Ashe finished up training his new fish to 'come' to the tapping of his fingers, by going ten times, zipping back and forth across the little pond he'd made, without having to give treats to keep the little thing motivated. It followed him from place to place, sometimes quick enough to give his fingertips a little nibble. He praised the fish verbally, and sometimes with pets because pets would be unlimited in a lifetime, and was overall pleased that the baby seemed to grasp the concept completely.
"Next up-" Ashe started, but was interrupted by the reel on his fishing pole spinning. He'd forgotten all about the pole he'd set up right before getting into this training! Spirits above, this was why he didn't usually train in one of these places, he swore. He caught the line in time before it went too far out and reeled it in. He'd hooked a cute little blue green fish on the end of the line, and he quickly worked to free it, then plopped it in with his tat lung.

The Tat-Lung's first thought was to hide when there was a big splash into its temporary home. It hid as best as it could among the rocks, waiting for the danger to pass - but the danger did not pass and it turned out to be just another fish. It was a cute little fish, too, and little enough that... hey, did Ashe intend for this to be a snack? The tat lung came out of hiding and started to swim closer to the new fish, which swam away in terror. The tat lung chased after it, and soon there was a full fledged hot pursuit going on. Ashe looked on with alarm, wondering if the tat lung would really cannibalize and eat another fish. He reasoned it was highly possible, wild fish did it all the time to each other. Just because the tat lung was intelligent and a pet didn't make it different.
"Ah!" He said loudly, splashing the top of the water to get the tat's attention.

The splash was enough to stop both fish in their tracks out of sudden fear, and they both recovered at the same time, darting in opposite directions to hide from the bigger predator that seemingly just dropped into their pool. It was just Ashe, though, and the tat Lung recovered quicker, seeing its human's face above the water's surface. It came out and swam to the surface, thinking that Ashe must have saved them all. When the other fish came out as well, it took a few moments, long enough for Ashe to have hope that the problem was solved so quickly. But unfortunately, it was not, and the tat lung decided to chase the fish again! Ashe sighed and brought his hand back down on the water, with a loud "AH!" sound, a grunt basically. He hoped the tat lung could hear the grunt even under water. When he splashed again, both fish went and hid once more, but recovered even quicker this time. And were at it in another three minutes.

A regular old fish bumbles in your direction, as well as... what is that? It's... round, and spiky. It's hard not to see it bobbing through the water!

Ashe gave another splash, with a firm "Ah!", and he watched carefully to make sure that when his tat lung came back out, it didn't attack the fish. And when it swam in the general direction, Ashe tapped the water and said it again. The tat wasn't scared of him anymore at this point, and was starting to figure out the human was trying to communicate something. It hesitated while it tried to figure things out, and that was when Ashe noticed the little blue fish. It was coming close enough to him that he could reach out to grab it! What a stroke of luck. Possibly. It might be the mate to the fish he had trapped with the tat lung, come to think of it... Quickly, he scooped it up and, in a wave of water, splashed it into the little pool. Two fish, vs one tat lung, hopefully that would equal the playing field out a little better.
Then he saw the spikey fish floating his way... Shit. This was a bigger guy. He needed treats. Ashe pulled out some bug treats he used for training and scattered some on the surface of the water.

The fish seems uninterested at first, wrapped up in its own little world, until a treat floats far enough to hit it in the face. Oh! Food! It... gulps the bug down, and follows the trail back towards you. Its eyes seem to say ‘got any more, mister?’.

While Ashe was busy playing with his new friend, the tat lung was left alone with the two other fishes. She crept out from her place in the rocks and saw the other two swimming around each other, excited and happy to be together. Suddenly, all the desire to chase the one fish went out of the tat lung and she sat and watched them for a while, before deciding she wanted to play too.
Ashe was encouraged by the fat blob swimming toward him and eating the treats he provided. He hadn't come prepared to bring larger catches home! He supposed he could call for help, he had plenty of pets at his disposal. Right now, though, he wished he had a net. Instead, he trailed more bugs around for the fish to get a good appreciation for his presence, then he got out the next fun thing - a worm, normally used as bait. He held it so half was squirming in the water, the other half was firmly between Ashe's fingers.

The fish thoroughly appreciates being fed! It’s fat enough already, but that doesn’t slow it down - it goes straight for the bottom half of the worm, latching on tight.

Ashe holds onto the worm as best as he can, hoping the little body hangs together long enough to drag the fish through the water a little bit. Like a rope, almost. He guides it toward the little pool he'd made out of rocks to contain his tat lung, and now the two blue fish. A little closer... Maybe, despite the spines, he would be able to lift it up enough to yeet it into the pool. And that it couldn't jump back out once in there... Almost there, he let go of the worm and let the fish finish it up. He produced another worm, though, and dangled it for the fish to hopefully grab. With this one... he'd get it the rest of the way, he was sure.
The Tat-lung was swimming toward the blue fish, wanting to play, but since she had previously been trying to eat one of them, it was safe to say that she was not exactly a welcome playmate. The two of them zipped away, but instead of hiding, just...stayed out of range.

Mmm, yummy! The fish enjoys the worm it’s been offered, and is all too eager to go for the next one. It doesn’t even realise that you’ve been guiding it away until it’s safe and sound inside!
[Congratulations, you have successfully tamed the creature!]

Thank goodness, this fish was either easy going, or really dumb. To be honest, Ashe didn't care which one it was, as long as he was going home with a new pet to take care of in the aquarium! He got the fish close enough to the side of the rocks to toss over the side, then he released the second worm, used both hands to scoop, and push slash threw the fish into the little pool. Ha! Stuck now! It landed with a splash, looking a little alarmed, but Ashe dropped some more bugs into the water and all the fish currently contained swam to the surface and ate together. This included the tat lung, who was still nameless at this point, and the four of them had the pool cleaned out quickly. Since the yellow fish ball was bigger than the others involved, even the tat lung gave it a wide berth. Ashe just hoped it didn't turn aggressive, or that its quills weren't poisonous... He heaved a sigh, and went to rebait his fishing pole, trusting the fish to play nice for a couple minutes.

While the fish swam around and did fishy things, Ashe got the pole that had caught the first blue fish and checked the hook, the weight, the bobber. Everything seemed to still be on pretty tight and secure, so he added some basic bait onto it and grasped the rod firmly in his right hand, his finger settling over the line so it wouldn't go out until needed. He grabbed the butt of the pole with his left, brought the tip of the pole back behind him, and used his left hand for more power and control, launching the lure out over his head. He released his finger so the line could go, and the lure plopped into the water. Satisfied, he flipped the bell and got the line ready to reel back in, for when there was a bite.
He set the pole down, the butt of it between two rocks to hold it, and returned to his fishy friends. He tapped on the surface of the water to get his precious to come to him.

Ashe was finally able to rest and go back to his fish. He settled himself over his little rock pool and looked down at them, watching the blues zipping around this way and that. The Pinball was floating around, looking like he might have eaten too much food and didn't want to move. Was he napping? Or just existing? But Ashe's eyes were searching for, and quickly found, his prize. The little black and green tat lung blended in nicely along the bottom of the pool, and she saw him looking for her and came up to see him. On the way, the Pinball's fin got in her way and she gave it a nip. "AH!" Ashe said, wagging his finger. He didn't want to smack the water when the other fish were so near, so he tried the verbal sound. It seemed to work, because the tat lung shrunk back, as if expecting the hit on the water, and ceased what she was doing. Paused, then continued swimming to Ashe.

The tat lung made it to the surface and Ashe reached a hand in to pat her on the head, stroking her scales. He had no idea if she liked the touches or just put up with it because she was patient and kind, but she stayed there and let him touch her. She rolled over onto her back briefly, and Ashe drew a finger across her belly scales, then she flipped back over and squirmed around, like the cute little baby she was. Ashe chuckled. "You need a name, don't you?" He murmured to her. At this point, he became aware of some sort of creature wandering around. It looked like a little shelled guy with some seaweed floating upward, and it was crawling along the bottom of the pool. When he noticed it, the tat had also noticed, and she started to swim down to investigate. "Ah!" Ashe said by reflex, not sure if it was friendly or not. The tat stopped in her tracks, obviously hearing Ashe's voice even under water.
