Fanged was in a bit of an off mood when they arrived at the park. She hoped that she could turn that negative energy into a hard-working attitude. Now that she had spent some time with Dream, they were ready to get straight to work. She would start by teaching Dream his call name, partly because she hadn’t yet decided on a show name for him. She placed the puppy on the ground, allowing him to explore the area for a moment.
“Dream!” she called out to him.
The Houluh had his head firmly lowered, his attention focused on a strange smell hidden within the grasses. Fanged expected that it would take a while to get him focused. His character seemed rather aloof and more playful than hard-working. She would have to try calling his name again.
“Dream!” she said a bit more loudly and with a higher inflection in her voice.
This time, Dream glanced up, curious as to why Fanged was making noise. He hadn’t yet clued in that Dream referred to him, but this was a good start.
“Good boy, Dream!” She stepped closer and showered him with praise. He hadn’t done the trick right yet, but he seemed like the type that needed encouragement to understand that he was on the right track. She would break out the treats when he did the trick correctly.
Dream accepted the praise, briefly leaning into Fanged’s touch as she padded the top of his head. She then waited for him to become preoccupied once more. When his snout was buried within patch of frost, Fanged called his name again.
“Dream!” she cried out.
The Houluh was a little quicker to respond to her call than he had been before. He raised his head, briefly looking in her direction before turning back to the frost that had caught his interest.
Again, it was good progress, but not entirely what she wanted. Nevertheless, she would still offer him praise to encourage his hard work. She leaned in and gave him a quick scratch on the belly. Dream flopped over and thumped his tail against the ground, pleased with the attention. With his progress, Fanged was certain she could award him with a treat in no time. She tousled with him for a moment, making sure his mind was off work once again. After a few minutes, she drew back from him, allowing Dream to do his own thing once more. When he was turned away from her, she called his name.
“Dream!” she called his name with enthusiasm.
The small puppy turned around, responding to her voice by making eye contact with her for a brief moment. He looked away quickly, but the command was almost done perfectly.
“Good boy, Dream! That deserves a treat!” She was quick to give him a small piece of meat, incentive to do the trick again.
The Houluh was very attentive as he was shown the food. He trotted forward, his tail wagging enthusiastically as he reached her. He leaned up, accepting the treat eagerly from her outstretched fingers. Fanged felt a rush of affection as Dream took the treat from her. She felt that he was learning quickly and she was proud of that. She waited for him to finish his treat before calling his name. She decided the perfect time would be while he was busy cleaning his paws after his snack.
“Dream!” she called out.
The Houluh puppy raised his head, his task put on pause as his owner called to him. He looked at Fanged, his gaze blazing with curiosity. The woman was quick to praise him. She leaned down and gave him a bunch of enthusiastic pets. Dream basked in the attention, happy to be shown love. He would need to be tested a bit more, but she felt that he was really starting to understand the trick.
It took a moment for Dream to become preoccupied with things once more, but when he was, she tested out the trick again.
“Dream!” she said his name clearly.
The Houluh looked up at her, meeting her gaze with more confidence. Fanged beamed back, glad that the puppy was learning. She rewarded the trick with another treat. Dream was thrilled to have the tasty snack and he ate it up quickly. Fanged would test the command again and if Dream performed it perfectly, she’d consider the trick trained. She watched him, waiting for the opportune time to test him. Eventually, Dream was busy pawing at a patch of dirt, his paws slowly starting to be stained with a mixture of dirt and mud. Fanged was not very pleased with this behavior.
“Dream!” she called out swiftly.
The Houluh stopped what he was doing. He turned around and glanced up at her with a happy gaze, keeping eye contact with her until the woman looked away.
“That’s good work, Dream! Now we’ll be able to start the next trick!” she exclaimed. She took a moment to scratch behind his ears, rewarding him with attention.
Now that the trick had been learned, she allowed Dream to take a little break. Everything was fine for a moment, until he decided to return to the patch of mud.
“Dream, no!” she exclaimed. The Houluh puppy didn’t understand what no meant, but Fanged was quick to grab him and pull him away from the mud.
The puppy squirmed, not pleased that he had been separated from the mud. Fanged held him steady, only letting go when he stopped squirming. When Dream realized he was free, he raced back over to the mud and tried to dive back into it.
“Dream, no!” she said more sternly.
Knowing that he didn’t have the comprehension to understand “no” yet, she quickly picked him up again. Dream squirmed in her grasp, desperately trying to reach the mud. Fanged walked away until the mud was out of sight for them. When he couldn’t see the mud, Dream settled down.
With Dream placated for the moment, she set him down, making sure to run her hands along his fur in a soothing motion. She didn’t want to punish him, but she couldn’t encourage his mud seeking behavior. After a few moments, Dream perked up once more. Fanged let him play for a while, deciding that afterwards, she would see if he was tempted by the mud again. He followed her as she walked closer to the mud. His attention was focused on his owner, but soon he remembered the mud. He rushed over his body filled with a sudden, stubborn determination.
“Dream, no!” she said sternly.
The Houluh hesitated for a moment, but he ultimately decided to try to fling himself into the mud. Fanged put her hand out, blocking him from actually reaching the mud.
“No!” she repeated the word.
Dream continued to push against her, only giving up after a few minutes had passed.
He eventually relaxed his muscles, leaning his weight against her arm. Fanged let him go, surprised when he didn’t immediately run towards the mud. She chalked this one up as a minor success, but Dream was far from understanding the no command. She needed to continue training the trick, but she’d need to switch tactics. She grabbed the food she had brought, crinkling the package loudly to capture his attention. Immediately, Dream sat at her feet, waiting expectantly for his treat. Fanged took a step back, distancing herself from the puppy. She tore off a chunk of meat, placing it on the ground. When Dream rushed forward to retrieve it, Fanged intercepted him with her hand.
“Dream, no!” she scolded him.
The Houluh puppy stiffened at the command, not quite wanting to listen, but being forced to by the hand. After Dream relaxed, she reached over and picked up the treat, swiftly giving it to her puppy.
Dream was thrilled to have another treat. She didn’t want him to become too reliant on food, but it could be a useful tool for training. She waited for him to finish before continuing. She grabbed another piece of food from the package, making sure that he was focused on her as she placed it on the ground. Dream, undeterred by his previous failed attempts, trotted forward to take the treat. Before he could close in, Fanged jumped in with a command.
“No!” she exclaimed firmly.
Dream jerked back, understanding that Fanged was scolding him. With the treat momentarily forgotten, he slunk away, sulking. Fanged followed him, soothing his hurt with a slow touch to the top of his head. Dream glanced up at her, at ease once more. She felt bad for teaching this trick, but it was a necessary one for him to learn. With his owner placated, Dream decided to try and steal the treat again.
Fanged watched as he discreetly tried to inch closer to the treat. She waited until he was close enough to reach his goal before telling him off.
“Dream, no!” she said sharply.
The Houluh drew back, this time without a fuss. Fanged was pleased with this development and was quick to praise him.
“Good boy, Dream! You can have the treat now!”
She picked the treat up and fed it to him by hand. The final test to see if he’d follow the command would be to take him back over to the mud. She tapped his shoulder, grabbing his attention. She then headed close to the mud, making sure that Dream had a clear view of it. She watched him closely, ready to react if he moved any closer to the mud. After a while, the mud was too tempting for Dream and he moved to climb into it.
“No!” she told him.
Dream was quick to react this time, trotting back to Fanged’s side after he was scolded. Fanged beamed at him and gave him a quick belly rub.
Now that she had taken care of the more unpleasant command to train, she could move onto a new trick. She decided that she would teach Dream to come when she whistled. To teach this trick, she’d need to use food to train him. She waited for the Houluh to become disinterested in her. Before long, he became distracted with a beetle that had managed to thaw in the late winter weather. With him distracted, she back away from him, having a plan to get him closer. She raised her hand to her mouth, using her fingers to let out a sharp whistle. Dream raised his head at the new noise, curious where it had come from. When it was clear he needed to hear the sound again, Fanged repeated the whistle. Dream looked in her direction, a look of confusion clear on his face. When it became clear he needed additional incentive, she crinkled the package of food that she had.
The sound of food served to draw Dream closer to her. With his interest on food, Fanged whistled again, trying to get him to learn the sound. Dream perked up at the noise, racing over to get the food. He wagged his tail, eagerly accepting the snack that Fanged gave him.
“That’s right Dream, I need you to come here when I whistle,” she spoke softly to him.
The woman was willing to give him a small taste if it made it easier for him to understand the trick. Once Dream was finished eating, Fanged backed away from him. The Houluh followed her, eager to spend more time with her. Fanged decided to lead him somewhere he was guaranteed to get distracted. Dream followed her over towards a patch of freshly planted bushes, ready for the springtime weather. He immediately rushed forward to inhale the new scents, his tail wagging with excitement. Fanged took a few steps back, creating a decent distance between them. She then raised her fingers to her mouth and whistled.
Dream looked in her direction. Fanged was glad that he was curious enough to always look for the sound when she made it. When he was looking at her, she leaned down, patting her knees and encouraging him to come closer. Dream perked up, eagerly trotting over to receive affection from his owner.
“You’re such a clever boy, Dream!” she praised him.
The Houluh puppy leaned into her affection, licking her hands as she stroked his fur. She hoped he was starting to pick up on the trick, but she needed to repeat the training some more. She snuck away from Dream when he wasn’t looking, this time moving further than she had before. When she felt ready, she used her fingers to project a long whistle. Dream perked up, his tongue lolling out of his mouth as he eagerly looked for Fanged. He seemed to understand now that she was producing the noise.
Fanged whistled again, drawing Dream’s attention directly towards her. When he caught sight of her, he raced over, eager to close the distance between them. When he reached Fanged, he leaned upwards, begging her to reach down and give him lots of pats. She obliged, making sure to give him a light scratch behind the ears before moving down to cradle his chin. They were building a strong bond between them, which would help to focus some of Dream’s energy. He wasn’t the most focused, but if she could figure out how to work around that, their training would progress quickly.
“Alright Dream, we'll try that again in a bit.”
She would give the Houluh a short break. She took the time to roughhouse with him for a bit, having read that it was important for puppies to develop their skills in play. After a little bit, Dream grew tired and Fanged let him rest.
Morgan: No one knows yet. But I did want to make it clear that the jar itself isn't used for lotine husbandry in any way. c:

Twilight-Claw: I'm only assuming that it does something similar like a Fungal Beast that infects a Leaf-scatter. (the one with moss and I think it was a pink flower growing on the head.)
Jun 5, 2020 4:18:34 GMT -6
Silver: I'll try it soon and we'll find out!
Jun 5, 2020 4:16:11 GMT -6
Silver: I don't think anyone knows yet!
Jun 5, 2020 4:16:05 GMT -6
Darky: What did the 'infection' do again?
Jun 5, 2020 4:14:43 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Thanks for this information, its really useful to know! <3
Jun 5, 2020 4:14:30 GMT -6
Morgan: The lolatic doesn't disappear after one use, and can be reused on the same lotine when it is allowed to 'infect' a lotine- to my knowledge.
Jun 5, 2020 1:41:37 GMT -6
Morgan: The only effect/thing that the jar can be used for is to open up into a lolatic. The jar itself has no use in lotine breedings.
Jun 5, 2020 1:39:52 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: and the jar is then gone, if with the creature I am more guessing with this the creature doesn't disappear and it has unlimited use.
Jun 5, 2020 0:17:55 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Something else I am wondering about with the Lotine breeding is whether one would use the jar the Lolatic comes from in the breeding, or actually the creature itself. I'm assuming with it if its the jar, then it gives people only one shot in a breeding,
Jun 5, 2020 0:16:08 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Then using it in my rps is definitely just for the sake of rp's and not for anything additional.
Jun 5, 2020 0:12:17 GMT -6
Renathan: Fish are unlimited use once bought though. c:
Jun 4, 2020 22:31:17 GMT -6
Renathan: There's no additional effect for adding a fish to a magical berry in a lotine breeding. Magical Berry is kinda it's own thing. Adding a fish for roleplay value shouldn't hurt, but it has no effect when used on a magical berry lotine breeding.
Jun 4, 2020 22:27:14 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: be just for the sake of rp, and perhaps seeing if it might lent a bigger chance to multiple offspring with unique pattern. X3
Jun 4, 2020 15:31:01 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: I think your right on it being unlimited use yeah, although.. *cough* I only found out a couple hours after I started writing that I had yet to buy the fish in question so used the one you could get for free as a replacement, it still was meant to mostly
Jun 4, 2020 15:30:59 GMT -6
Riku: From what I loosely understand about the fish is that it isn't one-use, whereas the berry is. I feel like there wouldn't be any consequence of 'using' the fish...which I'd think just ooc wouldn't be counted for whatever rolls or whatever it is that it uses
Jun 3, 2020 14:14:30 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Thanks for that piece of info Ren! <3 | But would it be allowed for the flavor of the rp if the berry wasn't filling enough for the Lotine?
Jun 1, 2020 6:09:21 GMT -6
Renathan: There is no need to double up on a fish and a magical berry (doesn't change the effect of the berry at all) in a lotine breeding.
Jun 1, 2020 6:02:21 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: Does anyone know if it is possible to combine both a magical berry and a fish in a Lotine breeding? Or is you can only choose one of them? (right now writing a Lotine breeding)
Jun 1, 2020 5:36:49 GMT -6
Twilight-Claw: I am still interested in trading it for a green drake.
