In order to compete in the Show Ring, reply to this post to put on your show! Include your pets' image and stats in your first post, as well as any items they're wearing, will be used in your performance, or the pet was groomed with. - At the bottom of your first post, please note which participation prize pet you would like! -
The show ring or arena can look however you like, and it's safe to assume staff could procure some extra embellishments if needed for your performance, or special accommodations for critters that require it. Use any of your pets' many abilities to show off for points and votes from the crowd! Pets may use moves that they don't know on command in the show ring; there's ways to prompt that untrained COD to breathe fire, right?
At the bottom of your show ring posts, please make note of what abilities, moves, and tricks were displayed, and if they are used on command or not! Otherwise they will not count towards your score.

Ah, another contest! Another chance to strut their stuff in front of a crowd of people. This time he had a mighty dragon by his side, one that was a dominant force of muscle and fire. He was battle proven in the Pit, he'd sired his own champion and on down the line. This monster walked alongside Ashe as they entered the ring. He kept his head high as he walked, eyes watchful, checking for any challenges, any drakes that might try to take his crown. Seeing none, he settled and focused on his human again. "Easy, big boy, this is an obedience contest, not an ego contest..." They walked to the center of the ring and Ashe gestured toward the crowd. "Hello! I would like you all to meet my Sarane, Fafnir! You might remember him from the Pit, he puts on quite a show!" The Sarane snorted a puff of smoke, reacting to the surging crowd around him. "Fafnir, come here and say hi." He clicked his tongue, giving the signal. Hearing his name, Fafnir's head swiveled around, and he quickly walked over to Ashe. Inyala, who was on Ashe's shoulder as always, brought her hands together, pleased with the drake. Good boy for listening to Ashe - but she was keeping an eye on him, too. Now for this next set of moves, Ashe needed Inyala as a special volunteer. He made a gesture and she hopped off his shoulder, down his arm, and to the ground. She walked a little ways away in the middle of the ring and stood, facing Ashe and his monster. Ashe glanced over his shoulder at Fafnir and nodded toward Inyala. "Turn around, Inyala," Ashe told her. He knew it took trust for her to turn her back to the Sarane, but she did it without hesitation. Then, to Fafnir, Ashe said, "Gizili," he said, giving the command for stalk. Though it was light in here, and there was no real advantage when the opponent knew you were coming, the command was still a command, and Fafnir would make the best of it. He slowly crept away from Ashe, ducking down low to the side and moving as best as he could behind Inyala. His eyes were on the blue imp. Ashe felt the confusion coming from him, not understanding why he was hunting Ashe's shadow. [This is just for show, don't hurt her,] Ashe cautioned.
After a few steps, Ashe held up his hand. "Stay," He said, and Fafnir stopped in mid step, freezing and staying in place. Ashe waited to a count of ten, as if the prey was onto them. Then he gestured suddenly. "Matar!"

Fafnir pounced, landing with both front legs on either side of Inyala. The Imp stayed still, where she was, defying the innate urge to jump when something large attacks from behind. But this was Ashe's Fafnir, and she was Ashe's Familiar, and she wouldn't believe any harm would come to her. And it didn't. While Fafnir stayed still, waiting for the next command, she scurried up his leg and onto his back. Ashe had removed the tack when they'd arrived, since that would be part of their show, so she clung to his wing as best as she could.
"C'mere," Ashe called to Fafnir, and the drake spun and walked back to his master, muscles rippling. He stopped near Ashe, barely noticing the Imp hop off and back onto Ashe's shoulder. The man had produced a pile of tack, and he deftly started the process, picking up the saddle and tossing it onto Fafnir's back. "Easy there, steady..." Ashe murmured, needlessly. Fafnir had been tacked up a hundred times, he was beyond fine. Saddle tightened, Ashe hopped on and squeezed with his legs. "Go," He said, and the drake walked. Ashe used the vocal words for physical signals, for the benefit of the crowd. "Take a right here," he said, and nudged with the left leg. "And a left here..." He pushed with the right leg. "Speed up a bit here... Okay, whoa, easy, slow down there boy!" He laughed as Fafnir went into a jarring 'trot', his body not quite made for running like an Equillion's would be. "Annnnddd, stop." And he leaned his weight back, sitting his butt firmly in the saddle. And Fafnir stopped.

Ashe was thankful for the high ceiling and the large show ring in general. This place had been used to showcase Thundergug and even Pliathor, so it would hopefully be big enough that they could get some air. He quickly gave the signal for fly, using the basic Common word for the viewers if they could hear him. Fafnir took a few running steps, his wings flapping open, and he took to the air, soaring up and over the crowd gathered, his wings blowing some hats off. "Higher!" Ashe shouted over the wind, and Fafnir rose higher toward the ceiling. Inyala clung to Ashe, tucked in the bend of his arm as the man hung onto the saddle horn for balance. He didn't need to, but it did create more of a shelter for Inyala.
"Do a barrel roll, Faf!" Ashe called out, and the Drake jerked his body to the side and twisted, wings curling as he spun. He righted himself, snapping out a wing to stop the spin, and continued on, dipping lower to thrill the audience, then soaring higher again. Ashe guided him with his legs, pushing with a knee or a calf, squeezing with a thigh. When he figured they were about done, he gave one last command, thinking their word but saying out loud, "Fire away!" and Fafnir let out a stream of flames, tilting his head so the flames went down, harmlessly, toward the floor and not actual people and not forward so they would fly through it.
"And land. I think our job is done here, boy!" Again, through the ribbon, he gave the real command, and Fafnir took a lazy spiral downward, landing in a light jog and coming to a slow stop.

It wasn't too often that Xentus felt nervous about anything, though he wasn't nervous for his own sake. His blue eyes looked over the large, flaming wiurn with him. He was nervous for Nazura. This would be the first time he'd gotten exposure to anything like this. The brute was only ever around himself, and only once did he let another person care for him for a little while. Granted, he did behave for the most part. But this? There was a crowd of people and a panel of judges to impress. Such a thing would be awfully nerve wracking.. Yes, he was anthropomorphizing. Just to ease his own thoughts thought, he decided that hooding Nazura would be for the better. What the wiurn didn't see wouldn't hurt or distract him. With that, the wiurn was now dressed with the hood, a hefty metal collar, and the chain. Now, to wait for his name to be called..
And before he knew it, it was show time.
Xentus led the wiurn out onto the show ring with vigor, chin held high, and a toothy grin spread across his muzzle. Nazura followed the tug of the chain and the faint scent trail of his master, long forked tongue flicking into the air. "Greetings! Xentus brings his wiurn, Nazura to be witnessed!", the leopard called out with the wave of his hand as he led the giant lizard to the center of the show floor. He dropped the chain and stepped back a few paces.
"Nazura", he called to the wiurn and waited for his head to perk up towards him before continuing, "Come" And lazily, the wiurn lumbered toward the sound of his master's voice, head low and claws almost dragging against the floor. The winged beast only stopped when he felt the touch of the leopard's hand against his head plate.

The wiurn's keratin face shield was comfortably warm to the touch. The mammalian man rubbed the creature's nose in praise, then moved along the face and traced down the neck. The heat radiating from the brilliant red scales threatened to burn at first, but then seemed to lower to a more moderate warmth as his hands continued along the creature's body. Nazura was rather good at controlling his searing heat when he wanted to. As Xentus followed along the wiurn's body, reaching its left wing now. Despite having front legs, Nazura used his wings to aid himself in walking, and as such, the wing was planted firmly on the ground. Not for long though. Xentus pulled on the beast's wing-arm, reaching down and grasping firmly on the 'wrist' area. The wiurn shifted and lifted his wing, letting the man unfurl and extend the limb to its full length - spanning longer than the man was tall! Nazura's bright yellow diamond markings were revealed; the leathery skin of the membrane glistening in the light. The recent oiling and lotioning really brought out a nice shine.
With a satisfied nod, Xentus released the wing-arm and watched as it folded neatly back into place. He stepped back towards the front end of the wiurn, fetching a bag of meaty treats from his pocket. Nazura's tongue lashed out, tasting the air in anticipation for a morsel as a reward for his patience. The leopard pulled a raw chunk from the bag and showed it to the crowd, then held it out near the wiurn's snout.
"No, Nazura. Wait", the man commanded sharply. Beads of drool leaked from the wiurn's mouth as the forked tongue whipped in and out with increased speed. Nazura loosed a hot snort of annoyance of having to wait, but refrained from snapping up the treat. Next, Xentus placed his own hand before the flicking tongue, letting it touch against his blue fur. He smirked at the sound of a couple gasps from the audience. In the case of poorly trained wiurn, such an action might've led to one's hand getting snapped at. But Xentus trusted Nazura, watching as the beast withdrew his head.

So far, Nazura seemed to be performing very well. Xentus was pleased with him, giving him the okay to eat the meaty morsel. The wiurn gently plucked the treat from his hand; his ever-flicking tongue guiding the creature by scent alone. With a quick head toss, it was downed in a single gulp. The wiurn's head stretched back towards the mammalian to search for another treats that might be offered, but the push against his headplate seemed to be enough to tell him no.
The next part of the performance needed a little prepwork. Nazura was intended to be a mighty mount, and so the leopard figured showing off how well behaved the wiurn was while saddling up would be perfect for the show. His tack consisted only of a heavy leather saddle for today. Dressing the wiurn in it would some effort from him and patience from the wiurn. He brought out the tall backed saddle and positioned himself by Nazura's left wing.
"Bow", the leopard asked while putting a hand up onto the creature's shoulder. The reptile lowered his head and brought the front half of his body to the ground, resting on his chest scales and elbows. Xentus had to manually position his wings so that they would be out of the way, then began the process of heaving the saddle on and affixing the straps. During the process, a deep exhale was the only thing that moved the wiurn.

And now with the wiurn properly saddled, Xentus leapt up and mounted him. He felt as the creature shifted with the added weight, but it didn't seem to be out of discomfort. Nazura was rather used to having the leopard up on his back at this point. With a quick pat on the shoulder, the wiurn stood up from his bow, lifting his body with his arms and wings. With the beast still hooded, Xentus didn't want to attempt flight. Not that he would have much control anyway. No, this was fine. He only needed to show off what a good boy Nazura was.
From up on the wiurn's back, the mammalian man waved to the crowd. He garnered a quiet few claps, but simply mounting a creature typically used as a mount wasn't that impressive it seemed. No matter, even if they weren't flying for this performance, there was one last trick he had left. With hope, it would be well received. Displaying obedience could include showing off a bit, right?
"Now, Nazura, show them your aura!", Xentus commanded, bracing himself. The wiurn beneath him spread out his wings, and with a powerful beat, created a sphere of wicket blue flames around himself. It was hot, yet icy at the same time. And from atop the wiurn, the leopard was safely inside the fiery bubble. The aura lasted for about a minute before the flames dissipated. Once the shroud of flames was gone, Xentus asked the wiurn to bow yet again and slid off over its shoulder. He bowed himself, then returned the metal chain dangling from the beast to his hand.
"Many thanks for watching! Xentus and Nazura bid all farewell", the leopard announced, then lead the wiurn away from the show ring, satisfied with the performance.

Jack stretched out a little as she watched the first two go with their animals. Smiling, she patted Kro on the side and then entered the ring with him, slowly showing off what he could do. "Kro," she told him, and the attention of the giant Thundergug was all on her at that point. Nodding, she patted his nose and then crooked a finger at him, "Come on." As she walked, she weaved in and out of a few different poles and things that were set up and then pointed at him, "Stay." Kro stopped and stayed where he was, snorting a little and pawing at the ground with a huge, clawed foot. Jack smiled a little at that, she didn't know what to think of him right now, but she knew that things would work out in the end. "Okay, follow me," she told him and jogged a few laps around the arena, Kro following closely behind her. [Kro shows off Name, Come, Stay, No and Follow] [Silver Orbaru please!]

"Move it, Kro," she told him as they stopped in front of the cart that was almost always attached to the Gug when they were out and about. He moved out of her way so she could get to it and she glanced at him with a smile. The woman pushed her hair back and then looped his saddle bags over him, showing that he didn't mind carrying weight, not at all, she figured. Then she loaded up the cart and hooked it onto him with his special harness and led him around the arena once before jumping onto his back and then flicking the reins. Kro started off and then after a few moments of walking she pulled back gently until he stopped, then pulled a little harder for him to back up, knocking a little into the cart as he went. She flicked the reins again and then had him turn both right and left a few times, then brought him to a jog before having him slow down again. Finally she dropped the reins as he was moving and he stood still until she gave him another command.

"Roar," she told him, both out loud and through the Ribbon they shared. Kro snorted and opened his mouth, letting loose a ferocious roar that almost shattered the glass of the Contest Hall. Jack just grinned a little and patted him on the side before pointing at a fighting dummy, "Rend." His claws tore into the dummy and it splattered and tore all across the area before she gave another command, "Headbutt." He charged forward and smacked his head into another dummy before kicking at it when she gave the command for that as well, "Kick!" The woman eyed him for a moment before nodding, "Thunder." Kro went up onto his back legs and then slammed down with his front legs, letting out a sound even louder than his roar. "Good! Now bash!" she told him, pointing to another dummy, and the Thundergug smashed his side into it, making it to spinning off into the distance. "Dodge, and then tail strike!" she told him, throwing a few rocks at him. He dodged them effortlessly and then smashed his tail into them as hard as he could, sending them careening into the air.
[Kro shows off Roar, Rend, Headbutt, Kick, Thunder, Bash, Dodge and Tail Strike] [End]

Rei spent the week leading up to the ‘contest’ rehearsing in secrecy, at first with and then without Seveth’s involvement. He begged her to keep the whole affair secret from San, and she agreed, but some of her reluctance was only pretense, to make him squirm. She disliked that he had left out the salient detail that it was a creature show, and decided that he deserved to feel as guilty as he could; and if that guilt could be encouraged by an impassive look on her part, so be it. But in truth he need not have begged her, at least not to keep it from San. Knowing what transpired would have… troubled him, and she felt something a little like shame at her own part of Seveth’s plan. She hid it as best she could from Roku too, as his allegiance was never a sure thing, though she suspected he knew of it anyway. And there was, she found, a great deal of practice to do. Seveth had always struck her as lazy, but in this case his love of theatrics won out, and what he produced for them was a full routine, some of it rather closely choreographed. He spent - not to say wasted - a lot of time making himself a script, but Rei’s role was only a little less intricate, and a great deal more strenuous, as she would be the one demonstrating most of the work. “You’re the one on display, after all,” he had said to her with a wink and a grin that faltered and then fell into more appeals for forgiveness when she did not play along. And then the day had come, and the two of them had arrived at the venue. Never one to forego dramatics where more might be had, Seveth had arranged for theirs to be the last display. Rei watched as the other contestants were put through their paces by their handlers, and wondered whether Seveth’s routine would even be accepted as part of the same event. The more she watched, the more out of place she felt. But their turn, at last, did come; and Rei noted with little joy that the showrunners had managed, somehow, to procure the more outlandish things that Seveth had requested. He lavished thanks on them while she waited, and then he joined her at the edge of the ring. He breathed in, then exhaled sharply, and put on a determined smile. “Ready?” he said. She nodded. They were already here. She may as well see this through. Seveth walked out first, holding a microphone. When he reached an appropriate stopping point, Seveth halted, and took a flourishing bow. “Ladies, gentlemen, and those of us who know better,” he said, winking for the crowd this time. There was a small smattering of laughter, and his grin seemed to brighten by degrees under the lights and the attention. “My name is Linyü, and we’ve got a real treat for you tonight! Not a bird, not a plane, and most certainly not a dragon - but my friend Echo here is a girl of many talents. Come on out, Echo!” That was Rei’s cue. She walked up to stand beside Seveth, then faced out toward the crowd. (Rei demonstrates Come on command) (Silver Orbaru please)

“Say hello, Echo!” said Seveth, introducing her with an even more elaborate flourish than he had used for himself. They used her false name, just as they used his. Rei dipped into a curtsy; this was something Seveth had taught her in the last week.
“What do you think of the crowd, Miss Echo? Aren’t they the loveliest bunch of people you ever saw? This is the part where you nod,” he said, the last part in a stage whisper. Rei nodded, and the crowd laughed. “They won’t go home disappointed, will they? This is the part where you shake your head.” Following his direction, Rei did just that.
“Alright, without any further ado… Oh no, sweetheart. Not that way.” Rei, who had moved off, stopped where she was, and turned back to Seveth. In truth that had been choreographed too, and it had taken them some time to get it to look natural.

Seveth was walking backwards while he spoke, still smiling as he kept up his one-man monologue. When he backed up onto a certain spot, there was an audible click, and Seveth feigned a startled reaction as bars rose up around him. “Whoa!” he said, inspecting the cage that now held him in place. “Now, isn’t this a pickle? I’m sure there’s a key for this here somewhere… Won’t you help me, Echo?”
Rei nodded.
“It doesn’t look like it’s around here, does it?” said Seveth, making a show of scanning their immediate surroundings. “Looks like you’ll have to look a little further. Break!”
… It felt strange to hear Seveth using San’s signals, and the conspicuous setting of the show ring made it stranger still. She had been the one who had taught them to him, but even so. Still, their practice held, and she moved away from him.
