The elderly woman sat the russet mammalian down on a stone bench outside of her house, beneath a few of the gourds that served as the jibiji houses. Jibiji flew around above, flitting with little seeds in their hands. Renathan could remember when Auburn was like that, flitting around with seeds in her hands. She was so different now. Renathan gently picked the bird up off of his shoulder and placed her down on the table, petting her as if she was more cat than bird. "Good gal, Auburn. E'ntcha being patient, sweetie?" He murmured to her, patting her between the ears. He scritched behind one of her ears, smiling at her from beneath his mask. Auburn made all of this just a little more unbearable and bearable at the same time. Perhaps this torture would end soon? He was just glad he was getting a break from the woman's constant goings-on.

While the mammalian waited, he let his forehead rest on the table. Hopefully it would take the woman a long time before she would finish the tea or whatever it was that she went to grab for him. He could hardly even focus, with her voice in his head like that. He could still hear her, it made him shudder. That had been the longest walk of his life, he swore. Auburn wondered why he stopped scratching her, her head tilted one way and then the other as she stared at him with bright silver eyes. She raised a paw, and then let it lower. She wasn't sure if she wanted to paw at him yet- what if he got mad? He didn't get mad at her often, but he seemed to be in a really bad mood right now, and she didn't really trust that he wouldn't get mad, even if he wouldn't be mean to her over it.

Renathan crossed his arms over his face and hid his mask and face beneath it beneath both of them. "But I'm not being patient, am I?" He asked. Did he even really deserve to be able to get a move on with his day, anyway? He had forgotten that he had to go back to work today. "Well that ain't going to happen now..." He grumbled to himself, voice kept low. He could hear the elderly woman, still bumbling around in her little shoe house. How bizarre. Auburn finally seemed to work up the college to paw at him, and he griped at her, voice growly but not mean. Not now, Auburn, he thought. I gotta give myself a rest between listening to this woman go on. Does she even take breaths? At this point, he was considering leaving and going home without even finishing this horrid quest.

The day went on around Renathan, whether he wanted it to or not. By the time the elderly woman got done making him tea and came out to the yard, Renathan quickly sat up, cracked his back bones a bit, and then patted Auburn on the head. Be polite, Renathan, come on, just be polite. The little bit of a break didn't really do a lot of helping him, he figured. However, he did sort of want to run off screaming a tad less now, so he politely took some of the tea, lifted his mask up the absolute slightest that he could at all to get a sip of the tea (he wasn't big on it- some kind of herbal nonsense but it was polite anyway and he was happy enough that the woman wasn't talking when she was sipping tea). Auburn stood on the table, her head tilted. Suddenly, she looked sort of scared.
