Gods, would you look at that tall glass of water! What a catch! Sexy, confident, and talented to boot? For some reason, even if he wasn’t he’d still be magnetizing. There’s just something about him. Maybe it’s that perfect black hair that sweeps over his forehead on one side? Or his chiseled jawline? His grey-blue eyes are just piercing yet warm. And those bulging muscles and glowing skin....!
In perfect shape, and clearly athletically active. Years of dancing and fencing have trained his body to be nimble yet powerful. He is quite tall, at 6’2”, with a long torso and broad shoulders, giving him a muscular advantage. He’s genetically shaped for the highest physique and he keeps his body in check.
His clothes vary from casual to dashing while in the public’s eye - which is technically all the time. But he only dresses up when he wants their extra attention for some reason. Typically he will be seen with a loose pale shirt unbuttoned under a darker vest kept tight around his midsection like a corset. That would be above a looser fitting set of pants common to the gypsy culture, which have ties around the ankle to real them in at the bottom. He is both incredibly masculine and yet hypnotically beautiful - so much so that he easily catches the attention of those who would not normally steer in the direction of his species or gender. Relying on such an ability, he always wears open clothing with enough skin showing to share his sightly pheromones.
Mental / Social Description:
So much potential wrapped up in six pack abs and bulging biceps. He’s freaking sexy - and he knows it. But he’s not cocky. Just confident.
Discovered to be a musical prodigy at a young age, he was sent far away from home to hone his skills. That being bad enough, his entire home kingdom and family were destroyed in a horrible and mysterious accident. Assuming it to be of magical source - what else could cause such a disaster? - he has hated magic ever since.
For the last ten years since the tragedy, he has had a horrible phobia of the sinister mage who must have destroyed his home kingdom. The Dark Mage is the character his mind developed in its youth to blame for all of his life's major tragedies. He has reoccurring nightmares about him either burning Aulador all over again, or coming after him to finish the job - since he’s technically an Auladorian prince...even though they always elect their officials.
Raised a Noble in his home kingdom, he was expected to rise the political ranks towards Prime Minister. As such, he knows the ways of a diplomat. And having experienced the lowest of what life has to offer, he has a passion for ‘the people’. Though seen as an underdog, he was born a champion. Tragedy set him back - but he holds onto faith that it was for a reason. It taught him humility, after all.
However, the strange thing is that since his graduation no one seems to remember Aulador as anything more than a legend. A magical kingdom who’s success was rivaled by no other kingdom...? It was very true...but no one seemed to believe it even existed. He had been born and raised there! He knew it was real. And it was a center of trade and tourism, surely thousands would have at least visited. But alas, anyone he told his history to thought him a loon or liar - eventually causing him to change his name and entirely disconnect from the place that had caused him so much pain.
Fortunately, his tuition abroad was already paid in full when tragedy struck. Unfortunately, after graduation he was left to himself on the streets with nothing but many performance skills to his name. He quickly made use of them in public places to earn money. The attention and utter need to entertain and charm to survive taught him how to get, keep, and divert people’s attention over the years.
He ‘plays well with others’, but has a hard time trusting or committing to anyone or anything other than his music and his survival. What he wants is to find a home again. To have something important to do to make a difference. To be given back the opportunity of his birthright that was so horribly taken away from him...
He’s been alone. For a long, long time. In the middle of everyone worshiping him.
Being on the streets required Adam to do anything he could to survive. He had always been a charismatic entertainer, so naturally after graduating from a prestigious arts college, he used his prodigal abilities. Homeless and unkempt, he wasn’t able to hold down any official roles in community theaters.
He turned to panhandling and performing for food and occasionally shelter. He would trade his barding services for a room at the town’s inn, but eventually his reckless and aggravating behavior would get him in trouble with either some local or the innkeeper themselves, and he’d be forced to skip town.
It started small. In the misery of his life, he’d chug down a few too many complimentary drinks for his services and end up throwing a chair out a window or picking a fight. Then that anger towards his situation started coming out in his sober personality after a few years. He didn’t care if someone was twice his size (although that rarely happened and only because he sometimes couldn’t afford enough food to maintain a proper build), he would make them the center of his act just to cause a scene and make the night more interesting. It was a rather self-sabotaging pattern...
And eventually he found that panhandling and performing songs and acrobatic tricks simply wasn’t enough to get by....but people noticed him. And he noticed their...special attention. Finally one night when he was drunk and desperate enough, a particularly rich fan made a certain proposition that he was in no position to refuse. And thus, a new ‘act’ was born - and he quickly found he was exceptionally good at it. In fact, he liked how well he....performed. And it definitely made him a good coin on the side between and after sets in that spare room he was given as the inn’s entertainment of the month.
Or rather, week...since he could hardly keep out of trouble that long. And after having a taste of what lustful riches could buy, he liked to ‘even the score’ by seducing the lovely brides and daughters of his more grotesque or brute clients. He called it a side hobby, and it made him feel like more of a man after...emasculating deeds were done.
Eventually he found himself being kicked out of most town’s inns, even after spending a few months away. They recognized his charming face and wouldn’t give him gigs - but most were still willing to exchange the regular service of room-and-dining for coin. So he took to performing on the streets in the day. He incorporated more of his fencing skill into his routine, with flashing and slashing of swords.
Needing enough to pay for his dinner and bed for the night, he knew he had a quota during each day’s performance...but there was only so much flare he could show. Some days people simply didn’t put up their coin - even if they stayed for the whole show! He had to take matters into his own hands. And he did. Literally. It all began with a drunk fool who had passed out on his bed late one night - their bag full of coin just....sitting there! What position was he in to hold onto such a concept as integrity when he himself had been royally screwed. What did integrity buy him that that coin could not? An itchy bed and an empty belly.
So he took it.
And he liked how it felt. Obviously, he skipped town...but then he did it again. And again! Eventually it got easier to steal, both morally and skillfully. He learned how to pickpocket and simply lie to get what he wanted. And the whole time he saw himself a sort of vigilante, stealing from the rich to give to the poor - himself!
The years had gone by, and this sophisticated noble had turned into a genuine gypsy. He performed, prostituted, and procured. Was it the life he would have chosen...? Of course not! But he had learned to have a blast doing it! And the joke was all on them, for when he was on that stage making them laugh he was the one getting the last laugh from their pockets, collars, and fingers!
He made a routine of ‘working’ a certain town for a few weeks and then skipping before getting caught or having the trail of missing things lead back to him. Such a cliche, but his charm and good looks distracted them enough to not doubt his intentions. He was a real master of manipulation in that way. He figured they owed him. Life owed him. So he took what he deserved - what was supposed to be his all along. He was never a fan of fancy things, but he recognized their worth to other people. And he used his spoils to buy his survival.
....but of course it got old. He had everything he wanted. The clothes, the weapons and instruments, the food and shelter. Years of masterful thievery had won him anything he needed. Now it was getting boring - and lonely. Less than a month in each town, being at the center of attention but never really being seen. He was more than his body and act, after all.....but no one could truly see that.
What was the point of it all, anyway?
So now he’s come to the Labs City as his performance tour's final destination - he hopes - a grand finale to milk dry for as long as possible and make enough dough to finally settle down somewhere and not have to constantly be on the run. That way he can actually make something of himself rather than be something he is not: a fun character, but truthfully someone he despises. He doesn’t like having to steal. He doesn’t like selling his body - especially to the pigs who usually pay for it. And he hates being diminished to nothing more than an annoying performer. It’s one thing to sing a piece you’ve arranged and orchestrated in front of an auditorium who adores you...it’s another to sing a repetitive alma mater in exchange for half your lunch.
He had goals in life beyond music once. He had a purpose, which was to lead a people into even more glorious days than they had yet to dream. It was expected of him - but even more, he wanted it. And he still did.
He needs this new place to give him that opportunity. And maybe if he doesn’t piss off too many authorities or sleep with too many shopkeeper’s daughters he can even....stick around?
Ahh, who’s he kidding? He’ll be gone in less than a month. He always is.
Adam was the childhood Rival to Rickoli Morale, and his parents were on the council with Riku’s parents, who were the Co-Prime-Ministers of Aulador. The two of them were the same age, both being trained and expected to take Riku's Parent's political place when they retired.
Adam was discovered to be a musical prodigy around the same time that Riku was discovered to be a magical prodigy. Neither of them had any interest in the other’s prodigal expertise, but were compared constantly and forced to get along while growing up, causing mutual resentment. Eventually, Adam was sent to another kingdom to study music more professionally while Riku was able to stay home to study magic with Aulador's arch mage. When Rickoli destroyed their kingdom, he assumed Adaman had been killed like the others, since it was between school years - but Adam had stayed abroad, and assumed Riku had been killed like everyone else in the explosion.
Ten years later, Adam moves to the Labs. Both he and Riku are entirely different people than they were when they had last met. The tragic loss of their families and home had changed them. While Riku was fortunate enough to have his Aunt and Uncle to take him in, Adam had no one. He had been on the streets panhandling and exchanging musical services for cheap money. He considered himself a professional bard, and he hated magic...assuming it was the cause of the event that destroyed Aulador and his family. Only Riku and his adoptive parents knew the truth about the accident he had caused.
When they first meet, they won'’t recognize each other - but they will recognize a connection. Immediately, they will be strongly drawn to one another and became almost inseparable. Adam, being homeless, moved in with Riku in his new house away from his parents. Riku will still be undefined with his sexuality, and entirely inexperienced on all fronts. Adam, on the other hand, is greatly experienced.....and had relied on his great looks to..survive. They learned to find a balance together.
Very quickly they individually realized they are in love. It will be undeniable and obvious to both. It's at this point Adam will finally opened up about his darker past and what had caused it. Aulador...Riku, mortified, reluctantly reveals his identity: a Morale - and Adam’s Childhood Rival. Suddenly they had so much more in common. And it was even more apparent their connection. However.....Riku was the cause of that horrible event. He was the one who killed Adam’s parents. Destroyed their home. Forced the love of his life on the streets to fend for himself all this time.
He will try to go a while without letting Adam know, but since the Aulador talk, Riku will be different. Eventually he'll have to tell Adam the truth...And it will be a disaster. All this time...it was Rickoli. The person he had hated more than anyone in the universe was the person he loved more than anyone as well. Now he knew for sure it was magic that killed his family. And his best friend and lover was the one who pulled the trigger...but he couldn’t hate him, even though he'll try for a long while. He hated the event - that it happened - but not Riku. They work through it, and not without difficulty. Riku was a growing mage, after all...and Adam had always had a passionate hatred for magic.
Eventually, Riku will get Adam to accept magic just as much as Adam gets Riku to practice music. Adam finds the long awaited affection he had always craved and no longer needs the attention of others to feel in control. Inversely, Riku becomes confident in his own abilities and existence and no longer needs to hide his truer potentials from the world.
