Seeing as certain jobs are meant to progress into others, how about changing the two month jobless period to only affect those completely changing their profession or jumping more than one step ahead on the progression line? The idea would be to add a note under each job of what higher professions could be entered into(or just make a note at the top to say husbandry links to husbandry and all that), and, as long as the player has earned at least one month of income from their current job, they would be allowed to both collect their current income and automatically move to the new profession in the next month without needing to quit one month and reapply the next. The new form would be just like the current one for collecting income, but with an added line for the desired promotion.
Any opinions?

I like this idea. Literally a promotion rather than simply quitting and starting at another location with a higher rank. There may be an OOC game-balancing reason for the gap, however. I have asked about it before, but not with this sort of suggestion. I don't know what the possible gap-reason is.
Perhaps jobs with upgrades can be grouped together, rather than everything being separated by rank. It does currently make it hard to find things related to each other on the list - or if there are even anything related to certain jobs. A promotion system would be a great reason to have the close. ;)
And I understand certain jobs can branch into different directions. They can just be reflected as so, if re-organized.

This is not something that can be accepted. When creating the system, I found ways to break the system; and the only way to keep this from happening was to institute the rules it currently has. I will not be accepting changes to the job system itself due to system breaks.
The job system does seem to have some sort of a 'you can be this thing through the progression' but that was not purposeful. Jobs have been added at request; it's not really a true progression.
