious male darted towards an adventure of his own, pressing himself up against the wall nearest the opening to the hallway. He slowly peered around the corner weary of dragons that may be guardian a treasure hoard. "Hello, I'm here for a quick breeding..." he said to the receptionist. "Or at least, I hope it's quick." he chuckled to himself as they gestured him down the hall and gave a room number. It was room one hundred forty two...which made him wonder how many rooms there were, or if they simply skipped around with the numbers. Peculiar. "This way, lil rascals..." he cheered again to the two white Pachee. The male leaped into the hallway and hid behind Riku's leg as he walked.

As they reached the door to their room number, Riku opened it just like he did the last one and hoarded the two Pachee inside first. They both ran inside and sunk their tendrils into the extra soft dark green grass that coated the floor. The female toppled over and began to roll in the plush, and the male immediately followed suit. They seemed to enjoy themselves. Riku heard some clutter from down the long hallway as the receptionist came running towards him. He held the door still open to keep an eye on the two as the worker approached. "Did I forget something...?" he asked, with a smile. They held up a clipboard with a few pages of forms, adjusting their glasses and blowing upwards to get the hair out of their face. "Oh my! I completely forgot, you're right." He took the clipboard and grabbed the pen that was attached. ".....Or did you forget? It is your job after all, isn't it?" He made a funny face to convey that he was only teasing. They didn't seem to get that it was a joke and stood there anxiously awaiting the completed forms. Sheesh. They must be new. Of course, Riku hadn't come often enough yet to know otherwise.

"Let's see here, hm....." Riku said under his breath as the receptionist waited. They fidgeted and tapped their foot - not quite impatient, but as if the patience were forcibly killing them. Like they were watching their credits slipping away by the second. Riku was sure they weren't really missing out on anything, and their vibe was only making him uncomfortable. "Well, do you really need my address?" he asked. No reply as the person pushed up their glasses again...so he wrote it down. The two in the room chittered and ran about. Riku hoped they wouldn't tire before they were done with the deed. He wasn't all too familiar with Pachee, so he wasn't sure how much nergy they usual had and for how long. He tried a bit harder to finish up the paperwork and then handed the clipboard back to the person waiting for it. They snatched it out of his hand and sprinted down the way. "Hey, no running in the halls!" he said, looking around and laughing at the imaginary audience. He'd always wanted to say that - but only had the confidence now because he was almost sure no one else would hear it. He hoped, at least.

He stepped fully into the breeding room and closed the door this time behind him. Pulling his satchel off his shoulder, he set it down near the entrance and grabbed the rim of a chair nearby. He positioned it to face the Pachee who were still rolling around in the grass, and he sat down. As he watched them he rubbed his fingers together in his lap. He sat with his knees apart, learning forward with his elbows on his lower thighs. Breathing deeply, he gathered the plan again in his mind. He mentally went through his bad to check off everything he had brought. A pink female berry - or berries - to ensure a female. A longer singular blue berry to ensure a second offspring. He wondered if he had the luck to get a third - and if he did, what gender it would have. From all of his research - which was extensive yet still unfortunately limited - he knew that Pachee extra offspring were twins of one already born. So did that mean it could be male or female? Or perhaps whatever the 'original' offspring would have been before the female berry. Also, could there be two females instead of one of each gender?

He looked over at the female white pachee, who was tugging at the grass with one hand and using the other in the air behind her for balance. He imagined the possibility of accidentally having three female offspring. A natural female. A second female from the two berries. And then a very rare twin female of the first. Wow! He definitely wouldn't complain...but it wasn't his goal. No, he was much more realistic. Two offspring. One male. One female. That was logical with the two berries he had. And he had done something similar before.....however, that wasn't with two of the same color. And..... He pictured the larger, deeper colored round berry. He had bought it in hopes that the rumors would be true - however they were just rumors. The results were not documented or promised anywhere, and if he was wrong.....It'd be a waste of a lot of credits. A down payment of sorts he had made as an investment towards a huge payday. Breeding wasn't exactly something he thought he'd end up 'doing'. He had never done it with any creature before, and yet here he was. He looked over at the male who was trying to pick up a rubber ball.

The male bent over, reached out and grabbed the silicon toy....but it slipped through his fingertips. He bent over again, reaching out, but failed, coming all the way up yet again. A third time and - oh, it was painful to watch. He hadn't been able to learn much about the psychology in breeding lines. Did intelligence pass down to offspring...? No matter, he wasn't likely to keep any of them as companions anyway. They were just fodder, cattle to be herded and bred. Ew. The ignorant and apathetic concept disgusted him.....he was more used to sentient - or at least beastly - creatures. Their freedom was more of a concern to themselves. Yet these simple beings didn't seem to be very aware of their surroundings other than basic stimulus. Food. Warmth. Safety. Sleep. They liked the sun and the grass. They socialized with each other in child-like ways. They ran away when they were scared. And they slept when it was dark outside. There were no 'rights' to be concerned with. They probably didn't even understand what a right was. He looked back over at the girl as she seemed to practice opening and closing the slit on her forehead.

At least she seemed to know how that worked. So...they were stupid, but at least not idiots. Ugh! Again with the apathetic language. This was uncomfortable to him. He was usually very close with the creatures he looked after, but this...this was different. He'd be breeding these creatures just to give away the offspring. Of course he wanted to - and would - look after them while they were under his care. However, soon enough they'd be handed over to proper (hopefully) loving families. They'd have a good start. That's what he knew and promised himself and, to some non-mutual way, them. He felt defensive against 'losing' them. However, he also knew he couldn't and didn't really want to keep all of them either. He'd done the whole animal hoarding thing. It was too much! Selfish and greedy...inconsiderate to the hoard. First of all, the countless hours feeding and grooming.....the amount of attention each creature needs. Even more how much they deserve. Eventually he'd fall out of the rhythm of taking care of them all properly and suddenly there would be knotty hair and mold food containers. Not this time. He could pseudo-hoard in a professional and financially beneficial way.

He reached over to his left and grabbed the bag he had brought. He lifted the front flap and reached inside after unzipping it, pulling out the pink berry first. Then the blue and then the rounder one. Magical, he thought. He wondered what part of it was magical and if it indeed had some sort of magic inside. Could he harness it...? From what he had read about node making, magical berries had nothing to do with the process at all. Perhaps this was their only 'magical' use. The little male smelled a sweet and familiar aroma, perking his head up and following his nose like he had once before. He beckoned closer and saw the female berry in Riku's hand. He hesitantly reached forward, making eye-contact with the human, and grabbed it in both hands, carefully balancing the center-weight of the multiple berries. He lowered it to the floor and crushed one underneath his lower paw. Ahh....sweet and tart. He'd forgot about that part of the flavor. He savored it slowly before moving on to the next mini berry. The girl saw the other pachee moving over to Riku and followed him, not wanting to miss out on anything interesting.

She saw the long blue berry in Riku's other hand as her counterpart carefully took the mini pink ones. She had seen one before, but never tasted it. She darted forward and snatched it, trying not to look Riku in the eye. Quickly she ran it to the other side of the room and threw it onto the ground and jumped on top, causing it to spray a bit as her tendrils crushed and soaked it all up. She felt the rustic, mellow flavor ride up her entire body as she stepped about in a little circle to make sure she got every last drop. It had an unexpected caramel like flavor that left echoes of aftertastes that made her stomp back to Riku looking for more. Alas, there was no more for the little blue girl, her feet still covered in the juices that Riku could see slowly disappearing into its plant skin. He recalled how plant cells have cell walls compared to mammal cell membranes. He wondered if plant creature's skin had a similar difference in chemical physical makeup. However, he wasn't about to cut one open to check....a book. Some book must know the answer to this.

Riku pulled out the third berry he had hidden between his legs while the two gobbled up the first two. It was almost twice the size, and had little speckled spots and lines of a light orange color on it. Their eyes grew wide as they almost seemed to drool at the sight of it.....even though they didn't exactly have mouths. Where did their sounds come from anyway...? He figured there must have been some hollow space in them somewhere that the many coos and calls originated. He used his fingers to split the berry in half as best he could as they both came closer. It was a bit mushy as he did so, and a bit of the deep red juice brushed up against his fingers. He wasn't going to let them 'lick' that off, but he figured what they'd each get would be enough. They took their halves and crushed them under their feet. As they did this, the male swatted his tail on the floor and sent pollen up into the air. Riku could visibly see many large pieces wafting around, and the female opened herself up and took one large bunch of multiple stuck together. Hopefully that was a good one!
