For some reason they never really understood, Silver always had an abundance of weird magical trinkets around. A lot of them came from that weird mansion, but others were a mystery. They must have picked them up somewhere, but they could hardly remember where any one thing came from. From time to time, they wandered through the markets in search of new trinkets, or perhaps even a trade. There was one spot that never disappointed. They could almost always find something they liked the look of when they went out.
This time they found themselves gravitating toward the creatures on offer. There was a strange one with a sparkling mane made of... magic? Silver found themselves very intrigued by it. They sighed and looked into their bag. Did they have enough to offer for the creature's freedom? They weren't sure, but they knew they had to try. As they sought out the trader, Quintessence chirped at one of the tables. He landed gently onto it and sniffed at a particular item. "What is it?" Silver asked, looking down at the table. There was a weird little monster there, but Silver didn't think that's what he was interested in. After brushing the creature aside, they saw that there was a magical crystal on the table. The pulse of magic felt just like... yes, they would have to take one of those, too.
Offering: Buying: Prismatic Crystal, Live Caltrop, Nabein Nebuli
The trader was stoic as always, letting Silver ask themself the questions and not presenting any answers. If they wanted those items, they would have to offer up what they thought was a fair trade for them. These sorts of things didn't come for free after all, and the trader was quite secretive about where he got his stock. They made a beckoning gesture at Silver, as if to say "Make your offer."
That's right. The trader didn't say much. It was strange to interact with someone so stoic and quiet, but Silver found it strange to interact with most people so they didn't think much of it. They glanced back at the creature they were thinking about and quickly considered whether or not they possibly had enough to trade for it. They pulled their bag off their shoulder and gently set it on the ground. As they went through it, they set things aside that they'd be willing to trade until there was a significant pile of objects sitting there.
"I, ah, I'd like to trade, please." Well duh, what else would they be here for? "For that creature, over there, the one with the green and blue mane." Then they looked up at Quin who who gestured to the crystal that they had grabbed before. "Oh, and this crystal, please... ah, and whatever this is?" There was an odd spiky creature stuck on the crystal. It was pretty cute! Could they afford all of that? They hoped so, since they didn't have that much more with them to offer.
Start a new chapter, find what I'm after. It's changing every day. The change of a season is enough of a reason to want to get away.
The trader examined the items slowly, picking each one up and turning it around and over like it was a matter of life and death. Finally, he set them all down and swept them over to his side of the counter. Then without further ado, he set the key to the beast's cage and the prismatic crystal on it before nodding and stepping back.
