So far, Xentus gathered that the egg goblins definitely had the capacity to be mindful and sympathetic. Not really traits he'd first think to apply to these beings upon first glance. They could probably be trained to do some simple tasks akin to what one would assign a child. Message delivery, perhaps some light housekeeping, hoarding, and scouting. He could see them filling those kinds of roles if given the proper time, attention, and training. Part of him felt willing to perhaps take on the challenge of such a feat..
But at the same time, he already had plenty of beasts that could've used proper training as well. Mentally he sighed at this dilemma. There was a lot he wanted to do. His eyes wandered over to the white trod, considering its potential use in his plans. He could have the droid train and enrich some of his creature collection. He wouldn't even be opposed to letting Xio handle another one of these breeding ventures on his own in the future if they wanted. He was mainly here to watch and learn and ensure that nothing went too horribly wrong.
His blue eyes drifted back over to the kairfuryoo pair. Everything was going swimmingly, really. The leopard leaned forward and rested his chin on a hand, humming thoughtfully to himself. The two birds were taking turns chasing and being chased. A fun little game of tag. The leopard smiled watching them play, then drifted back into the wandering ideas passing through his mind. Having a young one of these beings would certainly be interesting. Raising and rearing young was not quite his forte though.. So if Xio took care of that part, he could step in and reap the rewards. That would be a bit mean towards the trod, but really, wasn't that the droid's intended purpose?

How much time was spent mulling and plotting, he didn't know. There were a couple ideas that he settled on, however. Xio was not only to oversee the kennel, but also rear the.. Prolific species that were popular around this place. There were a couple orbaru in his possession, cuddly little cute things they were. Kairfuryoo would be part of the ensemble, and he might also get the robot into the budding Houluh craze. Aside from that, he did need to get moved into his homestead. The recently acquired estate in his name was just waiting there, unoccupied. Many of his beasts would be moving out of the kennel and into the spacious estate. It even had a dedicated hold for the wiurns! As well as a lake in the back for his aquatic creatures. But.. It was such a hassle moving into a place of his own. And it was a pretty huge hit to his everlasting wanderlust. Settling in.. Was he even ready for it? The City did have a lot to fulfill his desire to flow about on a whim, all things considered. The thought made him blink, looking at his surroundings again.
A colorful playpen with a shiny white robot and two bird goblins. If this wasn't a sight to satisfy his wanderlust, he didn't know what would be. His furrowed brow softened into a more eased expression. Somehow, he had the feeling he would be just fine here, in this strange and magical place. Where the next day would take him could be an adventure, depending on where he wandered. The river was an interesting venture he hadn't yet explored. The leopard's mind buzzed with new prospects, already glossing over his prior concern regarding caring for his menagerie of beasts.
It was at this point where it seemed the kairfuryoo were starting to tire of their game of tag.

The bright orange and red bird took to following after the black one, and the pair made their way to the makeshift nest of stringy toys together. Azhal took a moment to take some interest in the leopard, peering at the sitting mammalian man curiously. With his trail of thoughts mostly finished, the leopard reached a hand out to the bird, curious to see what it would do. It tilted its head, blinking curiously, then reached out to touch the extended palm with his own. The leopard chuckled at the rudimentary handshake, then proceeded from it into a head pat. A chirp escaped the orange avian, then it carried onward to its mate.
Corbis extended the stringy nest to include the other ball that sat atop the slide. The mouse toy was tucked into the mass as well as a plush toy or two, and in the center of the collection sat the black and red kairfuryoo as queen over this soft domain. She seemed quite pleased with her work, clucking happily as she returned to incubating the egg-ball. A squawk sounded to great Azhal as he arrived. He returned it with a chirp of his own, then took to examining the other's work on the nest. With short little hopping steps, he made his way around the perimeter, poking at the structure every so often as if to assess its integrity. An errant braided rope seemed a little too haphazardly placed for his liking, and he took the toy and rearranged it as he saw fit. Corbis released a chirrup and puffed her feathers, as if in displeasure that he dared criticize her work.
The orange kairfuryoo's green eyes peeked up to meet the black one's gaze, as if confused at this disapproval. He took the rope back out and found a new place to tuck it in, this time with a cluck of approval.

"Xio, do you believe this to be typical courtship behavior?", the leopard asked the droid curiously as he watched the events before him. Xentus had a rough understanding of typical avian behavior. It was usually the males that were brightly colored, often to impress any potential mates with such vibrant plumage. The males could engage in many forms of courtship, from song to dance, and even nest building. Anything it took to woo a female. And although the kairfuryoo seemed to be rather bird-like (and he mentally referred to them as birds, for simplicity's sake), their behavior was decidedly not too related. Sure, the desire to incubate eggs was a correlated trait, as were the plumage and beaks, but that's probably where any similarities ended.
Here, Azhal and Corbis seemed to equally try to impress one another.. And whether or not this was courtship exactly was under question. If anything, it seemed more like they were playmates. Curious, entertaining beings indeed. Xio took its time processing the sight and eventually came up with a reply to the leopard, "... Unlikely."
With a mental shrug, Xentus could only agree. He hadn't observed more than just this, and drawing definitive conclusions on a species based on this single sample wasn't the best modus of research. Not that he was much of a researcher. He was merely a curious mind with too many thoughts passing through that skull of his. Was it too much to ask that the robot be a little more talkative though? Xentus glanced over at the droid, wondering again why it was so stoic. He could take control over it and talk to himself that way, if he really wanted to have some sustained conversation.. The idea entertained him, but it was one for a different time. Xio seemed to be enjoying watching the two kairfuryoo preening each other's fluffy necks too much to distupt.

Enjoying was probably a stretch of a word to use. In reality, the robot was merely making a record of the act and storing some knowledge into its memory for potential future reference. But perhaps to anyone else, only someone who enjoyed watching such a thing would bother keeping any kind of note of it. It was what Xentus thought, and any thought that made the robot a little more relative was a step towards him figuring out exactly how he wanted to treat the thing. There was still some mental debate over if it was merely a mindless robot, or if he should make something more of it. The master and servant dynamic worked just fine for him, but the whole programmed personality thing threw him for a loop at times. With a shake of his head, he tried to get himself snapped back to reality. There were so many things that made his mind wander during this venture. Much moreso than usual.
Xentus returned his attention back to the pair of kairfuryoo. They were making a small mess of feathers in their nest in the midst of preening each other. One's beak was shoved deep into the fluffy neck of the other, and the other's beak was doing the same in return. Every few seconds, one of the pair would fish out a loose down feather and spit it out to the side. Their long claws were busied trying to hold the other still during the process. It was an oddly charming sight. Gentle cooing sounded between the two beings, almost like the sound of roosting doves. 'Another point for the bird-like column', the leopard tallied to himself, chuckling softly at the thought. Once preening was done, the two birds seemed to settle down, cuddled tightly beside one another in the toy nest.

Ah, why did they have to be so cute? Their little arms were tucked like wings, beaks nestled in each other's plumage. Their tails were wrapped around the perimeter of the nest neatly, and the egg-balls were planted right between the two of them. Xentus really wanted to reach out and pat the two of them on their little heads, but he was also afraid of disturbing them in their rest. Instead, he happily sighed at the sight. The two actually got along just fine, despite his worry for the potential of chaos. The leopard made a mental note to thank Jack for lending Corbis to him for this little venture, and thought to report that her bird and his were rather cute together. Okay, maybe not that last part. The thought made him chuckle though.
Given that things seemed to be going successfully, he wasn't really sure what the next step in this ordeal was exactly. He didn't want to have to supervise the whole process, after all. Leaving them in the room and reporting to the whatever official serviced this place was probably the best thing to do.
"Let us go and wait elsewhere for the results of this endeavor, yes?", the leopard quietly whispered to the white droid as he stood up and stretched. Xio peered up to the leopard, responding quietly with timing that was with record speed, "I will keep watch here." A bit of a surprising response, but that was fine. If the robot wanted to stay and bring them back later, that worked for him as well. With a thoughtful nod, the leopard agreed and then began to make his way towards the door. Such an odd droid, but he did appreciate having it around. The robot was certainly an interesting being in its own right. Xentus made his exit quietly, not wanting to disturb the kairfuryoo as they lulled themselves to sleep.

Two tiny Kairfuryoo babies! Looks like Kair might be a little rare- but with perseverance surely one can pull through!
