Thankfully, the settling of the new additions went painlessly for Ridelys. Given their own area of the kennel to take on as their territory, she had the encroaching issue that she would need to break the green drake sooner then later so he wasn't a danger to the rest of the brood, herself, or even himself. That spade on the end of his tail looked consistently... damp. Like it extruded something. And she didn't want to be stung by that. However, docking a sarane's dangerous tail sounded more like an abusive measure then a safety measure. So she had gone to the trouble of sealing it in a thick wad of gross tasting fabric. Thank you fermented tea. Banana was her next motion of something to do. He was taking his sweet time on growing up, that was for sure, his shoulder reaching her waist, and at the height now of being able to happily nip things out of her hands if he were trying to be underfoot like a lovable dog. In this case she started thinking he thought himself to be just that. A dog. 1

Not that Ridelys entirely minded his sweet time being taken; for this made... she had to count for a second... three unbroken drakes that had her name attached to them via the sarane registries the pit kept. Oh yes, lets register all the sarane, but not wiurn. Not giant sea monsters. No. Just dragons. No complaints, none. They were pretty much designed for fighting anyhow. Sadly. 'ow.' she had to get whatever in her hands out of the way as a playful nip on her overstretched arm caught her attention. Banana had managed to yet again get out of his enclosure, the sly little runt, and stood there in his wiggly state, eager for play and for attention. 'Fine, fine. Lets go outside.' Kidding you not dear reader, he bounded towards that door and stood there, all wiggles and ready to go outside. If she could read his mind (which is not possible), it would be all 'out out out out! PLAY?!' 2

Sooner then later he would need to be brought around on a chain leash, as seemed to be a more common practice with sarane. She only had one and it was being used, so it might be worth it to buy another, in another color for Banana. He knew that red loop that went over his blocky head and around his neck meant outside, it seemed, and tried to hold it together while she fastened the two pieces together and opened the kennel door. A bullet of brown and white and yellow, towing her as she barely managed to shut the kennel door dragged her down the hall, nearly falling down the stairs, and out into the common area. A few people ran from the encroaching state of excited drakeling teen, but she had to dig in her heels again and coax him to stop. For it appeared a glowing flier was put up on the board. 3

Read read read... glowmoths huh? Ridelys hadn't heard of glow moths before. Moths regular? yes. Fire flies, yes. Not glow moths though. Perhaps it was a pethian thing. Go to the park and bring back live samples, huh. She had a jar somewhere in her satchel, maybe. But she would need to get to the park first. Banana sniffed around in the commons of the area, his nose picking up all sorts of smells, and occasionally the smell of another sarane. From what she'd read, there was a big influx of in season hens out of the blue, and the first eggs might hatch any day. She wondered if Caiman would be interested in taking another hen. It hadn't gone so well last time, as he'd been completely dominant about it. However finding a proper mate might be tough, who knew how many hens remained in the city. She technically only had three to her name, and none of them were a. old enough, b. of attitude to put up with Caiman. 4

Out at the park with surprisingly no pit stops, the young drake shook himself out, flapping his small wings(which more resembled Queenie's wing size right now) and ready to explore and play. It was getting mildly darker by the minute, but the park had enough lights out that Ridelys wasn't entirely worried about taking one of her younger animals out at night. Granted, she did not have the gift of seeing in the dark, and wished she could on some times. Like Spirited Away, the lamps started to light on their own as the night encroached, spreading warm light on the ground. From what she'd heard, moths in general were attracted to light at night. Which made sense for why she found crispy flying bug bodies around the lantern in the morning. THey were lulled by it like literal moths to flame. Wonder why. Snap. She felt a tug on the leash, but it didn't go flat on her. 5 13/13

something fluttered by banana's snout as the light continued to fade. He followed it briefly before opening his mouth and snapping at it. Whatever it was darted away. What was that? Could you eat it? He starts forward to follow the darting thingy that wasn't touching the ground, but the thing around his neck that pulled felt a bit tigher. Where'd it go, where'd it go. Banana wsn't a big sarane, and she didn't know if he would actually GET big. From his bloodline, she couldn't remember measuring up the hen that had been courted was that big or not. Granted, Dune wasn't big. He actually remained a full head shorter then Caiman. He was a three breed bloodline, and his red or gold lines might be having him be smaller. She didn't know, and frankly didn't care. All of her sarane were special, unique and their own branded pain in the arse. {You're welcome} she slammed the figurative door on the smug reply through the ribbon. 6

A big difference would be that none of her sarane, although possibly related by blood, didn't act like a brood family. Caiman ddidn't live in the kennel, preferring his wild territory where he ate, slept and flew in the sun. To avoid him being eaten by the rumored red that guarded the labs, she registered Caiman for his 'job' as a guard. That he wore a ribbon, his burns and scars that differentiated him out from the rest of the dime a dozen brown drakes. Nobody had requested a ranch guard since, but sarane were very prolific previous, and probably going to be again. Perhaps it was time to move out of the kennel and acquire some actual land. Someplace where she could let the drakes and hens and the rest of her menagerie roam. Would Banana's growth finally take and let him become as big as Caiman? Or would he be smaller. He already looked stockier. 7

Did she happen to have that flyer about new properties that arrived in the mail still? Occasionally when in a rush, Ridelys would be taking the mail, stuffing it in her bag and going out the door with it. The leash wrapped around her wrist for now, Ridelys set to looking into her bag for that advertisement. Perhaps that tree planting was to start scouting land for new properties. How big did the boundaries of the Labs expand to? Outcide of the city, there was plenty of space, but the protections only were so far. Granted, she didn't stand out too much. Oy right, feathers in her hair for some reason or another. Eh. Banana squinted in the dimming light. WHere'd it go, w here'd it go. Before he knew it, something landed on his snout. What was t his? Practically cross eyed, the drake squinted down his snout at the thing. 8

For Banana, he found interest in putting the strange items given to him into his mouth, or at least portions of them. She wouldn't let him swallow them. Each item tasted kind of cold. Then she took his new toys away, going over the fence he could not climb and started to dig around. The thing on his snout fluttered its wings, which he could see through... and it seemed to light up on his face. Suddenly he was looking into miniature facets of light. Oooh, shiny. He sneezed, and the lit object took to the sky again, beaming slowly. Lunging forth, he snapped his jaws at the shiny thing. he liked putting strange things in his mouth after all. Didn't know better! Ridelys had fournd the advertisement. Mostly on types of properties that were available to build up. If she had her way, training her sarane and her own menagerie apart would be good. 9

For the amount of creatures she had... likely a farm would be a good start. She lived personally alone, and wanted no roommates. Spiritual journeys were a lone wolf sort of thing after all. If she ever did finish her quest on that. What sort of wisdom did the eagle wish to bestow on her anywhow. Back to seeking living arrangements. Huh... if she wanted the ability to train on her property, she needed to apply for an amenity of a training ring. Which frankly made no physical sense to her, but probably registries. No unauthorized trainers after all. Silly Pethians. As she read the advertisement, a fluttering of wings as something lit up her darkening piece of paper. Glancing at it, she looked at the bug that landed. It fluttered its wings, beaming softly. IF it wasn't a firefly, it might be a moth. She heard Banana snapping at things again. Was this what they needed? 10 14/14

Looks like your sarane has the right idea! You still have to catch them, though!

{You are a cloud again} the rough and frankly amused voice echoed through the ribbon. She could feel the elation of racing the wind and diving around in the clouds like some sort of aerial neptica. {A dark cloud} She'd have to eventually stop telling her partner off for randomly peeping into her thoughts ribbonwise and mind his own business. 'I'm lost on what I should do.' she finally admitted, heading for a tree once the little moth took off from her papers. 'What is best for both myself and all of you.' The air seemed to hum a bit around her ears as she continued. 'It would do us all good to be out of the kennel and out in the wilds of sort. Having a place to call my own. Then I'm seeing all of you every day and not just donating my attention in one direction.' {Like towards the whelp} Did he mean Dune or Banana? 11

'I have multiple sarane Caiman. Please be specific on who you mean.' Ridelys sighed. 'that whelp' could have meant any of them. Except Queenie, who from physical standpoint, was fully grown. She would be a hen in this case? {The whelp that you left with. The runt.} Oh. 'Banana is not a runt. He's... taking his time on growing up.' If that didn't equate to runt, what did? He was definitely not the smallest sarane she'd ever seen. It could be genetics of his parentage, but there would be no proof of that. All sarane give or take would overtake her in height. Dune's horns went over her head, but other then that, they were the same. Maybe a bit taller. What would banana be like when he finally got big enough to be considered old enough to break? She'd seen the very slight growth of his horns. But no sign of any tails of specialty. 12

Maybe he should be taken to that local animal vet in town. Or a change of environment. What else coudl be causing his lack of growth? {You are henning him.} the drake in her head said opinionatedly. He had no raised whelpdom... Total speculation on his part, but the whelps in his territory that his partner decided to hen over wasn't his problem. If they were grown and in his area, and she did not protect them, he would drive them out. {Do not hen him anymore.} 'I won't abandon Banana, Caiman.' the fierce rebuttal of the theron wasn't a surprise to him either. Despite being... her, the henling he called partner (reluctantly) had a strong instinct of protecting the small and the weak. And the prey. But not his prey, for he did not depend on her for eating. The young drake on the other hand fully depended on his partner for eating. And other things. 13
