Please note...- The last date to post your introduction post is 72 hours from this post. Without an introduction post you cannot battle. - Certain moves can't be used in the Pit because of the surroundings and other moves can affect more than one creature at the same time. After all introduction posts have been posted you will be informed whether those two apply to any of your creatures' moves. - That you have 72 hours to post a response to a calculation post and/or roleplay post. The 72 hour deadline is not extended if your foe posts after a calculation post. Not meeting the deadline results in an automatic disqualification. - That characters level once every 20 posts in the Fighting Pit, but pets gain levels and loyalty towards their owners normally.

Their last match had been against a third-tier brown. Actually, their last two matches had been against third-tier browns. They might have been related, come to that, though Aster couldn't be sure; browns were a dime a dozen, unfortunately, and when they were pure-blooded... But the first had been broken and trained, and the second clearly hadn't been broken at least, and what a world of difference that had made.
Well. And the fire. The first one had been able to breathe fire. But suffice to say, even if he hadn't been able to, he would still have given Aurelius a run for his money. But their last victory had been quick and almost effortless. Walking onto the sands with Aurelius in tow, Aster wondered what was in store for them today. Another first-tier brown? Or something closer to their own caliber?
Aster gave Aurelius a last pat, then went up to the stands to wait.

Their last battle had gone rather well, for once it had been a tier one, and an untrained one at that. The feral brown hadn't had a chance to do much of anything, and the fight had been over almost as soon as it had started. Schism hadn't seem to have minded, and his confidence had been further boosted by a second win. By humanoid standards, he'd have terrible sportsmanship, smug when he won, and sulky when he lost. And it might be a case of the latter this time, their opponent had already arrived, and it was yet another tier three. Larger body, larger horns, and a heavy looking club tail. Other than that, Nerius couldn't tell the bloodline of the dark colored drake, and he had no idea what kind of tricks it might have up its sleeve. Schism didn't have such a detailed contemplation of the other drake, and simply noticed the larger size, and horns, and snarled as he was released into the pit. [Ready!] (Nerius: 10/20) (Schism: Lv: 52, 210/215 | Lyl: 40, 200/205)

In the end, the answer to Aster's question was not so much one or the other, but something in between--- something closer to the latter, he supposed. He recognized a trained drake when he saw one, and it was more than just the fact that this one was broken, and clear-eyed even as he snarled at Aurelius.
Aurelius gave his own answering rumble, but without the same level of enthusiasm; it was not so much disdain for what he saw as a lesser drake, but there was some of that too. Aurelius had never had an intense aggression in him, even when instinct prompted it; he disliked being around other drakes, but there was a sense of reservation even then.
Aster noted the dex brace on their opponent, and considered their options.
{Fly,} he said to Aurelius. The dappled drake responded at once, wings beginning to unfurl as he bunched his hindquarters beneath himself.
(Aurelius uses Fly)

The larger drake seemed almost bored, though Nerius couldn't tell for sure with someone else's beast. With all the other tier threes in the tournament, it was possible Schism just didn't seem like much of a challenge. It wasn't the most confidence inspiring thing to see, but maybe that meant the purple drake would be underestimated? Oh who was he kidding, Schism had been the underdog against everything but feral browns this whole tournament.
Now what would be the best move? Phasing out would give Schism an immediate advantage, but, he couldn't maintain it for that long. He didn't want to risk having the purple turn invisible this early, he'd likely not be able to withstand a hit.
There'd been no spoken command, but the dark drake was starting to move, and Nerius recognized the movements of a sarane about to take flight. <Roar!> he mentally commanded his own sarane, hoping the sudden noise would startle the other drake into fumbling his takeoff. Schism responded instantly, opening his jaws to let loose a bellow at the other sarane.

Aster saw the other drake open his maw, and had just enough time to clap his hands over his ears. Long experience in the Pit informed his knowledge of what happened next, but unfortunately Aurelius had no such recourse. Aster watched as the dappled drake flinched, and answered with another rumbling growl, this one a little more emphatic than the one before.
They could attempt to take off again, but... If Aurelius wanted to retaliate, Aster thought, maybe he might as well let the big drake try. It was rare enough to see him provoked. {Bash,} Aster said, and watched as Aurelius immediately moved to follow the command. He gathered himself as if readying for a spring, though this time he was aimed at his opponent. The long hind limbs bunched together, and then he launched himself forward, building up momentum to strike the foe's body with the bulk of his own.
(Aurelius uses Bash)

The loud, sudden sound served its purpose, Nerius was pleased to see the larger drake flinch, attempts at takeoff thwarted. Other than staggering him slightly, it didn't seem to do much other than make him mad. The disorientation didn't seem to be lasting long, and he was moving again all too soon. Nerius couldn't tell this time if it was a command, or natural movement, but either way, he was fast.
Schism wouldn't have much time to react, if at all, and Nerius decided their best bet was what had somewhat become his signature move: turning invisible. Unfortunately, experience had shown it wasn't a very reliable technique, but still he gave the command, <Phase out!> The purple drake was agreeable, and Nerius could see him start to flicker. But fast as their foe was, the charging tier three might hit before Schism could vanish. And even if he did somehow move faster, the other sarane might end up close enough to hit anyway.
[Schism uses Phase Out]

Calculations
Aurelius uses Bash! Aurelius' Dexterity of 5 + 8 rolled by staff = 13 vs. 5 Dexterity of Schism Aurelius will deal the most damage possible Aurelius' Strength of 8 + 6 damage of Bash = 14 damage 14 - 5 Resistance of Schism = 9 Schism's Stamina is now -2
It was a calculated plan but the tier three managed to move a little faster than the tier one. Schism goes down and the Pit crew come out to care for him.
Rewards Aurelius gains 2 levels and Aster gains 5 pit prize points Schism gains 1 level and Nerius gains 3 pit prize points
