Last time they had come across the quest board, there was a request to plant some trees. Silver was quite fond of that activity and how it went, and they even won a prize! They hadn't figured out what it was yet, but they were happy with it nonetheless. They wandered back that way on a day when the rain finally let up and were overjoyed to find that there was another gardening activity on the board. Cleaning up mud wasn't the most exciting activity, but it was one that they were sure they could do. They were really on a roll with this whole quest thing! Silver had a spring in their step as they followed the instructions to the location of the garden. Quin was happy to see that Silver was in such a good mood. He squeaked happily and tried to take the note that they had been holding, only to fall right through and tumble awkwardly to the ground. [98.25, 0.2]

"Look, I know you aren't so good at digging up plants or anything, but you can just... help with the design work, alright?" Silver tried to think of a way Quin could be of some help on this quest, but they couldn't think of one. They could have brought a pet that could dig, like last time, or one that could cause flowers to bloom or something, but they didn't. They were going to have to do everything by hand and hope that Quin didn't get into anything too serious in the meantime. That didn't seem so hard, actually.
When they arrived at the Pleasant Parasols, they quickly greeted the shopkeeper and hastily made their way to the garden. They weren't feeling especially up to chatting with a stranger, so they were happy to find that they were alone with the plants and the mud. It really was hard to get much work done with other people around.

After seeing the state of their own garden, overgrown after who knows how long with no care, they were actually a little underwhelmed to see this one. It wasn't that bad at all! It seemed like the kind of thing they could get looking tip top again in just an afternoon. Now if only they knew where to get started...
Quin was unimpressed by the garden. This didn't look like very fun at all. He did a little flip in the air, landed in a hose coiled up nearby, and settled down for a nap. Those crafty bugs were lucky that he was too tired to chase them around. Even though he wanted to nap, he kept one eye open, watching a particular little beetle he liked the look of. He was far too lazy to get up and do anything about it, but he was too fixated on it to fully relax, either.

The heavy rains this season hounded the flowers and made them droopy and unable to hold themselves up. The wet soil was not helping either since the flowers could not rely on their grip on the ground to keep them going. Silver decided that this was the thing they would work on first.
They kneeled down and gently examined the flowers, wondering what they could do to improve them. First of all, they needed to get the dirt in order. Water had washed a lot of it away and it formed clumps where it wasn't needed. They looked around to see if there was a tool they could use to help them move all of the mud back into place.
Quin was losing the battle to stay awake and he slowly sank into the coils of the house. His heavy eyelids finally shut and he shifted just a bit before finally falling asleep. Looks like he wouldn't be too much trouble after all.

Silver managed to find a small rake and trowel to work with. They assumed that the owner wouldn't mind them using it though they did take a while to consider whether or not they should ask first. It would probably be alright they told themselves and got to work moving the earth around.
It was slow and tedious work to get things exactly the way they wanted them. They couldn't move too fast or they risked damaging the plants. Once they had been working for a while they really started to feel like they were in a groove. The time passed quickly and before they knew it they were finished fixing up the flower bed.
For most of the time Silver was working, Quin was napping. Eventually the sound of a shovel hitting a rock startled him awake. He flew over to see what Silver had been doing this whole time. Was that it? He didn't seem impressed.

"What do you think?" Silver asked. Quin just squeaked and climbed up onto their shoulder. "Alright, fair enough," they said with a laugh.
"We still have some time before we have to go, maybe I'll clean up around here a little, too." At first, they only thought about the plants when they were asked to help out in the garden, but that wasn't the only thing they could help with.
Silver started by picking up as many stray twigs and leaves as they could find and dumping them into a green waste bag. Then they borrowed a large outdoor broom to push the wet dirt off of the brickwork. It was still pretty unsightly after that, so they also used that hose Quin had been sleeping in to rinse it off. They were careful with the water since too much water was the problem they were having in the first place.
"There, much better," they said.

Silver was about to go back inside and talk to the shop owner, but Quin took off and hovered around a particular part of the fence. He suddenly dropped to the ground and disappeared through the fence to the other side. Not wanting him to wander off into a garden they weren't actually allowed in, Silver approached the fence and looked through the slats. Quin was laying near the bottom of the fence swiping at one of the boards with his claws.
"Hmm," they said while squatting down next to the fence to investigate. "Something wrong with the fence?"
Now that they were close enough to see it, they noticed that the bit Quin was playing with had been broken and shoved out of place. They didn't come here to repair a fence, but they did know how. It didn't feel right to leave without at least trying to fix it, so they took a quick measurement with their paws and went to look for any spare wood they could use to patch up the hole.

"Just our luck," Silver said. "They have a spare piece in just about the right size!" Logic would dictate that the board was probably purchased originally for exactly that purchase, but Silver just chalked it up to luck and got to work. They could only imagine how happy the quest maker would be when they saw that they even fixed the fence.
They really wished that they had brought more tools with them. Between what they found in their bag and what the garden owner had laying around, they were able to scrape something together. It might have looked nicer with proper tools, but they made it work. After attaching the patch they made to the hole in the fence, they realized they had no idea where Quin had gotten off to. He couldn't be far, but Silver was a little concerned nonetheless. They were relieved to find him sitting in a patio chair. He squeaked at Silver as if to tell them that they should come sit with him and take a rest. They earned it.
