So, Todd was a Matronne- that was a thing. Apparently for Houluh, parts were not necessarily as specific as they could be for other animals, and well, Todd was a male... And a Matronne. That was a new thing for Morgan, but they were pretty sure that they were becoming adjusted to the fact. They realized now, and it made a lot of sense. "Good boyo, Todd." Morgan said, book under arm. Apparently it was a good thing that Morgan had another Matronne that could foster pups, because Todd probably wasn't going to be able to do that part of the puppy-raising job. Morgan had already stocked up on puppy formula for the purpose just in case.
Todd walked in his lazy, adventurous way. He loved going on adventures with Morgan, so he was down to go anywhere or do anything. He eyed a mud-puddle with obvious desire to roll in it, but followed Morgan past it and to the door anyway.

Jack leaned up against the wall of the Breeding Center, Red laying down at her feet, panting hard. They'd run to the Center because he really wanted to, and while she wasn't necessarily winded, she still needed the wall's help for now. He was happy though, tongue lolling out of his mouth as he rolled over and scratched his back in the grass by the sidewalk. Still all puppy, she figured. Jack laughed a little and patted him on the head as they waited for Morgan and their Matronne. This was an unusual case, or at least she thought so, they had talked about it a little and figured Red would be the best to breed to... well... Todd. She raised an eyebrow and eyed Red, wondering how he was going to deal with that, but it would work after awhile, she knew. The woman yawned and then raised a hand as she saw Morgan coming down the walk with their Matronne.

Morgan hadn't been expecting anyone to be near the door, let alone at the wall of the breeding center, so it sort of made them jump (nearly out of their skin) as soon as they half-heard something out of one ear. How embarrassing! However, they got a good look at the individual and realized, as they stood there with their coffee that they had picked up just earlier (this time, they'd managed not to pick the pumpkin spice, but it wasn't much better), that it was Jack- and Red. Morgan hadn't seen him since he was a puppy, and boy had he grown up looking nice!
Morgan turned and raised their hand (with coffee in it) in a sort of mock-toast in order to greet Jack. Todd had already seen the pair before Morgan did, and was pretty much doing everything in his power now to stare the new houluh down. He'd never seen him before! He smelled sort of familiar though?

Red stood up and shook off before he barked at the new Houluh and wagged his tail. A new friend! That was great! But... they were here... and he was... well, a he... Eyes wide, Red looked from Todd to Jack and back again, as though asking her to explain things to him right now. Jack chuckled and rubbed his head, "Don't worry, it'll be alright..." She looked apologetically to Morgan and shrugged, "I guess he smells that Todd's a male but still a Matronne and here of all places... Poor guy." Giving a chuckle, she opened the door for everyone to go in and went in after the rest of them did, if they would. She admired Todd for a moment, he was a fine specimen, and she hoped that there would be a pup a lot like him in the litter. If not, that was fine! But she still hoped they did.

Todd watched the other houluh wag his tail, and immediately he began wagging his own as well, whipping it back and forth. He'd never been here before, but it was cool to get to meet a new friend. Hey, hey- do you want to jump in the mud? I want to jump in the mud, but I think that my human would not be happy about that. What do you think?
Morgan had trained and worked with a ton of houluh, and could pretty much see the concern on Red's face just as plain as any human would have. "I uh, didn't really expect it myself? Had to do s-some reading, when I found out." Morgan said. They hoped that they didn't sound funny, but honestly, they hadn't really taken it completely to the logical conclusion that this was a thing that could happen. Morgan corralled into the building, and Todd sent a single, sad look at the mudhole before following Morgan in his otherwise excitable way.

Oh, mud? Red LOVED mud! Ignoring his concern for the moment, Red hopped into the mud and get his paws all muddy before trotting into the Breeding Center before the woman did, much to her chagrin. "Red..." she muttered, scowling as she watched the paw prints show up on the carpet. If she had a wall next to her, she would have hit her head against it, but for now... "Well, at least he's okay with it, it seems?" she offered Morgan as she filled out some paperwork.
Red pranced around with his paws muddy and wet before he dabbed at the other Houluh a little to let him have some mud as well. He rolled over and scratched his back again, it was pretty itchy for some reason today, and then rolled back onto his belly and panted some more. Well then, this was new, a male Matronne, but... that should be fine, right?

Todd was SO JEALOUS why could he get into the mud and Todd could not? He cast his greenest envy stare over the other houluh as he did so, and then stared at his feet as he walked by. A soft whine escaped him, and he trotted after him. He wanted to jump in the mudhole too! He looked at Morgan with that begging doggy face that almost every canine that worked with humans learned at some point, but Morgan very pointedly did not give in. "That is certainly good..." Morgan had been quite worried about that as well, but it seemed like having a male matronne wouldn't mess up things too much. Morgan would wait their turn to fill out paperwork, and instead patted the poor envious hound on his head.
Todd wagged his tail when the mud was put on him, and then bent down into a 'please play with me' bow, his tail wagging a mile a minute. He hadn't really given much thought to his body in all honesty. He was kind of laid back like that.

"Anyway," Jack said as she handed the paperwork over to Morgan, "How have you been lately? Any better with the nightmares?" She was concerned a little and had offered them her homebrew last time, but didn't figure they would take her up on it anytime soon. Sighing a little, she leaned on the counter and looked down at the two Houluh, wondering what was going to happen when they bred. Obviously Todd could carry offspring, but who would nurse them? She glanced at Morgan again and smiled, they must be willing to do it until the pups could be weaned, and she was proud of that fact. Honestly she couldn't wait for her pup to get here, Luna was going to be a grandmother AGAIN, not like she was ready for it, and that was going to be great! Jack honestly couldn't wait to breed Luna again, and wondered if Morgan would be willing to breed her to Nico again.

Morgan was always the most awkward person perhaps on the planet (or maybe just in the Labs) and sort of jerkily took the paperwork as they were handed it over. "For now, it seems so..." They didn't sound relieved as they said it- more worried, as if it worried them more that it had stopped all of a sudden. They used the pen to scrawl on the paper in their looping, almost doctor-esque script. After they were done, they handed it over. It didn't take very long at all. What is polite, here? And 'appropriate'. Ah- small talk. It was like opening a huge dusty tome in the ole brain-case. "How about you? Any more tat-dreams?" That was good. Common ground, really good for small talk, at least. Morgan was gearing up for more puppies soon, so their brain was sort of on puppies at the moment.
Todd raised up from his crouched position, and stepped on one of his long ears in the process. Ah well, he was used to it by now! He forgot to let up off of the ear though when he went to look at the other houluh, and instead glanced at him sideways and sort of dumb-looking.

"That's good!" she told them with a smile and then took the papers back and handed them over to the attendant. She wasn't sure what else to say at the moment, but awkward conversation was better than awkward silence, she figured. Finally Morgan said something and she breathed a sigh of relief, "No, no new ones, ever since that one about space..." Jack trailed off a little and stared up at the sky through the window, wondering what was going to happen. She still had eggs that hadn't hatched yet, but there was something nagging her. "Well... I guess there's something. I get this nagging feeling that I'm forgetting something about my dreams. Like it has a magical touch to it, what do you think?" the woman tiled her head.
Red barked a laugh and went to shove on the Matronne for a moment, trying to topple him over so they could wrestle. He didn't get that much back home.

Morgan sort of half-stared, half-spaced out for a second while looking at the papers, so when the papers were removed and the bare counter was all that was left, the human stared for a second and then blinked and shook their head. Woops, not that again! Awkward silence was almost like their 'thing' it would seem, they weren't really all that great at socializing, not that they needed to be really. "Space, huh?" Morgan said, grinning. "Are you i-interested in space, mayhaps?" Now that perked Morgan up a little bit. They did a lot of stargazing, after all. "Y-yknow, I don't really believe in... well, magic as everyone seems to put it." They mentioned, before taking a sip of their dark chocolate-flavored coffee (and feeling the raspberry and creme shot belatedly). "Sure, we have nodes and stuff... But surely i-it-it's just Science that hasn't been properly studied."
Oh, now that was the ticket! Todd tumbled over like a champ (he did used to play wrestle with Selene, after all) and got on his back with his paws up in the air and ready to defend, perhaps a little more catlike than doglike in that single instance. That was when he realized it, the scent, the situation... You are Selene's brother! Color him tickled, they didn't look a lot alike at all.

"I guess? I used to be in the Navy back in my home country, we had to guide by the stars a lot some of the time, so I got used to it. I still like seeing them now," Jack told them with a smile as she went over to sit down for a little while. She wasn't sure if this dream would result in a Tat-lung... but she had thrown a coin, so it was possible. They didn't believe in magic? Now that was a new one, "I believe there's still things unexplained. It could be science, it could be something out of this world, but there has to be a little mystery to things sometimes, you know? Else... what's the point of being here if you're not out to answer questions?" Jack smiled a little at them and then shrugged a bit. She believed in magic, but she wasn't going to try and prove it to him.
Red's front paws went up in the air and then he tried to come down on the Matronne with a happy bark and a wag of his tail. Then, the unthinkable happened. He knew his sister! Sister Selene! I miss my sister! he barked, wagging his tail furiously at the memory of his sister.

The Navy, huh? Morgan had never heard of that before and suddenly had a ton of questions. That was good, they sometimes had difficulty in this kinds of situations, so it was really nice to have something to talk about. Still, they knew better than to ask a billion and one questions all at once. "What is a navy?" Morgan asked, head tilted, and taking a sip of the coffee afterward in an attempt to eschew awkwardness. They listened, and nodded along. "I feel like everyone's g-gotta have their own reasoning. Does there really have to be a r-reason?" Morgan looked serious for a moment, as if they were really thinking something over. "I want to figure out everything." Of course, they only had so much time to try that, but hey, goals were goals.
Todd wagged his tail and wriggled around, trying to dodge the front legs while launching a few kicks that weren't meant to be too hard at all. He continued wriggling, letting out little doggy 'chuckles' and huffs. So she is your sister! She has many pups, you know. He conveyed. She does well! I can say hi for you!

Someone had never heard of a Navy? Now that was new, she figured with a smile as she tried to explain it to him. "It's a military force that primarily patrols the water. Great big ships and seafarers. It was a requirement to join the Navy for at least two years where I grew up, so I joined in. Of course... I could have NOT done it, but I wanted to," the frown that followed hinted at some kind of argument in the past about it. She shook her head, it didn't matter anymore, she wasn't going to see her father again anytime soon, if at all, she knew. "Hey, everyone has to have a goal. I'm sure you'll find out loads of stuff while you're here!" Jack said encouragingly.
Bobbing his head, Red nodded and then flopped down next to Todd, panting happily with his eyes scrunched up a little, Thanks! I love my sister, I have pups too!
