Sevyrn reached the front of the dilapidated building and took a seat on the stairway leading up to the door, aged and rotting wood creaking beneath her weight whether she stepped or sat. She would give the houlou pup a few moments to play, but at the end of the day they had a mission - she wanted to get inside and see what kind of haunting she was going to get this time around! The last one had been crazy, but she couldn't say it hadn't been interesting and a little bit fun.
"Alright, Ash - come on," Sevyrn eventually said, summoning the pup towards the house. Once he reached the front door he crouched low to the ground with an air of nervousness, but seeing the calm air his girl held gave Ash the courage to clamber up the stairs to her. Those strange little creatures were still following after Ash like his own little puppies.

Sev was not bothered by the idea of Ash making his own friends - as long as they were willing to follow her rather than trying to lead Ash off in to who knows what. These ones seemed like they would be fine, though - here they were trailing after the bigger dog like it came naturally to them. Once Ash was up on the porch - after he gained confidence he'd flown right past Sev on the stairs to wait in front of the door - the young woman stumbled to her feet.
"You ready then?" She asked the pup as she moved towards the door, more than prepared to start thus venture herself. The houlou let out another excited bark as if to say yes, and just like that Sev was pulling the door open to let Ash and his new companions take their first steps inside. Once everyone was in, she followed after them.

The doorway opened up in to a dark foyer, the room only lit by the slight shine of moonlight pouring in from a room attached to it. Mid-day sun had been pouring down on her and Ash just moments before when they were outside so the soft glow of moonlight from inside came as a slight shock to the system but Sevyrn knew this place - not like like back of her hand, but she knew it enough to just accept the strange Magix that came with it.
She was less sure of the beast she could see lazing in the hallway, though. It rested between her and where she needed to go, so it seemed like she may need to work her magic. She called Ash to a stop before he could interact with the strange beast, as she didn't know if it would be friendly or not.
"Hey there," she said, urging the houlou pup behind her as she slowly approached.

The spectre raises its head. It regards you - or so it seems, it's pretty difficult to tell with eyes like those - but makes no sound. It does seem to peer around you to catch a glimpse at your pup. The little skellydog that had been skittering near it races to stand in the space between you and it. What brings you here...?

One of the strange little pocket pets skittered around Sevyrn’s feet, it’s skeleton form eerie in a strangely cute way. Sevyrn thought it oddly adorable, reminding her of a similar little beast she’d found the year before. The other two were… not quite as appealing, and though they squirmed around she paid them little mind. In fact, her eyes only left the spectre for a moment - the larger ghastly beast was what truly claimed her interest.
She crouched slightly, legs bent at the knee to bring her down to the resting beast’s level. She wasn’t about to push limits with something that looked like it could eat her or Ash if it felt so inclined. She opted for the friendly route, scouring her mind to think if she had anything the beast might like in her backpack. It was unlikely, but she could try offering it one of Ash’s treats?
“You want a snack?” She asked the unmoving creature as she reached in to her bag and then tossed a small treat towards it.

The spectre stares at the treat. Do ghostly beings like treats...? All critters like treats, surely. It gets up slowly, stretching its limbs, and ambles forwards to inspect the offering. Looks interesting. It nudges it with its nose, and then crunches it up. Got anything else?

Sevyrn had to admit, she knew little about the spooky and macabre kind of creatures that made their home in the mansion during the spooky season of Vai Min Mur. The spectre's long tongue slurping up one of her houlou treats was even enough to make her shiver a little... Yeah, she could be a bit of a wimp sometimes. That didn't change her curiosity towards the spectre, and with the way it looked at her she felt like there was some kind of progress being made. At the very least, she figured that it didn't want to eat her or her houlou pup? Hopefully that was an accurate assessment.
"That wasn't half bad, huh?" She asked as the houlou with her tried to pry his way between her arm and body, intrigued by the treats that were being offered to something that was not him. Sevyrn gave the pup a pat on the head and dropped a a piece of the dried meat to Ash before offering another out to the spectre. "I've got a lot more where that came from," she said to the beast, cautiously waiting to see if it would approach her for another opportunity to snack or if she was going to have to toss it over.

The Specter watched the Houluh with its glowing eyes. For some reason, it seemed more interested in the pup than in the girl. It saw her offer a treat to it, and swished its ghostly tail. There were more? It took a tenative step forward, then looked to the ground, as if it expected a treat to appear there.

There was still a level of reservation in the spectre and Sevyrn had nothing but respect for that, wild beings not used to interaction with humanity and all.
"What? I still gotta come to you?" She talked like the beast would understand her, a soothing voice she saved only for animals and not people. That tiny step seemed to show some level of interest in these strangers, though. She didn't miss the way that the beast paid attention to Ash and though that left her concerned, she couldn't see things going all too badly... hopefully.
As the spectre seemed to be requesting, she tossed that piece of meat in her hand out to it - and Ash, being a pup who wasn't all the way trained yet, lost his mind over it. The pup burst towards the spectre and ended up sliding past where the treat landed, skidding to a stop just inches away from the beast.
Ash was fearless as he looked towards the spectre, wide eyed and a tongue lopping out the side of his mouth. As if asking it to play, he let out a little bark.

Another treat? Perfect. How many did she have? It didn't have much time to ponder this question, because there was suddenly a puppy barreling at it. It quickly slurped up the treat with its long tongue and stared intensely at the Houluh, as if it were daring him to try to do anything. After a moment, it decided that the puppy was, indeed, not a threat, and it looked up at the girl. Well, what next?
[Congrats, you've tamed the Specter! - Also, if you may make one more post to round off your October rolls if you'd like.]

Sevyrn had been nervous for the first few moments in which Ash was so close to that Spectre, unsure whether or not the beast would be friend or foe to the strange little pup that had barreled up to it like he was the biggest, most fearless thing in the world. The spectre's curiosity towards the pup seemed to work in the houlou's favour, though, because he did not become a snack to the much bigger beast. Though the spectre did not try to 'play' as the pup was trying to encourage, it did poke at it with a paw and then wander off deeper in to the mansion. Through a wide, rotting archway it turned to look back at the pair of near strangers.
It seemed the beast was encouraging them to follow, and as such Sevyrn urged Ash to follow along with her. This spectre would make a good tour guide, she imagined - and eventually it was time to head back home.
15 Ash - 9 [Thank you - I was going to ask to ignore these posts for rolls so I could do January on an even count but I appreciate the extra October roll ♥)

Sevyrn had never been in the mansion in January before. Throughout the last year and a half or so since she'd started coming back out of her cage after losing Ryden she'd ventured down many times but rarely in the cold winter months, when her thin frame was apt to shiver and shake.
It was a time of new beginnings, however, and she found herself committed to trying at least one new thing during the first few days of the new year. It had been hard to think of much - that she would be interested in, at least - and she'd settled on seeing what kind of magic the mansion would want to bring during the colder months. She bundled up tight, planning to freeze her ass off at least on the way there, and packed a thermos of hot chocolate to warm herself back up with before heading down to pick a buddy for the trip - she had settled on a sweet little Estharne she'd picked up from the APAA not too long ago. Even so, a bonding opportunity felt long overdue. 1 (TBB 1)

"What do you think?" She'd asked the sweet little tabby as they had started the venture down the road. The young one didn't seem to know what to think of the snow falling around them and she was losing her mind - in a good way, Sevyrn imagined. Delia was hopping in snow banks and shaking the soft, icy cold fluff off of herself afterwards, the fur between her toes getting coated in thick mats of compacted snow. Sevyrn shivered just thinking about it, her own feet bundled up in thick fuzzy socks and the sturdiest boots that she had been able to get her hands on.
She did not comprehend how anyone could like the winter time, but she supposed she didn't have to understand it... Hopefully inside of the mansion would be a bit warmer than the crisp cold air along the way. Maybe even a fire place inside... That would be quite lovely.

"Alright, D, come on," Sevyrn said as she recognized the turn-off point to make her way down the path to the mansion coming up in the distance. Play time was over, at least for a minute - provided that inside offered a bit of warmth, they would be able to stop and mess around for a bit before they began their true adventure inside. Even Delia would have to appreciate that, right? (With her endless fluff and ability to withstand the cold that greatly outdid Sevyrn's own, it would not make half a difference to the young Estharne and she was quite enjoying spending her first winter out in the strange thing called snow. The joys of being young and naive... Delia had not learned that winter was more of a hindrance than anything else.
The estharne came along, though, leaping out of a snow bank almost as big as she was to race to her owner's feet.
