Not really sure what a good title for this thread is, but it relates to how several of us in the discord were mentioning struggling to keep up on registries.
For me at least, a lot of the issue comes from having a hard time keeping track of everything that needs to be registered. The 'Registries and You' thread lists everything, but there's no way I'm going to have that list memorized.
My suggestion, is for pets/items that need to be registered to have some kind of 'tag'/'key' next to the shop description that indicates they need to be registered. Maybe [RE] or something? This could also be added to loot rolls. An alternate solution, as tagging everything might be a lot of work, would be to add a list of finds that need to be registered to the rules/tutorials area. For example, the for the mines could have an additional line that says "Magical crystals, Fossils, and Mines Prize Pets need to be registered here." Shops could also have a list of items/pets to be registered added to the description.
Though obviously the mods will be the ones to accept/not accept, I'd like to hear from the members (since I'd like it to be useful for more than just me) is this helpful? If it's not, what could make it better?

Maybe when you receive an item, you could get a "make sure to register this!" notice with it? Like when you find a crystal in the mines, or are PMed your prizes from a contest. That way you can go "oh ok!" And do it immediately instead of coming across a piece of text somewhere that says you need to register it 3 months later.

I like the initial idea, as this year a lot of crystals in particular, which are a registered item, swap between users. What's everyone else's view? x.20

I like Fiera's suggestion of the 'make sure to register this' notice. Though it might be more work for the staff.
I am not staff, and don't know how loot rolls work behind the scenes, but I'm guessing there's images codes that are copy/pasted into users' threads? If that's the case, maybe the notice could be added to the copy/paste bit, rather than being manually added every time?

Part of the issue (that I face) is that there is so much that mods need to do during the day. We've got rolls, we've got projects, I've got shop replies... I'm sure it is noticed that mods don't always have time to play like they'd like to.
Well, I'm mostly speaking for myself. I've barely been able to do my own stuff because I'm running ragged all day trying to make everyone feel like I'm not ignoring them.
I can totally make a list for the Tutorials area of where to put everything as it would take the least time believe it or not, but I'm not really willing to do a 'go register this' message with -everything- I send. To be perfectly frank, I've got too much to do daily already without adding more regular work to it. I hope that is understandable to the member base and doesn't sound too rude. I'm perfectly fine doing the stuff...
We do have stuff that we copy-paste, but we have to do each thing separately already. I understand that people are forgetting to do things a lot, I really do, but it is part of the game/site to remember to do your half of the accounting/registry work too. I can only do so much before it falls into your hands as well.

I like this idea. I recently found a handful of things needed to be registered that I did not. I always thought it was custom/offspring/crosses and a very few items. So...I need to update what I have. And now it's awkward. Haha Wish I'd have known, and [RE] or (Make sure you register this! <3) would have been perfect. ;)
EDIT: Ren replied while I was typing that above. The link in the tutorials would be equally helpful.

That's true, Renathan! It's totally understandable, and you have a lot on your plate. It would be nice to have a complete list of stuff, but if it's too much work, don't worry about it.

We could build it as a community, and you can check it over? Would save you some work, and we could format it to the way that the community would feel comfortable reading it. How about this? x.20

Okay, so I need y'all's feedback since I'm going forward with the Tutorial Idea (Note: It's gonna take a while, I've got a whole list of suggestions that come before this one.) I need to know- Why is the 'Registries and You' thread not working for you? What can I do with the new list to fix this concern once and for all?The Registries and You thread was only done in the past to fix this problem, so apparently it's not working. (Note: I will not be doing reminders and stuff like that because I don't have the extra time to devote to it.)

You know what, if y'all synthesizing the list to be used would help y'all since my fix did not work in the past, y'all can go ahead and crowd-source (Between Y'all on Site) one to turn in to me for checking. -nod- I just want there to be something on site that will fix this concern for y'all.

The reason the Registries and You thread doesn't work for me is because it doesn't tell me which type of registry a thing is meant to go in. It gives a list of things you need to register which is good. But it doesn't tell me which registry something like a crystal needs to go in and if I want to register a crystal, I have to go dig for that info first.

I'll look at this tomorrow when I wake up so that I'm fresh, okay? I'm 100% not looking forward to doing the 'condensing' changes y'all are suggesting, but I will try it inbetween my other projects.
-
My Initial notes:
--Note that the stuff not currently in the registries area (IE: Customs, Custom Items, etc.) are not gonna be moved to the registries area ever. Very Special Creatures are not FVSC and are not going to be registered in the same posts (FVSC are always gonna be registered with customs). --Draconic Offspring are not part of the registries area and will always be registered where they currently are like all other offspring are.
-
After thinking about this, I agreed to a list being added to the site of where to put what things; Not a complete redo of the registries system.
Do y'all promise that if I take the time to do this, it's gonna fix the 'problem' and I'm not going to have to do stuff like this again in the future?
It's gonna cause a huge amount of lifting to do this when it's not 100% required for continuation of site functions or bringing back site functions (which is what my time has been dedicated to for a long time).
I'm willing to make this a project of mine, but only if this fixes it.

Alright, this is just a rough draft, so no lifting of any sort is required, yet.
The list is above, and the proposal is totally up for discussion. Does it make sense on how we/I think on how registries should be separated?
Your initial notes are recognized, and it makes sense. If you have any suggestions on ideas? Because crowdsourcing includes mods, as users. x.20
