The water ripples and glitters, but brings forth no fish but Yidhra. Not that calling her a fish is a good idea...

Yidhra was getting the hang of this now. With that last reaction, Ashe had confirmed her thoughts on the word he kept saying, and knew he meant for her to stay where she was when he said it. So she would! She heard the man say it again and she swished her fins, keeping herself in place. No advancement toward where Ashe was retreating alongside the bank. Ashe walked further than he did last time, and he said that word again to reinforce her actions, or lack thereof. She stayed right where she was, because she knew that was what that word meant! And, sure enough, Ashe came running back to her with praise. She could hear it in his words, but also feel it with the way he said it. She liked that, don't get her wrong, but the treat he offered her was pretty nice as well! She gobbled it up and swam in circles, expressing her excitement as best as a fish could!

Ashe worked with her for ten more minutes, testing her. He walked different distances away, stayed longer and longer away, and she managed to stay in the same spot each time. She moved around, normally in circles, but she stayed right there and didn't try to wander off or come after him. That was the important part! He rewarded her sometimes, but he eventually stopped using food treats as well and started just verbally praising her. She seemed to eat that up just as well as the food.
"You're such a good girl, Yidhra. What else, I gotta think of something to keep that busy mind of your occupied..." He frowned to himself, thinking. He was waiting too long, trying to plan out his years of training this magnificent beast, and Yidhra... wandered off. Ashe hadn't told her to stay this time and she took the opportunity to look around. Ashe scanned the water, looking for her shape, not seeing her at first. And then - there!

She had something in her mouth when he found her. "Yidhra! Don't eat that!" He scolded. It looked like a rock, and Ashe's first thought was that she would swallow it and it would get stuck in her throat and she would choke and die. He felt almost like a parent hovering around their child - was this what that was like? - and he didn't like it! He didn't like worrying, not being able to trust that an animal could take care of itself at least enough to not die.
Yidhra heard his panicked cry, and she paused, mouth still on the little pebble she'd picked up. It had looked tasty, so she'd picked it up, but now that she had it in her mouth, she tasted that it was, in fact, just a rock. But she was too busy paying attention to Ashe to drop it like she otherwise would have. What was he babbling about? She didn't quite understand him.

"Spit that out! Don't eat that!" Ashe said again. He walked out into the water, intending to pry that pebble out of her mouth with his own hands if he had to. "C'mere," He told her, remembering too late that he could just tell her to come to him. She seemed hesitant, no doubt concerned about his serious tone and his splashing around in his haste, but she met him halfway. She swam a circle around his legs, still holding the pebble as if she had a prized treasure. Ashe bent over and reached for her slippery body. She twisted around, startled but not distressed. In her movement, she dropped the pebble finally, and Ashe was forced to halt midway through his reach. He saw her mouth was empty, her air way clear, and he heaved a sigh of relief. Then quickly - "Good girl! Good girl, Yidhra, don't eat things like that, alright? That's not food." She gazed up at him, then glanced around, wondering where the food was.

The pair of them played around in the water some more. Since Ashe was already there, he might as well stay and hang out with the fish. At some point, he might have to actually man his fishing pole, but for now.. He played with her using his hands, making her swim around or over them, trying to grab her fins, or even using his hand to swat some water at her, creating resistance for her to swim through. She seemed to be enjoying the games, but as Ashe ran out of ideas, or became distracted with thoughts of fishing, she also became distracted. And food was always on her mind! She was a growing girl, after all! So she wandered off again, nosing around. Was there was something edible around here, perhaps? She started testing things the only way she knew how - by nibbling on them!
When Ashe caught up with her after checking on the pole, however, he wasn't thrilled! "Yidhra! Don't eat that! No, don't eat that!" He came storming back over.
