Back they were, for something different. Jewel was becoming increasingly familiar with the breeding centre, and its staff - he felt no nerves as he let himself in, but this time in the company of an orbaru rather than a pachee. Blush was snuggled against his chest, pawing at the laces of his shirt with distracted 'boop's. "Hey!" The fae waved at the receptionist with his free hand as he approached. "Paperwork, right? It's me and a partner today, I'm just waiting on him to get here." Renathan's company had been a welcome change in their previous endeavour, and he was all too happy to experience it again. There was still so much he wished to know about the stranger! Plus, an insight into his jewelry making wouldn't go amiss. He set Blush down on the ground next to him as he scribbled his details on the form, humming a tune to himself. (1)

Renathan was running late. It wasn't exactly uncommon for him, but sometimes when his work got to him, he got off of work much later than he meant to in order to go on break. On break was when he tended to do most of his orbaru breedings, so cue him glancing at the clock, absolutely freaking out after a moment of not quite paying attention, and then running home to grab Amaryllis. She was definitely one of the mammalian's favorite orbaru, and one of his newest as well. She was silky and soft, and had the brightest, prettiest coat in his opinion. However, he had her clutched to his chest and was absolutely RUNNING on the way to the Breeding Center. Will the Jewel fellow even have waited for him to work on the breeding? He wasn't any more than fifteen minutes late, but that was a good long while to wait... He burst through the door breathing hard and looking a little ridiculous, but here he was, and with Amaryllis!

Jewel tried not to look too amused when Renathan burst in, all guns blazing, but it was a difficult feat. It was no hassle for him to wait for the fifteen minutes past their agreed time; the centre was busy, and they would've had to wait for their room regardless. The paperwork occupied his time at first, and then gently grooming Blush's fur took over. "Renathan," He said warmly, unable to disguise his smirk. "It's nice to see you. You look out of breath." The fae wasn't mean by nature, but found it hard to resist teasing. He'd yet to anger anyone in the City by going too far, so he counted that as a plus, and considered himself rehabilitated from his former days of sass and insolence. Blush, sat on Jewel's knees, turned around to look at the newcomers, and booped with delight - another orbaru! Finally, a playmate for him! (3)

Renathan whipped his tails around closer to his ankles as soon as he remembered, and made sure that his mask was on right (it was, but he always checked it whenever he had to run just in case). Then he glanced down and patted the orbaru in his arms. "Sorry Amaryllis... Poor critter." He mumbled to her, petting her on the head in an attempt to calm her a bit. He did felt pretty bad about having to jostle her a bit, though he tried not to.
Then he heard Jewel's voice- oh good, the individual was still here! "I'm very sorry for the wait there- I uh, lost track of time at work." Probably sounded like a dumb excuse, but it was the truth! Amaryllis didn't seem to be too affected by the run, and instead looked up and booped at Renathan, like just about any orbaru probably would have had. She caught sight of the male, and waved her little arms at him. She wanted to play!
"Paperwork, Paperwork right!" Renathan said, trying to catch his bearings a bit better.

Jewel waved a hand. He wasn't one to call anyone out on being late; his vanity had led to him being tardy too many times to count. Plus, it wasn't like the breeding was time sensitive. There were others waiting to be called to their respective rooms that had arrived before them. "No, no, don't worry," He insisted. "I get it. We don't mind waiting." Blush would've taken exception to that, had he known what the fae was saying. He did mind, because he wanted to play and there had been no one to indulge him! Sure, Jewel was fussing him and petting his fur, but it wasn't the same. Not that the cuddles were bad. The cuddles were excellent. "I think we're gonna be waiting on a room regardless, so take your time," Jewel added, an attempt at extra encouragement. He really didn't want Renathan to feel bad! (5)

Renathan grinned beneath his mask, glad that he had not made anyone's day any worse for wear. He didn't strive to be difficult, but sometimes life does that thing where it gets in the way and makes life difficult. Still, he lowered his head and scratched the back of his neck to display his total 'sorriness' about the entire situation. "Thanks Jewel, I really appreciate it." He says, grabbing Amaryllis' paw and waving it at the individual and his little pink male orbaru. "That's a cute orbaru!" He said, anyway. Then he put Amaryllis down to grab the pen and get the paperwork done as soon as possible.
Amaryllis just really wanted to play, so she immediately made her way over to the other individual, and looked up at the male, making 'grabby paws' at him. She wanted to play!
The mammalian quickly finished his paperwork, and turned around. "Aww, Amaryllis, do you want to play?" He grinned.

Jewel was fascinated by Amaryllis' colours. He didn't have any orbaru in his arsenal that were anywhere near as bright; he was a sucker for pretty coats and bright hues, if his hair was anything to go by. He was all too happy to scoot Blush off of his lap and onto the ground to say hello to her. "Thanks, buddy," He smiled at Renathan. "Yours is a real looker. Gorgeous fur." Blush had none of the shyness that the pachee Sprinkles had experienced. He was over to Amaryllis in a shot, booping all the way! Ooh, she was pretty. He reached out a stubby paw to touch her coat, which looked very different from his own. "Hey, come sit with me," The fae beckoned Renathan to him, patting the vacant seat to his right. "How've you been? I know we were only here the other day, but a bunch of stuff can happen." (7)

Renathan bred all kinds of orbaru. Of all breeds, shapes, and even of most colors. He tried to keep them separated out by lineage and color, but sometimes choices had to be made based off of which orbaru got along. He was glad that Amaryllis and her sister were able to be kept together. In fact, this was the first time Amaryllis had been away from her sister, and she was doing fairly decently by herself. Renathan looked over the pair now that they were on the ground together... Yeah, those were gonna make some gorgeous kiddos.
"No worries! I'm glad you like her." He said, grinning. "I own this one and her sister's mother, but borrowed the father from my girlfriend." He said, grinning softly just thinking about Jack. She is such a kind person.
Renathan nodded and obliged, sitting down. "Doing pretty well myself, mostly just working. How about you?" Renathan didn't really do a lot on a daily basis really. He used to do a lot more training back when he cared about the pit... Oh okay, he was still as sore as day one about that one.
Amaryllis liked her fur being touched, she decided, and then she reached out a paw to do the same with the male. Her little ears flicked this way and that at all the sounds around them. This was new!

Jewel's grin broadened. Girlfriend, huh? He wondered what kind of a person would have matched with Renathan. Not in a bad way, of course - he had no prejudice against different races - more in the sense of personality and occupation. Lucky woman, if she had a jewelsmith for a partner! "Aww, that's so sweet," He cooed. "I only have a few, and they're mostly dark coated. Pretty, but... if you can't tell, I prefer bright or pastel colours. Blush is my only colourful kid at the moment." Blush was encouraged by the reciprocated attention. A girl who liked him! The girl back at the kennel was grumpy and booped angrily whenever he got too close. She only had eyes for her baby. Oh well! He could make a new friend now. He tipped his head with a questioning boop - was it okay to play together? "Mm.. trying to get by," Jewel said with a shrug. "Still haven't found my niche yet, you know?" (9)

Renathan realized that he didn't really refer to her as his girlfriend much, if only because he didn't have a lot of folks to talk to! Renathan flushed a bit beneath both his fur and the mask thankfully, but he still felt a little embarrassment. That was the correct term, wasn't it? It wasn't really a concept his own people had in his homeland. He rubs the back of his neck for what has to be the upteenth time today, and then listens. "Your only one? We're going to have to remedy that." He said, nodding. "I have quite a few bright ones, and you're free to take a look at my stock for breedings in the future any time you want." It was nice to have someone around for orbaru breedings again, really.
Amaryllis had never really noticed 'boys' before. Sure, there were plenty around, but she wasn't really interested much before. Maybe it was that she needed to see someone new? She had grown up with all of the boys at her home, after all. Her whole body bounced excitedly, her ears flopping everywhere as she did so. YES PLAY!
"That's understandable. I would suggest hitting up a few of the nightclubs in town to find a place to dance, but I think the most popular one may already have a dancer?" He was trying to remember what he had heard before. "I don't frequent any myself, I'm sorry I'm not much of help."

Blush mirrored Amaryllis' excited bouncing. Hooray! A playmate! Now... what should they do? There were no toys to be seen, from what he could see. The waiting room was just chairs and legs. He made a thoughtful boop, and tapped a paw to his chin as he glanced around. Now what? "That's really generous of you, thank you," Jewel replied. It really was very sweet; they'd only known each other for a number of days. "I'd really appreciate that. It's been nice to spend time with you." That sounded soppy. It was his turn to look pink and embarrassed, and he looked down at his lap, chewing on the edge of his thumbnail. The isolation of moving to a new place and having no friends must've gotten to him to some degree. "No, no, that's fine. I've been meaning to ask around about that, but... things keep coming up. Just doing what I can right now." (11)

Renathan couldn't help but chuckle at the two orbaru- bouncing like that. It had been a while since he had been around orbaru THAT excited to play. Most of the time at least one of his orbaru had been either too aggressive (a lot of Lazare babies were that way) or two shy (a lot of his pale colored ones seemed to be that way) so it was nice to see two that seemed equally matched.
"No problem, it's nice to have people around to breed orbies with again. I've been breeding them myself, and it always feels like it takes longer to do properly, that way." He said, nodding. Plus, it wasn't bad to be around other people for a little while, he convinced himself.
Amaryllis was hardly sure what to do first. She was so excited about the entire thing that she just reached out with both paws and pushed (to some degree) in the direction of the other orbaru in an attempt to 'tag' him. Then she took off, slipping and sliding across the floor.
"Right." Renathan said, nodding. "S'all we can do, I suppose." He understood the blues feeling. Every year during winter he got 'the blues' for seemingly no reason. And Jewel had plenty of reason to feel the way he did about having a rough time. "If there's anything I can do, let me know." He offers.

Blush booped. He understod! They could play like this without any toys! Like a little rocket, he set off towards Amaryllis, his big paws sliding on the floor as he went. It was veering him off into all different directions! That was part of the fun, though. "Hey, be careful, you," Jewel called after him. "Don't bump into anyone-- hey! Watch out! Oh, I'm so sorry..." The orbaru was getting between the feet of other customers, so he felt the need to apologise, but they were remarkably easy going. Perhaps they knew the perils of orbaru ownership! That was all the better, then. "Thank you. I was thinking about starting my own business, but... that needs a cash injection, so I'm gonna be doing some menial work first," He explained. "Ah, not that any profession is menial... you know what I mean. I need to find something to fill the gap." (13)

Amaryllis was a little bit of a troublemaker sometimes, though she never really meant to be. Often she just took off and did whatever her inclinations sided with at that moment without really thinking too much. She weaved through a few chair legs herself, and then finally slipped! When she landed, she scrambled a bit, trying to get up on the slick floor. This was so much fun!
Renathan went to stand up, and then awkwardly sort of did that thing where you don't really get all the way up but you don't get back all the way down again. "I am so sorry!" He called out, wincing a bit beneath the mask. Ah, well, at least they weren't really hurting anyone, if just being a little bit of a mess. That was pretty much textbook Amaryllis though...
He nodded, listening carefully. "It is a little rough getting that first bit of credit influx that you need." He said. "Took me a while to be able to open up the Cafe." That was indeed true, though it was mostly because he adored critters and had a bit too many, sometimes.
