{Why shouldn’t I?} Avander replied. Well, there wasn’t anything Aster could say to that, he supposed; and it was a good thing that Avander was having a good time.
{Alright, enough posturing. Let’s get back to work.} Out loud, Aster said, “Go,” and Avander careened down the opposite end of the ramp. There was another obstacle, this time a tube. “Lay down,” Aster said, and Avander flattened himself against the ground. “Crawl.” Now Avander advanced on his belly, crawling through the tube. It was amazing someone managed to find a tube of the dimensions needed to accommodate something of Avander’s size, but Aster supposed these event organizers didn’t keep their jobs for nothing.
Once Avander was out of the tube, Aster had him dash several times in rapid succession. They’d gone through endurance training not long before this, so now Avander was able to manage it comfortably. As he did this, Aster muttered a spell under his breath.

The spell finished, and Aster channeled his magic into it, then let it go. Abruptly, a series of what could only be described as pillars of wind shot up as if they had come from the ground. Avander knew it was coming, of course, and he wove between them as easily as though he were dancing. It looked choreographed, and to some extent, it was, in that he had warned Avander of what he intended beforehand. But the spell didn’t allow Aster to control where the pillars emerged. They waited until one cut close, and on Aster's signal, Avander blinked through it, coming out well clear of the cluster of wind pillars, completely unscathed.
Aster wouldn’t have trusted any of his other creatures to do it, but Avander had training, experience, and the ability to handle it, not to mention how long they had been working together. Somehow, Aster felt that he didn’t need to worry if it was Avander.

Now they could get on with the rest. “Avander, fly,” he said, and Avander lifted off, doing a fast circuit of the entire ring, even blowing a little plume of cold to make a trail of glittery crystals behind him. Aster rolled his eyes. “Higher,” he said, and Avander climbed until he had reached as high as he could go to stay within the confines of the building. There, under Aster’s direction, he hovered, building up the audience anticipation as Aster himself walked out onto a clear stretch of the exhibiting area.
“Dive,” he said.
On Aster’s signal, Avander dropped smoothly into a sharp stoop, angling down directly for him. Aster watched, waiting; because it was Avander, he didn’t flinch even as the Wiurn careened at him, faster and faster.
And then, at the last possible moment, Avander pulled up, just barely missing the top of Aster’s head.
(Avander uses Fly, Higher, Hover and Dive on command; he also uses Breath of Winter on his own, for aesthetic effect)

The wind of his passing buffeted Aster, throwing his clothing and hair into wild disarray. Avander circled once, and then landed on Aster’s signal, right in front of him, as neatly as a cat.
“Thanks for your time,” Aster said. Avander swished his tail, blowing another plume of frost, before the two of them walked off the stage.
{‘Thank you for your time’? Come on, can’t you think of anything better to say? I worked hard out there, you know,} Avander said.
"You want a speech, you write one for me next time," Aster replied. They'd made a reasonable showing, and Aster was never one to pretty things up with words. Maybe it would have been better for the sake of events like this if he were, but it was as he'd said at the beginning. The quality of his creatures' training was just going to have to speak for itself.

Meanwhile, while most of the other contesters are busy showcasing their companion, she and Rayak had picked out a quiet corner for themselves as she wanted to finish the last details with grooming him, using a comb from her backpack to make certain his hair is going to look soft and shiny, and gentle combing the feathers in his wings, taking out any loose and broken bits, and watching it disappear after a while. She isn’t certain how it is possible for a Kind Mosca to just sprout wings whenever they want, or that when they are ‘out’ she is sort of able to touch them if she does it gentle enough, while rough handling just makes her hand go through it for some odd reason. After that she uses a jar of Scale Shine on his claws when having cleaned them with water from a bottle and a soft cloth to make them look healthy, and shiny under the light. That she used the water and soft cloth to clean the bracelet Rayak is wearing goes without saying. She grins at Rayak as she keeps hearing him purr under her ministrations, glad that he welcomes the last bits of grooming needed to make him look perfect, and not minding it one bit that she adjusts his headband to sit comfortable on his head. He already had taken a bath before they left for the contest, so he carries a pleasant smell of soap, that very likely will go unnoticed, while just in general looking clean. ‘ And done, that’s the last claw that needed to be gentle rubbed in.’ She comments to Rayak while screwing the lid on the jar and dropping it together with all the other supplies back into her bag, slinging it on her shoulders, and settling the straps so that it won’t dig painfully into them. ‘ Well.. That was certainly pleasant, but it’s back to business, isn’t it?’ There was just a hint of wistfulness in his tone as he said it to her, examining his claws by lifting his left front paw and unsheathing them, turning his paw this or that way in a curious manner as he observes his claws. ‘ Yep, and I think the grooming took longer then usual, as from what I am seeing, not many people are currently focused on the ring or waiting impatiently for their turn.’ That’s just from what she can see within a glance of looking around. She should have perhaps taken the time while grooming Rayak to stop and see what is going on inside the ring, but frankly, she enjoyed the sound he made while she was busy with him and hadn’t wanted to stop until she was done. She doesn’t do it all that often after all. (Autumn Red Panda Pachee Please)

Once the latest contester left the ring, they made their way towards the entrance of the show ring, having had to take a wide berth from some of the contesters. She wasn’t certain exactly what kind of showing a Vespa has done, but she knows from experience with Dysis that they can be very fast, and she is just a very tiny version of it, not the big one she sees a Ssashirk staying close with. ‘Could we use any of that?’ She hears Rayak say in a curious tone, and looking from him, to where he has his gaze directed towards, she sees in a corner, poles, hoops, small and high jumping platforms on wheels, even foldable tunnels, but those last ones she didn’t really see right away anything in Rayak’s size. ‘Yes, I think we could..’ It would certainly make the showing a lot more fun to do then just plain flying in circles as she intended at first. She hadn’t thought of using the equipment of the Contest Hall this time, but now that Rayak pointed it out..
A plan starts forming in her mind.
‘C’mon Rayak, let’s greet the judges and public first.’ It would make more sense to start with that, and then organize the terrain to be exactly how she wants it for Rayak’s performance.

With one last look at the equipment he noticed first being there, he follows several paces behind her, tail flicking in contentment side to side while he has his wings folded neatly on his back. He didn’t feel one bit nervous with facing the crowd as they entered the ring. Compared to tournaments where he needs to fight for his life sometimes, this here means nothing to him, there is no gong announcing the start of the fight, or a crowd jeering for their favorite combater to win the match. There is only himself and her in the ring, with no idea yet on what she is planning to do, but still knowing he will do his best for both her, and his own pride. “Hello everyone!” He hears her call out as he comes near her side, sitting down at her right and curling up the tail around his body, he peers at the crowd with interest while seeing her bow for a few seconds before standing straight again. “I am Twilight, and this here is Rayak, a King Mosca. Or sometimes said to be King’s of the jungle.” He flicks his ear at hearing his name, and notices the movement of her arm to present him, but he finds the curious looks the crowd is showing into him much more interesting. “I just need a moment to set everything up, and then we’ll begin.” He turns his head in her direction, but doesn’t leave his seated position. He knows she will be back soon, and he feels relaxed enough to wait and see what she is trying to set up. It isn’t just the crowds interest that spikes when he sees her come rolling in some high and low benches quickly enough, her backpack left behind somewhere while coming back for more each time till she has about five of them, positioning them in a way that he knows if he needs to get on them, he’d need to jump with each one, especially when he starts seeing how much distance she places between them. She retreats once she does something at the bottom of those benches that makes a sharp ‘click’, going back to the show ring’s exit to get some more equipment after having positioned it in three quarters of a circle, leaving the lowest benches more at the opening. This was all placed close to the show ring’s exit, likely so that everyone in the crowd can easily see what is happening everywhere. (Not on Command: Sit, Name, Stay)

He sees her carry a wooden seesaw with a slight bit of difficulty as he hears her grunt, but she is quick enough to place it close to the bleachers at his right, then left again. He flicks ear as he hears the crowd murmur amongst themselves while they wait, and wonders if he perhaps should join her, carry something in his mouth that he could lift on his own? Make the progress go faster? Kneading his paws on the ground, he decides against it in the end, it hadn’t been all that long yet, he just has to be patient. When she returned, seemingly a final time, she carried with her long poles in her arms that have on one end a long cross pattern of metal so that they don’t fall down when finds the right spots to place them at, and a large hoop around her shoulder. Smiling at him, she gives him a small nod, and he puffs up his chest, the corners of his lips itching higher and resembling somewhat a smile like hers as he knows he did good with just waiting for her. She only needed to plant the poles in a straight pattern on his left side, and farther away from the bleachers compared to the seesaw, before she returns to him, the large hoop still on her shoulder for only a moment as she grabs it in one hand, and let it rest against her side. It doesn’t seem like that one will be placed anywhere in particularly he notes. “With everything set up now, I hope you all will enjoy the show.” He notes she doesn’t sound the least bit nervous when speaking to all the other humanoids when she does it, her hand gripping the large hoop tightly. “Rayak,” He hears, and his ears flick to attention, his gaze snapping to her face as the tone sounds serious. “Follow.” ‘We’ll walk first, but get ready to run.’ He hears her further instruct as he starts to stand on all four and walk calmly at her side, watching her movements as he is led in a circle of the show ring, only breaking the pattern a little when the objects are in the way. Flicking his ears behind him as they don’t seem to do much but walk, then with some unseen signal when they start the second round, he feels relieve. “Rayak run!” Watching her hand, he sees her pointing at the seesaw, ‘Try to run on top of it as best as you can, then try to get on top of those jumping platforms.’ while she herself makes her way to the low and high standing benches. Narrowing his eyes, he races on top of the small wood, claws out and gripping the wood as it unexpectedly lowers itself when he is past the middle, but he recovers fast enough to continue with that, the tips of the headband flutter against his folded wings from the speed, but it is so light, that it is easy to ignore. He trusts her to not let him get hurt from this.
When he finally touches the ground again, he races to the jumping platforms she mentioned, seeing her tap on one in particular, he figures that the middle and highest one that reaches her chest is his final destination. When he reaches the platforms, he jumps, landing on it easily enough with his claws gripping on the top of the bench so that he doesn’t fall off from the sudden stop in momentum, and calculates the next jump when he sees it is farther away, needing to jump twice more to reach the highest one she is tapping her hand on. “Yes, that’s it Rayak!” He purrs at hearing he guessed right, sitting down for a few seconds as he watches her hand rise with the large hoop between this and the bench below he hasn’t jumped on yet, ‘Try to get through this hoop, then jump back on top, and do it with the other side Rayak.’ That sounds pretty easy actually, even with his wings folded, its still large enough to pass through it. “Now Rayak.” Hearing his name, and seeing the object between where he needs to go, he jumps, feeling his wing tips barely touching the sides of the hoop as he lands on the lower one, making a tight circle to face the higher one, he jumps again, and waits for a second longer to have her place the hoop at between the other platforms before doing it again. His muscles feeling the stretch of all the sudden movements he needs to do as he jumps back on the highest platform and waits for further instructions.

Seeing her pointing above herself, he didn’t need to wonder for long what she wants him to do. “Rayak, fly!” Spreading his wings, he leaps into the air before flapping with them to raise higher. He knows instinctively had he not done that, he likely could have injured her by accidently clipping her against the head with his wings, as ethereal as they are, its also still on a more physical plane then any other creature who is entirely ethereal from what he had observed in the past. But he can’t help but wonder what he is supposed to do now? ‘Rayak? Can you accelerate in the air and make sharp turns? Once I say your name out loud, I want you to try and dive through the hoop.’ If his teeth weren’t as sharp as they are, he would be chewing on his lips when he starts feeling nervous, as it is, he has his ears flattened, while he starts flying faster, but makes tight turns when he nearly reaches the end of the room, he ignores the crowd watching him, listening for that one word that says what is going to be expected of him next while making sure not to crash against the walls.
“Rayak, now!” Finally! Slowing down enough so that he can look below on what is going on, he sees she has climbed on top of the highest platform, holding the hoop above herself and closest to the crowd while she is at it, no doubt wanting them to see the performance even better. He needed to reposition his flight pattern for only long enough to know for certain he could get through it and not miss the hoop, before he tucks his wings at his side and dives. His ears flatten even more at a few of the people screaming when he comes closer to them, the ribbons of his headband fluttering hard enough to sting against his back slightly, while he is making it look as if he is going to crash with how he has his body positioned.
He nearly doubted himself when he felt like he wasn’t going to go make it through the hoop perfectly in the middle if she hasn’t adjusted her grip on time to move it enough so that he does make it, he is then quick to snap open his wings with the sound of a flag being pulled tight all of a sudden, and glide above the crowd, back to the middle of the ring before going higher once more. Since he hasn’t heard her asking him to land, he is going to assume he still needs to be high up in the air. He doesn’t fly as fast as previously though, rather, he now watches what she is doing down below. Seeing her climb off the platforms and positioning herself on the ground so that she is still close to the platforms with the hoop between the very lowest and second highest, but sees that since she isn’t in the middle of the platforms, she can run more easily in whichever direction without pause. ‘Rayak, go through this again, but first land on the highest part, I’ll run with you to the next one.’ He wasn’t certain which ‘next’ one she meant, but he’s glad not having to try it in the air again, its nerve wracking for him to get it right and not injure himself or her accidentally.

“Now Rayak!” He hears a moment after, and dives to the highest platform, landing on it he folds his wings, and starts jumping to the next one, then going through the hoop at the last platform, he hears her dropping it on the ground. “Follow.” And follow he does, taking a few paces behind her so that he can easily see where they are going. ‘Try to go left and right with these poles Rayak. Your not meant to barrel through them.’ He hears her say a moment after, he perks up slightly at seeing what she meant with the ‘next’ one apparently, but seeing how close they are, he knows it will take a while to get through ten or so poles without messing it up. Slowing down and tucking his wings more tightly to his sides, he tries to twist left, right, left again and again, messing up with almost the last one as he pushes against it too much and the pole falls.
Ears flicking behind his head for the failure and ducking his head so that it is lower than his shoulders, he can only hope that it won’t end up being too bad, this is the first time trying something like this. No one can blame him for messing something like that up right? ‘Almost done Rayak, you did good.’ He lets out a breath of air from relieve. Alright. So it wasn’t too bad for his performance. Next, he is led to the seesaw again, and sees it had been put into its previous position before he raced on it, likely while he had been busy in the air for a bit. This time he is prepared for the seesaw to move after the middle when he passes it, ignoring the trembling of the wood as it hits the ground, and following after her as she leads him once more to the jumping platforms. He sees her pick up the hoop again after she tapped on the highest platform. Making it known to him where she wanted him to be. He jumps from the lowest, to the highest.
Stopping for only a moment, till he sees her tapping on the very lowest again, so he goes there, jumping more easily between them now that he knows what type of distance he needs to make with each. Flicking his ear to the side he watches her tap the lowest bench from the other side with an expectant look before backing away. Okay, so she wants him to go there? He hesitates only long enough to be certain how much strength he needs to use in his hind legs for the jump, as it is much farther away, and repressed a growl of annoyance when she wants to make it even more difficult with the hoop hovering between them. He shakes his head at her, scowling and showing his fangs enough to make her look bewildered and backing off with the hoop so that he can make the jump more easily.

Landing perfectly on the other side, he sees her tapping the highest platform, and letting go of the hoop. Good, he’d rather not need to keep calculating how well he needs to jump through it each time, especially as he hasn’t done all this before when it comes to that hoop. Jumping again, and again till he reaches the highest point, he felt his interest peek. “Down and stay Rayak.” Since the platform isn’t all that big, he curls himself up as he lays down, his muscles tensing as he is certain there are still things she might want to do, and wondering what he is supposed to do next as he watches her leave the center of the platforms and head to the middle of the ring. “Well, I hope everyone enjoyed the show as much as I and Rayak did with performing it.” He hears her say, it sounds like they are done? “Rayak come!” She calls out while tapping her right tight unconsciously. He is quick to stand up again, and jump from each platform till he reaches the ground, he could of course have just jumped off the highest one, but with all the trouble he had to go through with it, its almost automatically that he assumes he needs to get off it in this way.

Walking slowly towards her, he sits near the side she tapped her fingers at, subtly rubbing his head against her leg as he starts to sit down, and mushing up his headband a bit with it, wanting to leave his scent on her, and at the same time demand compensation for all of this. Flicking his tail at the tip before he curls it around his body, he has his wings meld back into his spine, he’s very certain now that they won’t be needed again for today. “Thank you for watching, and see you next time.” She wears a pleasant smile on her face as he sees her bow before straitening up once more and looking at him with an excited grin. “Let’s go Rayak.” He is more then glad to do so, following right behind her with his tail half curled up in the air, after he is lightly scratched him behind the ears with her fingers when she passes and avoiding messing up his headband, knowing he can rest now, and hopefully gain some of that meat he had smelled in the beginning from her still missing bag, he feels rather famished with that workout he has done.

“You can stay here for now Rayak.” He looks up at her with inquisitive eyes as he hears her command, and sees her pointing a bit farther away from the exit while she only walks a few steps to the side and grabs the backpack she had left behind for the show. “I still need to clean up the equipme-“ She cuts herself off when they both see a couple of people wearing the contest hall uniform and carrying on their chest, tags with names on it heading towards the ring. Nodding towards her for a second, and then working on picking up all the equipment and stashing it back into the right places. “Or I suppose we can just head into a corner again to relax.” She grins, and he thinks she is actually relieved with not needing to put away everything she had used for this show. He knows from seeing her work, that it usually tends to be faster with setting everything up, then cleaning up after yourself when having left a mess behind. ‘I could certainly use the rest.. Perhaps.. Even some food too?’ He tries, hinting at his want for food as he feels himself becoming hungry, and hears her laugh at that. ‘Sure, I have some fresh meat packed away.’ She comments with a grin as they head away from the ring’s entrance, already opening her backpack and searching for the aforementioned food while he purrs in satisfaction.

It was always at this point that they started to regret not having a plan. Why did they always do this to themselves? Silver sighed then put on a huge smile for the show. It was the least that they could do while they fumbled their way through another performance. Rena was beautiful and clever, so they were pretty confident that she would score well despite their scatterbrain. They reached down and smoothed the fur on top of her head back, both to comfort her and themselves before walking out into the show ring. The agility run was pretty straightforward. They just had to run around and prove how fast she was, right? That seemed easy on the face of it, but they weren't entirely sure that would be enough by itself. Silver was sure they would think of something while they were out there. They took a step out into the ring and waved for Rena to follow. She stayed close to their heels while looking around at all of the strange things. She had never seen anything like that before. Silver glanced over at Quintessence and smiled. Something about his presence made them feel more calm, more ready to tackle this head on. [108.7, 12.4, 11.4] [Autumn Pachee Please!] [Rena uses Follow on command.]
