While Kodakai would love to say he had some influence on the weather recently, that simply wasn't true. Nonetheless, he found the intermittent rain rather pleasant and was not in a hurry to see it go away. Silver suggested that while he was wandering around outside anyway, he might check the quest board for something to do. It could be a way to meet some new people, after all. He didn't have any reason not to, so he decided to give it a chance.
It wasn't exactly easy to follow Silver's haphazardly put together directions, but he did eventually find his way there. One of the quests looked like it had just been put up, so he was determined to do that one, no matter what it was. It was probably for the best that he just choose one quickly and get on with it rather than try to mull over which one to do. This one had something to do with gardening, which he was not at all familiar with, but he knew someone who could help him out if he got a little stuck.

Kodakai had a lot of questions as he looked over the relatively simple request. There wasn't anyone nearby to ask, so he figured he might as well head for the place on the card and get started. It couldn't be that difficult if they let just anyone pick these up. He looked around one last time to make sure that nobody was going to interrupt his attempt to finish the quest, just in case someone else really wanted to do this particular one or something.
Well, nobody was there to stop him, so he headed off to the parasol place listed on the card. People had a funny way of writing place names, but he knew that he could ask for help if he had any trouble figuring it out. Not everyone around here was happy to see a Draconic asking a question, but most of the time he managed to get the information he needed. Usually people just needed someone to be polite to them. Then they softened right up.

The little garden was quiet and peaceful with nobody else around. It looked like he was the only one to answer the request, or maybe just the only one who was there at the moment. Either way, he made himself known to the owner of the garden and decided to get started right away. It didn't look like a terribly tough job, so he was happy to help out, even if she wasn't offering something nice in exchange. What exactly was a parasol, anyway? It looked like an umbrella, but he didn't want to insult her by asking, so he didn't.
Kodakai felt his claws sink into the wet mud of the garden as soon as he left the pavement. This must be what she was talking about. Usually he didn't mind the mud, and quite fondly remembered some times he and Silver had played in it like children. Maybe they were children. It was a long time ago, after all.

While he appreciated a little mud and the considerable amount of rain they had been having, he realized that it was too much of a good thing for the garden. The plants were droopy and falling over with the weight of the water and the lack of stability in the ground. Kodakai didn't know that much about plants, but he did know that they were meant to be upright, and that they used roots to keep themselves in the ground. When the ground was mushy, they probably couldn't get a proper hold on it.
There were still a ton of questions he wanted to ask about what the expectations were, what he was allowed to move, whether he was allowed to use magic, and so on, but he decided to keep the questions to himself and try to do it on his own. This was a learning experience and the parasol lady seemed nice. She probably wouldn't be too mad no matter what he did. Probably.

The first thing he wanted to do was clean the mud off the pavement. It seemed like an obvious place to start, as that's where he was standing, and it was something he knew he could handle. Using his long tail and a little bit of water magic, he brushed and rinsed the pavement until it was reasonably clean. He smiled at his effort, thinking that it looked quite good.
Then he looked into the garden bed. It was now more splashy and muddy than ever. He sighed. That might not have been the best approach after all. Now he had to consider what he would do about the (now mud-speckled) plants. Using his claws, he tried to brush the wetter mud away from the flowers, and at first it seemed like a pretty good idea. That was, until he looked behind him and realized that he had just been pushing the mud from one plant onto another.

The person who owned the garden had set out some tools for him to borrow, so he went back over to check them out. There were boots which obviously wouldn't help him, a parasol he still did not know the purpose of, a shovel, and a bucket. A bucket! That's exactly what he needed. He assumed that they wouldn't mind if he borrowed it, so he brought it over to where he had been fiddling with the mud.
He used his claws to scoop a clawful of mud into the bucket at a time. It might not be the most efficient method possible, but he liked the control it gave him and he wasn't good at using human tools anyway. When the bucket was full, he dragged it to an area of the garden where no plants were growing and spread it out so it could dry back into dirt. It wouldn't be beautiful right away, but he thought it might turn out nice eventually. That's what gardening was all about, right?

Other than being kind of floppy, the plants were starting to look nice. They must not mind having a little dirt on them, Kodakai thought. It would be more trouble than it's worth to clean every leaf and petal, so he worked on straightening them up instead. He saw that some of the plants were tied to sticks, but that some of the sticks had fallen over or the plants had become separated from them.
Kodakai spent a while standing up all of the sticks, and gently returning the plants to their upright positions. It was actually very calming and he felt very peaceful while he was doing it. He would have to tell Silver that he liked gardening after all. Perhaps they could do it together some time.
He stood over the garden and liked the look of the work he had done there. With a little warmth and sunshine, it should perk right up again. He considered whether or not there was anything else he could do before heading out that might help.
