Jack wished she could take a nap, and while she could, she wasn’t going to, at least not right now. There were a few bigger rocks she could sit on when they reached the spot, and she smiled a little bit when she saw the area she had scouted out earlier. No one else was fishing yet, she had probably done more of it than anyone else at this point, which was fine, at least she would have more stuff to trade than most other people. As she set up with the pup next to her, she chewed on her lip as she tried to figure out what she needed to get done. There was much more socializing to do with Cocoa, and she knew she needed to get it done if they were going to do anything in the future. He had to grow and all that, but she wasn’t sure what to expect.

Everything would be fine, she wouldn’t be too terribly bored, at least she hoped she wouldn’t be. Jack sighed a little and cast her line into the water after settling Cocoa down a little bit again. He was still so tired it surprised her, and she wasn’t sure what all she needed to do about things. Sure, he had warmed up, dried off, and taken his medicine, but she wanted to make sure he really wasn’t sick anymore, that would be the best of it all she supposed. No matter what, she wanted to make sure her animals were happy and healthy, and if she couldn’t do that, then what was the point? Chewing on her lip a little, she shrugged and wondered what she was going to do about things for now, it didn’t matter much as long as she fished and attempted to socialize the pup a little, but at the same time she had to figure out a training list for him.

With a small whimper, Cocoa managed to dig his way out of the blanket and ran off toward the river again. Jack managed to stop him and wondered if she should teach him how to swim, it would be for the best when all was said and done, she figured raising her brow. It would work out no matter what and all that, as she figured it would always be alright no matter what. Jack picked him up and put his leash on him again before tying it down to one of the rocks so he couldn’t reach the water. He could still pick up shells and stuff where he was tied down and that would be just fine for her, she didn’t want him to drown, that would be the worst of it she knew. The woman pushed her hair back and tied it behind her head so she wouldn’t have to keep doing that and smiled a little, wondering what she was going to catch here.

Whatever happened, she hoped that he would do alright when it came to training. So far her Houluh were pretty eager to please and she didn’t see Cocoa being any different. That was their structure, however, she knew, and she hoped that she wouldn’t get one too stubborn anytime soon. There were a few new pups in the Kennel, and a brand new one only a few days old so far who stumbled along after Red wherever he went, and the Patronne doted on his little girl at the same time. They both adored each other, and little Ladybird wanted to be just like her dad, which the woman hoped might happen. Right now though, she needed to focus on Cocoa, Morgan wanted to breed him to Cozette when she managed to get him grown, so she really needed to step up her game. There was only so much she could handle right now though, which was the rough part.

Nothing had bitten on her line yet, so maybe this had been a mistake, but that was hard for her to accept at the moment. She frowned a little and glanced over at Cocoa who had accepted his fate to being tied to the rock and was digging around in the sand at this point. Sighing, she reeled in the line and cast it again, hoping to catch something good no matter what happened. All would be well, she knew with a little smile, and the woman pulled on her ponytail a little as she fished, hoping she could find something good after a little while. The pup was having fun digging at least, even though he couldn’t get to the water, so that was good she knew. All she could do was hope they would find some good stuff as time went on, though she wasn’t going to hold her breath on that one.

With everything going the way it was going, she wasn’t sure she would ever catch anything, which was a real shame, she had hoped that things would work out for her no matter what. Apparently that wasn’t how things worked here, however, but that was fine as well. She chewed on her lip a little as she looked at things in the water and wished that something would bite. Of course she could freeze some of it and see if that would work, but that wasn’t worth it right now she didn’t think. Oh well, it didn’t really matter in the long run, but the woman knew that things wouldn’t be alright if she didn’t keep going right now, right? Cocoa was hunting for shells and the like, so she had to keep hunting as well, even though it was, technically, fishing. She chuckled at herself, not knowing where her thoughts were going, but oh well, it was fine.

Cocoa was happy with trying to find things on land for the woman, but he knew there was more out there for him to do right now. Why couldn’t he go swimming? Sure it had been cold, but he had fur and thick skin, that shouldn’t matter to anyone, he figured with a frown on his little puppy face. Oh well, she wouldn’t let him go now anyway, so he might as well enjoy himself, he figured with a low woof. Things would pick up for them no matter what, and Jack hoped that she would catch a few things as well, wondering what exactly was going to happen if they didn’t catch anything. While it would be bad, of course, she didn’t think it would be truly detrimental to her self esteem, just annoy her a little bit, she thought. Jack frowned a little and leaned against a rock, the pup jumped into her lap after that and cuddled up close to her.

Even if they didn’t find anything, everything would work out as long as they got closer to each other, she knew. She couldn’t wait to see what his pups might look like, and she smiled a little as she wondered what else to do at the moment. She wasn’t going to train him, not in this cold, fast water, but at least it was something to think about. He needed at least three things to do his show, and she didn’t know if they would have water in the arena, so she had to figure out three other things, other than swimming, that was. Maybe a good run of the basics would be good for him, she figured with a light smile on her face as she thought about it, hoping that things would work out for them when it came to his show. Maybe they could even get it done tonight? Though she honestly doubted it, but that was fine no matter what as well, everything would be alright in the end of it all, she didn’t need to worry about that.

While everything would work out in the long run, Jack was still a little leery about things going well right now. She knew what she wanted to train him, but he was working out well enough that she thought it was a little suspicious. Maybe she was just being paranoid, but things usually didn’t work this well for her with her animals, there always had to be an odd one in the bunch. Maybe it would be Heathen… It almost had to be, with the name she had given him. Frowning, she wondered if she should change his name, but then thought again, it wouldn’t matter much to him, he didn’t seem to care. Cuddling Cocoa close to her, she leaned her head back against the rock and closed her eyes, tired, more so than usual at this point, and fell asleep. Maybe something would bite while she was asleep, but she doubted it more than usual at this point.

Silence covered the river for a little while as the two of them slept. Nothing was biting, nothing was exploring, it was quiet and utterly serene for a little while. It was nice, and Jack appreciated the rest as well as the pup did, she had done a lot of things lately it seemed, especially when it came to Houluh. She had, what, five grown ones and now was working on a sixth? Jack smiled a little in her sleep and shifted a bit, wondering what she was going to do when she woke up. It didn’t matter much to her right now, but things weren’t exactly going as planned, she hadn’t caught anything good so far today and didn’t think she was going to find anything good, which was a real shame when all was said and done. Jack nuzzled up to the pup and sighed as she slept, hoping she would wake up to find something on her line.

It would all work out in the end she knew, with a smile on her face as she slept, and she hoped that nothing would work out in the end against her. Maybe, if she was lucky, then things would work out for her and she wouldn’t have to worry about it, but that’s what happened when you worried about things at the moment, she knew. Well, she was happy with things right now, and that was all that really mattered she guessed with a smile on her face. Cocoa was doing well, he was getting bigger and bigger and she knew that the show would get him to where he needed to be at the moment. Sure, training him was going to be a pain, but that’s what happened whenever she knew that things needed to be done. She could suffer through it she knew, and she smiled a little as she thought of what all she was going to be training him this time.

At least things were looking up for herself and the pup, she thought as she slept and dreamed about little things in life. Part of it was what the pup would look like when he was fully grown, just like himself of course, but bigger. It was hard to get a chocolate pup wrong, she figured with a little smile on her face. He and Red were close in color but not quite, Cocoa being brown and Red being, well, red. There was a difference though, as much as she wanted to deny it, but she wasn’t color blind or anything, so she couldn’t claim that as they laid there on the sand. Somehow she had slid from the rock and was laying there, cuddling with the pup who was whining a little in his sleep. She didn’t have a hard grip on him though, so it wasn’t like he was hurting or anything.

Cocoa opened his eyes first and looked around him for a little bit, trying to get his bearings. Things were working out fine for awhile, but he didn’t know what was going on. He yipped and tried to run toward the river after wiggling out of her arms, but didn’t get too far due to the leash. Jack yawned and propped herself up on her elbows at that, waking up from the noise he was making, and smiled a little at him. ”Sorry buddy, but you’re stuck for now,” she told him, patting him on the back as she stood up and stretched out her arms and shoulders. She was done with this, if it was up to her they would leave, and it was partly up to her at least, but for now she wanted to get at least one fish before they headed out, so there was that at the same time.

After she stretched a little, she checked the line and saw the bait was gone. Cocoa sat at the end of his leash and watched her as she rebaited the hook and cast it into the river, wondering what was going to happen next. Hopefully things would work out for them, but she wasn’t going to hold her breath on that just yet. It was almost spring, which meant it was almost the rainy season, already clouds formed overhead on the lovely day it was, and there was a brief sprinkling of water from the clouds at the moment before it stopped again. She didn’t know what to expect from the changing weather, but that hadn’t been it. Jack rubbed down the pup with a blanket to dry him off again and then rubbed it over her own hair, taking it out of the tie so it wouldn’t look bad, not that anyone was around to see it.
