I decided to pass by the quest board on my way home from the trader with my brilliant new creature. I enjoyed walking through the city and seeing how people reacted to her. She was such a rare and beautiful creature that they couldn't help but to look. I was proud to be the new owner of such an impressive creature, and I was pleased to see that other people seemed to like her as well. The reactions of strangers were a mix of impressed and afraid, both of which suited me. The more strong creatures helping to guard my hoard, the better. The quest board was full of nonsense as usual. I flicked through the quests available and tried to find one I thought would have a nice reward associated with it. In the end, I grabbed one from some official agency that studied insects. I wasn't sure about the prize, but it seemed really easy to complete. If whatever they gave me wasn't pretty enough, I would just sell it later, I supposed. 1[11.6, 0.2]

"Come with me, surj... sjru... you, we are going to find some..." I looked at the quest slip again to confirm, "'glowmoths' in the park before heading home."
It took longer than usual to get to the park, since I couldn't fly there with my new creature. While I walked, I considered what I might name her. I couldn't keep calling her by her species name forever, and not just because it was difficult to pronounce. Calling her 'Ursa' would have been too clunky and obvious. I wanted to name her something more regal and befitting of her rare and elegant nature.
"What do you think I should call you?" I asked aloud. She merely snorted at the sound of my voice. It was clear that we were not yet friends. Perhaps this little expedition to the park would be a good thing for building trust and loyalty, or something like that. She didn't look like a creature that would be very good at catching insects, but I am certain I could keep her out of the way for a while, at least.

"What do you think of... Odette?" I asked. It was hard to tell from her expression whether or not she liked it, but I did. I was fairly certain it was the name I would stick with, unless I thought of another one on the way that I liked more. She continued to follow along somewhat reluctantly, as if she was terribly inconvenienced by everything that was happening. I couldn't blame her. I, too, would not be very enthusiastic to be dragged to a new home by a stranger. I was confident, however, that she would come to appreciate it in time. I would take good care of her and raise her in a way that others simply couldn't. She should be proud to be with me, and maybe she would be once she realized that. Until then, I would just have to drag her along and hope she eventually got the hint.
Finally, we arrived at the park. Of course it was full of people and their pets. I wondered how many of them were also looking for glowflies. I suddenly felt a lot more pressure to get the quest done, as I wanted to be finished before anyone else. If there was a prize to be had, I wanted to make sure it was securely mine. "Focus," I told my new creature, tugging her along. I was determined to prove my insect catching skills.

The quest page was correct about their being a swarm at the public park. It was utterly full of buzzing insects of varying types. Some of them I recognized, but others I didn't know much about. I wasn't that interested in the kind of bugs that were too small to do anything cool. I looked for anything that would be classified as a glowmoth, since the picture on the note was too blurry to make them out. I figured that anything as small as a fly or mosquito was a miss, so I swatted them out of the way and traveled deeper into the park, off the beaten path.
The fewer people around, the more likely I was to find something interesting. It was also more lush in areas where people didn't frequently trample the grass, so I thought bugs might be hiding in the greenery. Odette was slowing me down more than I would like, but she was mostly cooperative. Every now and then I could hear her snorting to get rid of bugs in her face. They must have been attracted to her wet nose and shimmering fur.

"Odette! Your fur!" I said, turning around to look at her. Just as I suspected, there were a ton of bugs flying around the softly glowing spots on her body. They reminded me of stars, just like my own scales did. That's a large part of why I was curious about her in the first place. The insects seemed interested in her markings in the same way they were interested in lights and flames.
"Stay there, and be quiet! Perhaps we can attract a glow moth," I suggested to her. She didn't really have a choice in the matter, since I held her leash and wouldn't allow her to get too far away. I stepped back to the end of the leash and crouched down into the grass. I watched carefully as, now that she wasn't moving, a ton of various things flew over to investigate her. She was very annoyed by this, of course, and now and then swiped one of her large claws through the buzzing swarm.

The insects flew away from her fierce claws, but always circled back again in no time. I started to feel bad for her, so I decided to cut the experiment short. I pulled a towel from my bag and floated slowly into the air. I held the towel outstretched as I flew up and over Odette. Once I got to the other side I quickly bundled the towel up and tied the ends together. I could see the fabric wiggling around, so there must be something in there. Hopefully there were enough of whatever it was these guys were looking for to qualify for the prize.
"Thanks, Odette," I said. The sound of her name was growing on me, and I was certain then that I would keep it. "We can go home now, and I have some lotion I can put on those bites, don't worry." I, personally, really loved a long, hot bath and some lotion. I hoped that Odette would consider it a good compromise for having to suffer the swarm of insects for that long.
