Just some fun tricks! Some could be taught to any critter, but others I could see being used to give Cunning 5+ critters some more things to do. *Shrug* I think it would be a neat idea that if a pet can talk and hold things, it can probably learn to paint or learn a handicraft as well.
Race
Description: Run, run, run! Your pet learns to run alongside another thing or creature and to try and stay ahead of it at all times.
Training Points: 3
Paint
Description: Your pet learns how to hold a brush, dip it in paint, and apply to a canvas! How cute! ...If a little messy.
Requirements: Must be capable of holding a paintbrush.
Training Points: 5
Sing
Description: Your pet makes pleasant noises on command, coming up with pretty tunes
Training Points: 2
(Admittedly this one is sort of... vague. But at the same time, I wouldn't imagine it being the same as 'speak up', which is just making random noises? There's a difference between, like, a parakeet squawking and singing a song it heard on the radio.)
(Combat Trick)
Freeze
Description: Your pet halts all movement and holds completely still, whether to avoid being spotted by a predator or to avoid scaring away prey.
Training Points: 1
(Combat Trick)
Track
Description: Your pet is able to follow tracks or pick up a scent and hunt down a specific individual.
Training Points: 5
Herd
Description: Your pet is able to guide other pets to a specified location by circling around them.
Requirements: Must know at least one "location" trick to specify a spot to herd to.
Training Points: 3
Backflip
Description: Your pet jumps up in the air and does a flip! Neat!
Training Points: 2
(Note: Different from the 'flip' that aerial and aquatic pets can do.)
Spin
Description: Your pet moves around in a tight circle. How cute!
Training Points: 1
(Thought of this one because it's a pretty common trick for dogs, but I learned recently that a lot of aquariums train their fish to do this so they can get a good look at their bodies to check for injuries and diseases! Which is super cool!)
Mathematics
Description: Your pet doesn't know just basic numbers, but how to add, subtract, and do basic multiplication and division, along with being able to communicate the answer.
Requirements: Must know "count", Cunning 4+
Training Points: 5
Craft
Description: Your pet learns how to work with their hands and perform different crafts with different materials such as glasswork, carpentry, metalsmithing, and sewing/weaving. Can be taken multiple times for different crafts.
Requirements: 5+ Cunning, pet must be level 10+.
Training Points: 15
(Admittedly, this one is pretty shaky, but it would be neat if sapient pets could learn trades of some sort. I was thinking it would be taken multiple times for different crafts, like the 'location' trick. Thoughts?)
Run Errands
Description: Your pet can go out and run errands for you, collecting orders and purchasing items. Functionally, this allows your pet to act as a TROD, buying something from a store while your character is in a different one. However, this doesn't allow you to be in one thread, a TROD in another, and your pet in a third- you can use your TROD *OR* one of your pets that has been taught this.
Requirements: 5+ Cunning. Pet must be taught some form of communication, whether it be writing, labs sign language, telepathy, or spoken word.
Training Points: 15
Also, I think it would be a good idea to allow 'complex thought' to be 'trained' to pets with cunning 5+, or maybe just assumed that all pets with 5+ cunning have it? IDK, I find it weird that Felusine can have combat points and learn how to use a knife and whatnot, but amphadron, 5-fingered tat-lung, and harachiu can't even though they're just as intelligent and dextrous.
So yeah, that's the list. XD I don't expect all of these to be approved, but I thought it would at least be nice to put them out there!
