What's that sound...? A head pops through the grass. Is that a lotine?!

Suddenly the rustle of foliage pulled Sevyn's attention away- it seemed that there was something in the yard. It must have been in the grass while Sevyrn was working on getting the fence up, or snuck in before it had been finished. She swore she saw the glint of eyes in the foliage when she thought it moved, though. Slowly she made her way over to investiage, not wanting to startle whatever it may be.
As she got closer she realized that... it was a lotine... in her yard - one that she had never seen before. The poor thing must have been trapped here over night, it had to be scared. She stopped well away from it and crouched down low to the ground. "Hey, you," she spoke sweetly. "How did you get in here? I'm sorry if I built around your hiding space, I can help you out of here if you want." Carefully, she extended her arm out towards it just slightly.

The lotine flinched away from the movement initially, startled. It didn’t know much of people - what was this person going to do? It didn’t run away, however. It watched and waited.

The poor thing was scared to death - flinching at even the slightest movement from Sevyrn. The woman kept her hand held out and for a moment, hoping to give the lotine a chance to get accustomed towards her. One way or another... she needed this little lady trust Sevyrn enough for the woman to be able to help her out. Figuring maybe a snack might help her feel a bit better, Sevyrn slowly got back to her feet and walked towards where Ophelia remained unphased. She had feeder fish in the pond for the lotine she already had, so perhaps one of them would be a nice treat for this stranger. She scooped one out in a little net that she had hung up against her shed, and slowly made her way back to the timid creature.
"How about a snack?" She asked in the same soft voice as before, tossing the fish from where she was a couple meters away to be closer to the lotine. Hopefully a snack would let her know that Sevyrn meant well.

The lotine pondered the situation for a few seconds. Food was always good... it crept closer to take the fish in its mouth. Yummy. It had been a while since it had been fed... was this person a source? It moved to within touching distance and came to a halt. Perhaps they weren’t so bad.

"Yeah, I'm not so bad," Sevyrn cooed to the lotine as it came closer, stopping shy of Sev's body to take in the girl a bit better. Calmly and cool she slowly made her way over to the pond, urging the girl to follow - if she thought that one fish was good, she would be thrilled to see that there were more. It didn't follow immediately, but that was okay. Sevyrn lifted one of the fish still in the water out to show her that more food awaited. From here she would make her way over in her own time - the central area was very busy, after all. Ophelia's interest seemed to be piqued by the newcomer, though ahe didn't move from her spot on the rocks. "I think I just found you a new buddy, O," Sevyrn said to the common breed, both of them keeping an eye on the stranger.

While Sevyrn gave the newcomer some time to adjust, she hung out with Ophelia for a bit and then started on her basic maintenance. At that point, she realized that there were a couple more visitors today - a potato-like creature disguising itself in the dirt of her vegetable garden, and a grass-tailed shrimp-like... bug. Sevyrn shivered at the sight of it, but it was rather benign compared to say, a weaver. Working in the garden it wasn't realistic to expect that she'd never experience bugs, but at least this one didn't seem like it would try to bite or sting or crawl all over her... it just wanted to hop about in the grass by the tree. She would happily let it continue its life however it pleased, as long as it didn't bring a hoard of other bugs with it. Wasn't bug life a sign that she was doing good job back here, anyways? As long as the insects didn't start ruining her crops...

Sevyrn did stop to try to play with the little potato creature, though. It wasn't as nervous as the lotine had been, though it did run off as soon as its spot had been found. It ended up checking out Ophelia, who found the little critter to be oddly strange - what was it even supposed to be, anyways? Sevyrn picked carrots, ripped out weeds and watered flowers until she was done with that, at which point she returned to the pond to hang out with the common lotine. As she was sitting there chatting to Ophelia with her feet in the water, she pulled out another fish and held it towards the newcomer. Maybe being hand offered another snack would encourage her to come closer - she'd already settled on watching from where the old fence line had been... Sevyrn felt guilty - the lotine probably had been living quite happily over there before she had gone and affected her habitat.

Sevyrn was just finally starting to bond with the new lady, wondering if she might need any special measures given that she wasn't of the more known varieties, when she caught sight of something else moving around in the garden. ... what in the world was that? At first sight Sevyrn thought it was a very large bug perched on a rock, but the body didn't seem quite insectoid and it had a beak and feathers. She was rather confused about what she'd just seen.. and what had she done so good lately to attract so many new critters to the garden? She approached it slowly and carefully, lest it start to move away. She had a few berries in hand so she tossed a few towards it. They scattered on the ground and Sevyrn stayed where she was for now, waiting to see how the strange creature would react to her. 46

The creature looked down at the berries scattered at its feet, and then back up at the stranger. Huh. It hopped down to pick one up - it wouldn’t hurt to eat one... after it was consumed, it blinked at the person, with a quiet chittering noise.

The way it hopped was so... bug like. Sevyrn shuddered. If there was one thing that she hated being around, it was bugs. This was just another life on this world though, and it deserved to be able to live the way it meant to in peace even if it had those bug-like traits. Maybe she could pen off an area for it, like she'd penned up the garden? Make an area where it could thrive and she wouldn't have to have it hopping about around her feet unless she had chosen to? It would be cruel if she limited its life like that, though. Maybe they could come to some kind of symbiosis together, or maybe it would run off later on? Either way, she still had to be friendly.
"Yeah, you're just trying to do your thing aren't you? There's a lot to be seen here. Do you like it?" There were a few more berries scattered around, so Sevyrn let it check them out. Fighting her own deep desire to run away, she stepped forward just a little bit. The little chattering was almost even cute.

The koguma didn't seem to care much about the person's hesitations, and kept munching at the scattered berries. Yummy! Perhaps it would stick around and see if there were more where that came from.

Yeah... it seemed to like her. Part of Sevyrn found that unfortunate, part of her figured that it would at least be safe here until she could find someone who would want to give it as good of a home as possible. There were many people out there who enjoyed the insect type anyways - everything had a home somewhere or another in this world. It seemed curiously interested in some more berries, so Sevyrn pointed towards one of the bushes and, when it didn't seem to get the point, she went over there herself and picked some off, placing them on the ground with the newcomer watching. At that point he seemed to get the hint, and Sevyrn walked back towards her pond.
The new lotine was checking things out - dipping her nose beneath the water where Skye swam around before turning to Ophelia to check her out as well. Were lotine social creatures within their own species?

Sevyrn kept a watchful eye on the pair, but they seemed to be getting along. The newcomer was rather bashful, shying away from Ophelia every time the common leaned closer, but there were no signs of aggression or that there was going to be trouble. The pond was big enough for the both of them - especially now that the yard had been expanded to give everyone and every thing a bit more room to live.
She was going to have to think of a name for the newcomer at some point, but right now nothing was coming to her and she didn't want to be hasty about it. After it had been decided and taught, it would be wrong to confuse the lady by trying to push a new name on to her. Sevyrn had all the time in the world to figure something out, though. It's not like she had anyone to come calling to her lotine.
