While Nerius' house already contained a rather large library, he was of the opinion that one could never have too many books. He'd never been to this particular shop before, which somehow that felt like the case with a lot of his shopping trips lately. Though in this case it might have been from him mistaking for a house in the past, it looked very much like someone's cottage, and he'd missed on the first pass, and had to backtrack.
The sign helped, and as Nerius opened the door, it was obvious he was in the right place, the interior was nearly all bookshelves. He had an idea of what he wanted, but with this many books, it would be much more efficient to have help, than to hunt through the books himself. "Hello?" he called, not too loud, this was (sort of) a library, but hopefully enough to get someone's attention. He wouldn't have been surprised if there was a shopkeeper somewhere between the shelves.

The twins were busying around the counter as they typically did, with one of them filing books away, and one of them going through their books. Whenever the customer came in, the one that was closest (and less busy) doing the books looked up, and raised his hand. "Salutations, how can I assist you today?" He flashed a quick grin as his twin moved past him carrying a stack of books, going out towards the shelves with them.
Sure enough, a shopkeeper (or rather, two) was quick to respond. That wasn't unexpected, most seemed to like to keep a close eye on things, which made sense. The Trader had some unattended baskets, which operated on the honor system, but that was the only thing of that sort that he knew of.
"I'm looking for books related to magic, or mythology," Nerius answered the shopkeeper that spoke to him, besides, the other seemed rather busy. Surprise, surprise, he was after something involving magic. Much of his shopping trips, and activities in general, honestly, involved that. Or plants. Speaking of... "And something on plants, or plant creatures." He wasn't so sure how much had been written on the plant creatures of the Labs, but it was worth asking. Worst case, they simply wouldn't have anything on the subject, or it wouldn't be any more in depth than the pocket guides that were given out by the Labs.
"Related to magic or mythology." He adjusted his glasses. "Yes, both areas are very close to each-other. They will be right in that corner." The twin said. His brother had went off in the opposite direction, actually. "For plants though, that would be two sections over that way." He pointed directly to it. "Let me know if you need any assistance searching!" He said, earnestly.
Nerius listened to the directions, and nodded. "Thank you," he replied, before heading to the corner that had been pointed out first. There were quite a lot of books, of course, which was maybe why the scrolls stuck out to him at first. While not unusual where he was from, Nerius had noticed that they weren't terribly common at the Labs. The red and gold was the first to catch his attention, given the ornate case, and the tag declared it was on the primary gods, and next to it, a scroll on the lesser. Both were interesting, given his unfamiliarity with the local pantheon. Those were set aside, Nerius expected he'd have quite a pile of books by the end of this, and he went back to browsing.
He easily could have missed the next books, the covers were hardly as striking as the scroll cases had been, but the titles caught Nerius' attention. 'Tales from the Corners of the World', it seemed to be a whole series, but he settled on just the ones about wild draconics and the forbidden forest. Those were added to the pile, and he continued looking through the shelves. Another scroll case popped out, this time on meditation. He'd never been particularly interested in what he felt was basically sitting there doing nothing, but he'd heard it could have some application in magic, so it was worth looking, he supposed.
Then, finally, something on magic specifically. He wasn't sure who was doing the documenting, to fit it all into one book it had to be from a limited location. But it was something, and he added to the pile. It was also probably the best he'd find, and so Nerius went over to the section on plants. There was quite a selection, but he decided on one about plant creatures. There were many that could be harvested, and learning more about them could only help. Satisfied with what he'd found, Nerius carried the books and scrolls to the counter, carefully setting them down carefully. "How much will it cost for these?" he asked, expecting to have racked up a decent total with this collection.
The shopkeeper continued what he was doing after making sure that the customer was fine, and his brother busied himself among the shelves, putting the new books away. As soon as the customer was back, the brother not currently too busy looked up from his slight work, and then gave a nod. "I will see..." After a bit of a look, he nodded after doing the math. "Looks like 270 credits for all of these books." He said. Looks like there were others that were avid readers around here, as well!
It was a bit more than he had been planning on spending, but not unreasonable for the amount of books he'd selected, and nowhere near the most he'd spent at one shop. Nerius counted out the coins onto the counter, then gave the shopkeeper space to check it over. "That should be two hundred and seventy." They were mostly larger denomination coins, so it hadn't taken Nerius long to set them out, and likely wouldn't take long to double check.
He was already considering which one to read first, he had quite the selection of new reading material to choose from. The documented magic book was, of course, a contender, but Nerius was actually more intrigued by the book on wild draconics. His homeland had many stories about dragon-like beings, though none lived there now. He'd always been fascinated by them, and still was today, so it wasn't really surprising that book was the one that caught his attention the most.
The credits changed over, and the twin that was working with the customer struck a polite nod to them. "Thank you for your business. Enjoy the books!" He said, waving. Hopefully the customer would find what they wanted to know written there, or at least would come back for more if they didn't.
Twilight-Claw: Thanks for that piece of info Ren! <3 | But would it be allowed for the flavor of the rp if the berry wasn't filling enough for the Lotine?

Renathan: There is no need to double up on a fish and a magical berry (doesn't change the effect of the berry at all) in a lotine breeding.
Jun 1, 2020 6:02:21 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Does anyone know if it is possible to combine both a magical berry and a fish in a Lotine breeding? Or is you can only choose one of them? (right now writing a Lotine breeding)

Riku: I got three pet levels and 15c out of it. <3 And all the necessary posts for my job salary form.

Riku: In mine my crossbreed used foxfire to burn it - but then it used incendiary illusion, which was extra scary because my cross is a plant pet with thick fur. It used the distraction to escape. I’m proud of it, and it’s okay that I won’t finish this month.

Renathan: *But of course, the RNG was not having that. / In Morgan's story, the Nyssa was a real thing, so I wanted to have two different situations for the variety.
May 31, 2020 18:15:27 GMT -6
Renathan: Yeah, the 'finished the story but the RNGods are being a butt' thing is a rather unfortunate situation to be in. I had already decided that in Ren's story, the elderly woman had lied about the nyssa and just wanted someone to talk to*

Riku: That makes sense. I've considered that before. -nod- I hope your non-hxr life is going smoothly.

Haix: Just quitting the job. Don't believe I'll be making the ten posts required per month any time soon. XD
May 31, 2020 16:34:01 GMT -6
Riku: Note to haix, I believe you can post the new application form at the same time as the quitting form. Unless you are simply taking an overall break from the job system.

Fiera Ferella: even AT the gardens yet. XD It sucks when you've finished writing your story and haven't gotten a success, because then its like "well... now what?" XD
May 31, 2020 15:51:47 GMT -6
Fiera Ferella: ive found that when there's a quest that might take longer like this, its a good idea to try and space out the story beats to try and roll a success before i get to the meat of the story. XD Like, by the time i was 5 posts in my character wasn't
