Another trip to the temple. Renathan was not sure if one would consider someone that continually did something so dangerous brave or stupid. Of course, money was an incredibly good motivator, and he certainly didn't need them himself, so it was worth it to get the materials he needed for some of the projects that required more fancy materials than he really had to front for it. They pay, however, would be very good, and he knew he could do the work. It was going to be worth it. The mammalian shuddered a bit as he caught sight of it; the great stepped stone building that would once again lead him up to take his blood, and of course a bit of his soul. Or so the tomes said. The steps were going to be a little rough to climb, if he remembered correctly. Both steep and a little tall on each step. It wasn't as hard as the final part would be, he knew. He just had to remember the steps. [Renathan is using Sever Bond] - [1]

Renathan was glad that he was the kind of person to push forward and never hesitate when it came to doing things that were like this. He knew what was going to happen and was resigned to it, but it was still a terrifying prospect. The pain was intense, and hardly made the process completely worth it on the surface level. He'd only made and swallowed his node in order to be able to break his on-fire drakes, and honestly it felt a little silly now that he had even done so. Fire was probably not in his nature so much before as it was now. Renathan reaches down to his pouch as he ascends the steps up to the top platform. It took him a moment, and during that time he counted and re-counted the items that he had been given for the purpose. A round mind crystal, three hollow crystals, and a set of healing berries. Even though he knew it was all there, he found it comforting to make sure repeatedly.

The climb left the tall mammalian more than a little winded by the time he finally ascended the steps to completion. He couldn't stop to catch his breath though, he still had a bit of a walk left for him until he got to the altar. On either side, as always, were the individuals in cloaks. It was always a little terrifying to walk in front of them. It half felt like a cult, and half like criminals, and a hundred percent felt like being judged. Renathan shuddered again, his shoulder muscles tight, as he walked down the center of the lines. Of course, beyond them and on the walls, were the process depicted. It was a gruesome thing, the node creation process. Pethian 'gods' were absolutely merciless. Of course, magic in this form was quite foreign to Renathan, even now. It wasn't like the magic of his homeland and that made it a novelty. A spooky novelty.

The altar itself awaited him. A stone table of sorts, covered in previous blood donations. Renathan hated this part, it felt so unclean. Still, he walked up to the altar, made sure that the blade was still there visually (of course it was, and it was covered in what looked like Rust, but Renathan knew better). He hadn't gotten sick any of the other times he was hear, so he doubted he'd get sick this time, despite how disgusting it all was. Renathan grabs the pouch and pulls it from his waist, while standing in front of the altar. Mind Crystal. Hollow Crystals. Healing Berries. He checked each one of them off as he put them into his palm. It was all still there, and he was ready to begin the process.
Renathan starts by putting the round mind crystal on the altar first. That was followed by the three hollow crystals, arranged neatly around round pink crystal.

Now, the crystals were all on the altar. One pink and round, and three pointed and faintly glowing clear. The rest of the process could begin now. The mammalian reluctantly holds the berries in his hand. He knows of their pleasant sweet taste, too precious to be wasted on normal dishes. At the very least, this would be a pleasant portion of a rather unpleasant task. He looked at the blade as he popped the berries into his mouth. Berries First, always berries first. Then, he took the blade and made an incision on the top of his forearm, where it would hurt the least. He lets blood drip on all of the ingredients, at least a drop a piece. That was very important. The steps were completed, ingredients on the slab, berries eaten, and blood on all of the ingredients (both mind and hollow alike) from Renathan's use on his own forearm with the soul-blade. He couldn't help but think the whole process a little barbaric, but effective. He knew the worst part was about to come, though. Renathan knelt down, getting ready for the soul-tearing part just in time before he felt the sharp grasp against something just beyond what he would be physically and consciously aware of. And it HURT. Of course it did- Renathan was always glad that he only vaguely remembered this part.
