Suggestion: Magic Shop (Not Accepted)

I know the magic system cannot be changed. But how about a shop that sells totems, or items with some simple magic that can be called from them? The HH already has the two rods that can cast spells once per day, so there is a precedent for the sale of magical items.
Magic used to be rare, to the point that it supposedly did not work properly in the labs. Now many members have at least one node, and many creatures can cast spells without any problem. The tat-lung certainly seem to be taking advantage of the new magic with their new IC form of breeding. The city has mages and those who make magical items according to the job section, so why not have a place that stocks their wares for them?
The items would not be immensely powerful, with nowhere near the flexibility of a node. Instead, each item would be enchanted for one purpose, whether with the ability to cast a single spell, to animate something that mimics life, or to power a gadget of some kind. The shop would be decently expensive, with the items housing the weakest enchantments costing at least 50c-75c. Maybe certain ones could cast a version of an attack/add an ability normally found on the stat pages.
I don't know if custom magic items could be recolored, but perhaps existing items can just be given a glow and thrown into the shop if the art would be an issue. It could also just be a shop that sells different colored wands/totems that each have a different spell attached to minimize the art load, and the creatures pulled from places like the mansion's retired homunculus and dragons. Or maybe it just sells stickers with wards drawn on them that allow the customer to slap it on something to trigger the spell.
Now, as for the reason why I am suggesting this. The selfish reason is that I am the only player as far as I know that has a character who can never craft a node. The general reason is that magic is more plentiful, mages fairly common, and it would be a nice way for players who do not want/have a node to have some form of slight magic they could use.
Your opinions?
