I can't really help you with this; because to me, the Registries aren't broken. I've got everything memorized where it goes, and since I'm the only mod that touches them, and members literally just have to tell me when they get/trade something, I'm the only one that really touches them anyway.
We will Not be putting Custom Items from the fleashop in with the non-custom registries. Because they have custom stats. We will also not be putting custom nonfunctional items from the fleashop in the non-custom registries. These Will Not be condensed.
Magical Coins and regular weapons =/= Fleashop custom stuff folks.
Honestly, if I'd known that we were needing condensing, I would have done the deciding where things go myself- since having a hivemind do stuff actually causes misconceptions like the above. The reason why the registry area is the way it is now is because it was ported over 1:1 from the old site.
-I CAN put all prize creatures in one spot. -I CAN put all prize items in one spot. -I CAN put all Crystals, Fossils, Wishing Well Items Stats items, Creature Harvest Items, Contest and Pit Prize 'stat increasing' items in one spot. This is called 'Special Items' already so it wouldn't be difficult. -I can also put all shop items together (including HH-bought weapons) -Potions would still be their own thing though.
However, Anything not currently in registries is not going to be put there. (IE: Custom weapons of any kind, custom pets, offspring, draconic offspring) <- These are regularly used and no one has trouble with them. We're not gonna fix stuff that is not broken.

For what its worth, the suggestion to put non-functional custom items under Registries came from me personally. Reason being two-fold:
1) The area they currently reside in is titled "Functional Items". Regular custom items are non-functional, so it's immediately misleading to anyone new or unfamiliar with the different upkeep areas.
2) Being non-functional, there's really no reason to lob them with the stat area since in practise they're no different to someone owning, say, a shop item (and non-custom weapons are there already anyway). Essentially, they fit better thematically with Registries (and I believe they even once resided there originally, before Kat redid the custom item area to her own specification).
(So not so much a misconception as just trying to put things back to where they once were)

I feel like people are just gonna be more confused though, I mean, I don't want there to be any more confusion after I do this.
I'm gonna try to do some of this today, so if you want me to do this Darky, and everyone -promises me- that they aren't gonna come back in a few months saying this is confusing and to put it back (which would require redundant work) then I'll do it.
But custom items with stats and stuff are not gonna be moved at all.
-
EDIT: I'm mostly worried about having to redo work again and again, because this is a non-essential project that is pushing back ones that are either essential or have been waiting longer. And I feel that 'how difficult things are to find' is super relative to each person and thus not going to be a fix that will help everyone.

Okay, so here is what I'm getting so far from y'alls suggestions, and also what I'm willing to do together.
Potion Registry: With all Potions Secondary Character Registry Prize Creature Registry: Plants, Robots, War, Veil, Mansion, Mines, Pit, Contest Hall, Gardens, Fishing, Wild, Monster, Sarane *NOTE: Offspring are -never- to be put in the Prize Creature Registry Magical Coin, Weapons, Custom Nonfunctional Items, Pit Prize Items, Contest Hall Prize Items, Shop Items Paid Creature Registry: VSC, FVSC, Crossbreed *No customs or offspring EVER go here Special Items *This is any item gotten on the forum that needs to be numbered, like Fossils, Crystals of all kinds, Wishing Well Statted Items, Harvested Creature Items, basically what is already in the special Item area.
Would something like this be agreeable to people? The FVSC stats would still be in the custom area, but the ownership would be listed in the same area as VSC, but separately since they aren't VSC. I'd move the currently registered list over there myself so they wouldn't need to be re-registered.
I'd also be putting lists in these as to what NOT to go in there (people were trying to add offspring harachiu to the veil list for the longest) in the top of the post.
So this would condense everything, I could do it today if everyone's cool with it, and hopefully people would be less confused. If you still want to make a list for the Tutorial area (which is what I was told this was going to be originally...) then go ahead after I am done so that we can get this laid to rest.
So, is this okay?

This thread sure went a lot further than I was expecting! (Though I did ask for other people's input.)
*Insert 'well that escalated quickly' meme*
Personally, I don't feel that the registries need to be reorganized, and for me I don't think it'd really help. My issue was never that it was poorly organized, but that it was a big collection of info that I wasn't able to memorize. So I'd forget about some items/pets, or have to dig through it when I did wonder if I needed to register it. My original suggestion was to add smaller reminders/info in relevant places. For example, adding a note to the loot area rules, like this for the mines: That way, if I find something in the mines (in this example) there's an easy place to check, without having to dig through everything on the site that needs to be registered. Or in the case of shop critters/items, adding a note to their shop description, such as:

What I told people I would allow is for there to be a list in the tutorials section (Player Guidebook) made of exactly what should be put in what thread. Then instead of making an MML member crowd-sourced list, like I accepted, people started making a list of where to move everything.

I can totally make a list for the Tutorials area of where to put everything as it would take the least time believe it or not, but I'm not really willing to do a 'go register this' message with -everything- I send. To be perfectly frank, I've got too much to do daily already without adding more regular work to it. I hope that is understandable to the member base and doesn't sound too rude. I'm perfectly fine doing the stuff... Ah, my bad, I read that as 'reminders on every loot roll' as being too much work. (Which, I can see how it would be, there's a lot of rolls!)

It's alright, sorry for the misunderstanding! That being said, loot roll stuff would be too much work too. But this does kinda prove my point; moving everything around isn't gonna help everyone. x3 Making a list with everything on it (apparently better than the one I made in Registries and You, which was meant to be referenced every time anyone used it anyway, you don't have to memorize it!) might help maybe? We need to understand this from both a mod and a member standpoint. Y'all are confused, I get that. And one fix isn't gonna help everyone apparently. But Mods already do so much in one day that some days I literally don't have time to do anything else. We've got to come up with a solution where everyone cares about both of those things and understands them.

Yeah, I'm also thinking about how members don't actually post in any of the registry threads, just the main 'update' one. So it wouldn't really make a difference if 'what does in which thread' was changed, since members post in them anyway.
Making my own list might be a good idea, yeah. For me personally, I'd have an easier time with the 'Registries and You' thread if it were organized by location, so I could quickly check my loot/purchases. But again, that's a personal thing, which I could make myself (though maybe other people would find it helpful too).
Though one thing that might be confusing people with the 'Registries and You' thread list is that it doesn't list everything that needs to be registered on it. For example, 'fossils' aren't listed on that thread, but are under the 'special item registry'. There may be others, but that's the only one I recently noticed.

@nerius Now THAT is something I can fix! Let me know if you find anything else like Fossils that aren't on the Registries and You thread. If y'all list them on, I'll update the Registries and You thread to be more helpful. - EDIT: I can also make a chapter for the Tutorial section that lists the same information as the Registries and You thread plus a little bit of exposition about why registering needs to be done and stuff like that.

I think the exposition about why it is important would be helpful. Especially to newer members. (Of which there are a rumored few.) I have a light understanding of it, but hearing it from a mod's deeper perspective would very likely help me feel more passionate about getting my things registered asap.

*Nodnod* I'll point out any more than I find while making my personal list.
And it couldn't hurt to add the reasoning behind registries for new members. (Riku, psst, it helps for situation like when someone sells you a pet, then forgets they did so, and then sells that pet to zoological imports. xD )
Also, should this thread be locked? At this point it's mostly 'members spitballing crowdsourced ideas', and less requesting mods do stuff.
If BD wants, maybe continue the crowdsourced list thingy in the babble area?

Yeah, I'll get it locked. -nod-
And yeah, please put the crowdsourced thingy in the babble area so that people can work on it, if y'all really want to make a list of what goes where and not a list of changes/switching stuff around.
