1. Can a player character use one-handed melee skills while on the back of a sarane during a breaking? I have seen quite a few spells used, usually with the caster taking at least one hand off of the saddle to press against the drake during the relatively calm moments to cast a spell. So could a character stab the drake with a dagger during such periods to help drop it’s stamina quicker?
2. How does player combat work against a combatant using pet combat? Namely, do weapons deal the same damage/work the same way for determining accuracy(roll x dice)? Or does accuracy follow normal combat rules and damage is reduced as it was meant to be paired with the health system?

This is a great question and I am chirping in to say I was going to ask similar questions. When you answer, could you please specify whether this is a breaking ruling or a general pet vs character combat ruling?

Officially, we don't have a player vs. creature system, mainly because they (currently) exist as two separate systems - Basic (creature combat, all that fun Tournament-style fighting) and Advanced (player combat, with the Healths and the Expertises and all such). The crossover is tricky, because Advanced is intended to make combat run longer, but even if we were to give creatures Health to match it, their damages are still different (1 point of Basic combat damage equals 1d4 points in the Advanced combat). It's do-able, but would require a lot of play-testing to tune it right.
On a personal note I have fiddled with the idea of making rules for the crossover so both characters and players could become parts of the same battle (after all, Cavalry and Mounted combat is basically this, except no-one's used it yet x3) and tested one such version out during the wizard's tower quest. The concept in that is fairly basic, converting creature stats into dice in terms of hitting and defending, but its just one test with pretty middle-level stat spreads so I don't know how it'll hold up against other creatures.
The general idea Spirit had, in any case, was that a player shouldn't be able to take on a creature by themselves (usually x3) but I don't see why creatures and players shouldn't be able to 'team up' against creatures.
As for sarane breaking, can't answer that one, except that you probably wouldn't be able to use expertises for it? Can't exactly do fancy moves when clinging to dear life x3 But something simple like weapon damage + strength as damage can work (in that case, convert the weapon's dice into singular damages, like 1d6 = 2 damage).

That's good to know. It makes sense that player character's cannot stand up to creatures literally designed to be better, although some weapons do narrow the gap of power. Until it becomes an issue in an official, I might stick to the current health swap or switch over to your method. I did enjoy reading that thread.
Regarding sarane breaking, I do not intend for my character to do anything other than frantically stab at it between attempted throws, and would not mind if it only does the tiniest fraction of damage so long as it does something. I'll try it out. XD

I can totally see why characters would not do well against creatures. However, with proper armor, weapons, and combat expertise, I do believe they'd stand a chance - dexterity willing. lol It's always been a dream of mine to battle alongside my war trained creatures someday.
