Sevurn got back to work, almost pleased to be doing hard labor after the insanity that had been trying to teach her wyrm for so long. Rock and rubble crumbled to the ground in front of her feet and the dust floating through the air in the aftermath was visible in the glow of her torch. It was going to be home time soon she figured - it was likely starting to get dark out and Sev was starting to get rather tired. That could wait for just one more round of mining, though - the more that she could bring back home with her in one go, the better. It seemed like they wouldn't be getting any fossils today, but Hemi seemed pretty happy with his little gem stash and Sevyrn was always happy to add more to any of the collections that she kept.
"Wish me Luck, Hem," Sevyrn said as she started to sort through the debris in hopes of finding some more interesting things within.

Sevyrn found another piece of ore first - this one lacking the grey tones of the first two pieces and barely standing out against the rocks around it. Iron? Sevyrn thought it might be, but ores were not an area of expertise for her.... nothing was here, really. She knew some stuff of course, but it wasn't like she had ever intimately studied geology or... well, whatever the study of gemstones would be called. When it came to that stuff all she really knew was the bare bones theory on how to carve a gemstone, something she had done a whole once in her life and failed rather miserably at. Poor Ryden had lost a crysochola to that once upon a time...
Sevyrn handed the ore off to Hemi and instructed him on getting it in to her bag - luckily he already seemed to be getting a bit better with that process.

She saw the soft purple glimmer next, a stone still embedded in the hard rock wall. Of course she was and always would be more of a green kind of person, but purple was a top second - the woman was incredibly interested in getting that stone out of the wall and secured in to her hands so that she could see just what it was. It wasnt an amethysr, or any other kind of gem that she had seen before...
Once it was freed, she held it up towards the light, taking in its rather stunning deep purple hue and interesting shape. How interesting! Sevyrn was more than happy to pack that up and take it home as well.
"What do you think of this?" Sevyrn asked the wyrm before she handed it over for Hemi to bring it back to her bag for safe keeping. She would definitely be looking in to it once she got home.

The last thing that Sevyrn laid eyes on was also unique to her - bright and pink, buried within the rubble, laid an oval shaped mind crystal. These were something that she had heard about yet never had the chance to see in person. She didn't know much about them, not really, but having one in her possession would encourage her to dig deeper in to their properties and uses.
She swore that they had something to do with magic, though. She'd read a book on it before, or at least tried to, and she'd seen a picture within the pages of something incredibly similar to what she held in her hand. Perhaps it was time for Sevyrn to read that book a little more seriously, and seek out the magical arts. Who knew where such things could bring her one day if she were able to achieve such a feat?

The woman dwelled on that idea as she walked the crystal to her bag herself - as great as Hemi could be, if this crystal was what she thought it was then she was not about to trust him with something so precious. It simply was not worth the risk.
The wyrm seemed rather disappointed when he was not handed off the shiny this time around, and watched Sevyrn as she walked towards her backpack. As she crouched down to reach for her bag he slithered forward, nosing at the crystal in her hand. "No - not this one. I'm sorry, dude, but there's so much more that you can have. I promise the next find is all yours."
Now that she had found that crystal, her desire to head home had vanished. She had come for fossils and stayed due to the lure of magic - how simply one unexpected event could change a day.

What were the odds that Sevyrn would find more crystals - today, or in the future? She had found one of the elemental crystals but ended up selling it, water not being an element that she was drawn to. Earth? Chaos? The world would guide her down the path that was meant for her - if she found the appropriate crystals it was because the gods had decided so, if she didn't... well, she would find herself disappointed, but obviously learning the mystical arts had not been meant for her. There was do much to be learned now, and Sevyrn didn't even know where to start. A history of magic book didn't exactly explain the ins and outs of how to harness magic, after all.
"It seems you bring me good luck, buddy," Sevyrn said to the wyrm, and offered him a treat even though he hadn't done anything. Her mining trips had become better since taming him.

Sevyrn had made another good haul! She saw the shimmer of blue and deep green within the debris, though she failed to notice the fossil that laid between them until she had leaned down close and noticed that one chunk of rock seemed to stand out just a little compared to the rubble around it. Huh - upon closer inspection it seemed to be similar to the fossil that she had found during her last trip. It wasn't quite what she had been looking for but she had heard that they were still pretty useful. Worst case scenario she could sell it to someone in need, or trade it.. maybe for some of the fossils that she was actually trying to get her little grubby hands on. Regardless, Sevyrn would most definitely be taking that little find home with her today.
Hemi nosed forward, wanting to check out what was going on.

Sevyrn showed the wyrm the fossil that she held in her hand, but Hemi showed no interest in it - that did not interest him, it was not what he had came here for. No - he could see that soft shine under torch light that told him there were more gems over here. Sevyrn shook his head at how stone-oriented the thing seemed to be, as much as that was exactly his nature. First she handed off the sodalite to him, another gem that would be able to enter his collection as she already had one at home, and once the wyrm had returned to her she gave him the heliotrope as well. He still wasn't amazing at retrieving and storing stones but he was still getting better, piece by piece. She was going to have to return the fossil on her own though, which was more than alright. She tucked it safely in the secure pocket that she'd put that crystal.

"So that's why we're not finding very many fossils, huh?" Sevyrn said as she crouched down by her bag, shaking her head at the wyrm. "You just don't like them do you? Maybe you'd like to hunt down some crystals more?" With that she pulled the mind crystal out of her bag and held it towards the wyrm - he wanted to snap at it, but she kept it out of his reach. There was absolutely no way that Hemi would be getting his mouth on that, not if Sevyrn had any say in it.
"Why don't you help me find some more of these?" She asked him, cocking her head. The wyrm likely did not understand her at all. "Or at least something similar - do you remember the water cyrstal we found a few trips ago? I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a few things like that, either. What do you say?"

Hemi had nothing to say - obviously. But he did start slithering off in the direction of one of the tunnels, and Sevyrn collected her tools and her torch so that she could follow him down whatever path he was taking them. Maybe this room had been exhausted or maybe he just wanted a change in scenery, who knew? Whatever it was, Sevyrn didn't mind wandering a little deeper in to the depths. Like, yes, it spooked her - she didn't want to end up part of a cave in, lost to the world forever. But with each trip she found herself growing more and more confident that everything was going to be okay, and that she would get home in one piece with an ever growing collection of shiny baubles to display on her desk with pride. Hey - maybe she'd even found enough to stop by the person hosting a 'mining dare' and pick up a new reward.

They didn't wander too far off from where they were - the tunnel opened in to a small cave room just a couple minutes' walk from the last (more open) room that they had been in. There were two pathways heading off of this room - a narrow entrance to a tunnel system on her left, and a much larger pathway straight forward. Hemi, however, seemed to want to settle here - for that Sevyrn was happy. As much as she was okay with wandering deeper in, she didn't neccesarily want to. The room was too small to set her torch in the center so she slammed the pointed end in to the wall to secure it, letting go once she was sure that it would stay. Once that was done she left her backpack on the floor just beneath it, and swung her pick back over her shoulder. Time to get back to work.

Whack! Whack! Whack! It only took three whacks of her pick to the rock wall before Sevyrn noticed a pale blue shimmer between two of the masses of stone, and her tool hit the ground with a thud as she dropped it and moved to check out what seemed to be awaiting her. Once again, it seemed, the gem wyrm had picked a good spot for them to settle in to... Sevyrn loved having that little guy around. Her luck in the mines had gotten so much better since finding him, though that was also partially due to her own increasing experience. She knew these tunnels and how to pick out a good spot a little better every time that she came here, after all.
"What did you find me?" Sevyrn asked, craning her neck to look at the gem wyrm. She couldn't say for sure but he seemed to be proud of himself.
